4* RB commit Eric Gray no longer visiting this weekend

He gone
November 15th, 2018 at 11:01 PM ^
Or, maybe he's a kid enjoying getting onto a bunch of campuses.
Maybe he could muscle up to a true Michigan back, but looks like a scat back and just as likely to end up in the slot as in the backfield. Think he would be great there, and we could use some depth there, but maybe that's not what he wants to be.
Definitely would have work to do to pass Charbonnet, and maybe he's the kind of kid who would relish the challenge. I hope he decides to. I live in Tennessee and would definitely rather take four or three years in Ann Arbor than stick around here (though Knoxville is a different world than Memphis)

or he is gone
November 16th, 2018 at 1:44 AM ^
yup 'cuz we suck... and the vols are great......lol
November 16th, 2018 at 2:11 AM ^
He hasn’t even been to Ann Arbor since the summer and has never been to a game if I’m not mistaken, so seems like more than just wanting to see different campuses.
November 16th, 2018 at 7:44 AM ^
He hasn’t visited a single game this season and he’s been talking all year about wanting to get down and visit a game day atmosphere. Meanwhile he’s taken multiple gameday visits to Tennessee and Ole Miss. He’s gone.

"The bag men associated with certain schools pay potential signees one-time bonus payments not to visit a rival school that's offered a scholarship. The going rate is stated to be $2,500. This has become a popular tactic in recent years, as the recruiting process has become more publicized."

That is crazy evil. Dirty as hell tactic.
November 16th, 2018 at 11:24 AM ^
I am so naive...wow, amazing we get anyone...tough to say no if you really need the $$$.
November 16th, 2018 at 10:42 AM ^
As a comment that guy is pretty clear that he spoke to Bag men across the SEC only, and he also speculates why it is happening and easily fostered in the Atlantic South rather than the rest of the country.
So even the SEC knows they are probably the only ones really doing it at that level.
November 15th, 2018 at 9:34 PM ^
I think we'll be okay.
November 15th, 2018 at 9:52 PM ^
I appreciate this take because it made me laugh.
November 15th, 2018 at 9:34 PM ^
Good luck, and thanks for making room for one of the 5 stars left looking at us.
November 15th, 2018 at 9:49 PM ^
nah. Losing Gray sucks. We have a few 800+ ranked kids we can move on from to make room. No spin zone here. Losing Gray sucks. However, we have a great back in this class so not as bad as it would be otherwise.
November 15th, 2018 at 10:16 PM ^
I see your point here, and I also really like Gray's film, but I'd still rather make room for various all-world linemen via the departure of a kid who just prefers to be elsewhere, rather than elbowing out some kid who at best feels a little disappointed/betrayed and at worst has a tough time finding a good fit for his back-up landing spot.
That said, I have no idea what the scholarship situation actually is, so I'm mostly just bummed that it looks like we'll probably miss out on a fun all-purpose back.
November 16th, 2018 at 8:34 AM ^
Agree. We still will have (probably) Evans, Wilson, Charbonnet, Samuels, Turner, Giles, and Haskins next year plus the 2 fullbacks (Mason, VanSumerin). We'll be fine.
November 15th, 2018 at 9:34 PM ^
Because Tennessee has been doing so well...
November 15th, 2018 at 9:48 PM ^
A.J Dillon situation methinks.
November 16th, 2018 at 4:14 AM ^
Somehow, I don't think he was asked to play linebacker.
November 15th, 2018 at 9:56 PM ^
in state school and they're only taking 1 back. Coach probably would've given his left teste to get him. I can see them selling him on leading the comeback.
November 15th, 2018 at 10:02 PM ^
The idea of being the only RB in a class would terrify me. Don't want all those hits on my body. And Tennessee isn't coming back for a long time.
November 16th, 2018 at 4:58 AM ^
Yeah, all backs think like that.
November 16th, 2018 at 10:33 AM ^
That is one of several reasons why you are not a P5 college level RB. Being the only RB in a class is perceived as a good thing 100% of the time by 17-18 year old kids and their parents.
November 16th, 2018 at 10:36 AM ^
Hey my points went up! How long has that been working?
November 16th, 2018 at 4:42 AM ^
November 15th, 2018 at 9:57 PM ^
I’m glad that we had some in-State kids that stuck with Michigan when we weren’t doing so well.
Sometimes kids are loyal to their local school. Could be that simple.
November 16th, 2018 at 7:43 AM ^
George Karlaftis, do not listen to this man!!!
November 15th, 2018 at 9:34 PM ^
Tennessee... what a joke these days. And they're not coming back anytime soon.
Best of luck to him personally if that's where he ends up, but Tennessee can keep crapping it up forever as a team.
November 15th, 2018 at 9:36 PM ^
okay, given tennessee's record and outlook, am i the only one that thinks maybe, just maybe, there's some SEC $ involved? seriously, if you look at the quality of coaching and the teams' respective trajectories, why in heaven's name would you go there if you could play for us?
November 15th, 2018 at 9:49 PM ^
They're projected to flip a 5* from Georgia that was committed to Auburn. That screams $EC
November 15th, 2018 at 10:16 PM ^
Bag man is an honorable profession south of the Mason-Dixon Line...
November 16th, 2018 at 1:58 AM ^
Yes it must be, because Georgia or Auburn don't have access to $EC money.
November 15th, 2018 at 9:53 PM ^
I have it on good authority that he wants to change his name to Eric Green.
November 15th, 2018 at 11:09 PM ^
That and a brand new stripper girlfriend
November 16th, 2018 at 8:56 AM ^
Yea..sometimes the “snake oil” gets to kids. Also, kids are going to be kids. It’s an emotional decision. And kids can be easily influenced with promises and “special treatment”. I can see some kids falling for “promises” from other schools and then them getting the “you’ll have to compete and earn the job” story from Harbaugh and then them just wanting to take the ez road.
I’m never surprised by anything in recruiting ..especially after the last 5-10 years as a Michigan fan. Best of luck to the kid.
November 15th, 2018 at 10:25 PM ^
Tennessee is not a joke. They kicked Kentucky's ass and Kentucky is one of the top teams in the nation. Don't you know anything? I wouldn't be shocked to see Tennessee in the top 20 at the end of the season just because. It's hard to rationalize down there when all you know is sweat and mud drags with big trucks. That and making babies with your first cousin. If your sister has more teeth she gets the nod though.
November 15th, 2018 at 10:49 PM ^
Interesting comment coming from someone in Fargo...
November 15th, 2018 at 11:13 PM ^
I wouldn’t piss him off. He owns a wood chipper
November 15th, 2018 at 11:26 PM ^
And Kentucky Beat Florida. Florida beat LSU which beat Georgia. So by virtue of the SEC circle jerk Tennessee is in contention for a CFP spot.
November 15th, 2018 at 9:35 PM ^
Oh well. Solidify Charbonnet and make room for some of the other 4* and 5* types we’re in with
November 15th, 2018 at 9:35 PM ^
Tennessee?
November 15th, 2018 at 11:30 PM ^
Take me to another place, take me to another land
Make me forget all that hurts me, let me understand your plan
November 16th, 2018 at 12:45 AM ^
Committing to Tennessee will surely arrest Gray's development
November 16th, 2018 at 2:33 AM ^
If he goes there he’ll take so many hits it will be dangerous to Grey’s anatomy!
November 16th, 2018 at 8:01 AM ^
Wow arrested development lyrics..... holy obscure lyrical reference Batman!!!
