06/21/2018 - 9:04pm Kind of like Oberon in…

Kind of like Oberon in Michigan.

06/19/2018 - 5:36pm Yes, and we know those never…

Yes, and we know those never happen.. LOL

06/19/2018 - 5:35pm We have also never had a QB…

We have also never had a QB with even 30 TD passes.  That's not going to raise Heisman eyebrows either.

06/04/2018 - 11:24am Harbaugh's time has definitely run out

as far as improvement on the Oline. He took over a 1-11 team at Stanford and managed to field a killer Oline in his fourth year. No excuses for why he can't do it here.

06/04/2018 - 7:13am Well, who are the people that are sure Beilein is staying

and why are they sure?  Has Beilein talked to them personally and assured them that he's not going anywhere?  If so, that's not much of a negotiating position for him, and there's no need for Warde to do anything.  Or is this people in the athletic department assuring you and others that no matter what the Pistons offer Beilein, Michigan will offer him more, whatever it takes to keep him?

06/03/2018 - 11:13am If it were just about money

and the Pistons wanted him badly enough, there's no way we could match what they could pay him.  Fortunately, I doubt very much that it's about the money with Beilein.

06/01/2018 - 6:19pm You're right...he definitely shouldn't have been

a Heisman candidate last year.  But given the jump in performance you can expect from his sophomore to his junior year, as well as the jump in performance from his supporting cast (almost all of which returns from a 10 win season), he probably will be this year.  Along with 50 other guys at the start of the season.

06/01/2018 - 3:49pm Knee-jerk optimism for a new coach

If his predecessor made things too complicated, he'll "go back to basics" and everyone will be all fired up over that. If his predecessor made things too vanilla, he'll kick things up a notch, and everyone will be gung-ho for THAT.

Just win. No excuses.

06/01/2018 - 6:44am need balance, EVERY class

We're in the same position with WR right now.  Everyone is gushing over our current roster, but we got zero WRs last year and only one low rated guy this year.  3 years down the road when all of our current guys are gone, we'll be hurting at that position.

05/31/2018 - 6:11pm Not really

Expectations were 8-4 +/-1 his first year, 10-2 his second and 9-3 last year, so he's been right about there.  No "smashing" that I've seen yet.

05/31/2018 - 11:16am Anything less than 11-1

Will be a disappointment, since that would be our 4th straight year mired in 9-3ishness. One of these days, Harbaugh needs to show that his team can exceed expectations and not just meet them.

05/30/2018 - 5:59pm No, he just hasn't taken 2-3 years to develop

He was very good from the very start.  And like a lot of Wisconsin's best players, he's college good but not well suited for the NBA, so they get him for 4 years.  We've never kept a player of Happ's caliber for 4 years under Beilein.

05/30/2018 - 6:30am Don't think so

He's been passed by two or three other guys.  I don't think he'll even get to 10 catches this year.

05/29/2018 - 7:53pm No kidding

We always seem to lose players who are worse than the ones MSU keeps, and our guys always seem to wait until the very last minute to decide.

05/29/2018 - 7:48pm 10 wins including the bowl

is not a special season, unfortunately.  That means 9-3 RS, and another finish out of the money in our own division.  This is the year Harbaugh needs to show whether he is an elite coach at this level or whether he's going to be perennially 9-3ish.  If he can't win big with the talent he has this year, how much more does he need?

05/29/2018 - 4:29pm Yeah, a 7 win improvement is not just

random variation around a .500 record. Dantonio did a great coaching job last year.

05/29/2018 - 4:21pm Except that we seem to say that

about State year after year after year. "They're not that good, they're just lucky". "Everything broke their way last year". Etc. Sooner or later you have to acknowledge that no one is just lucky all the time, and that if they seem to be, it may just be that they're well-coached.

05/25/2018 - 10:02pm And we came up virtually empty on WRs

in 2018, and have yet to get a commit from one in the 2019 class.  In three years, the cupboard is going to be very bare again at that position.

05/25/2018 - 2:57pm 7 is a good target number for scholarship RBs

Given that circumstances out of your control can easily push that up or down one, and that probably two of your scholarship guys are going to end up being non-playable, against anything but the Delaware States of the world. Ending up at 5 makes you dangerously thin, and 9 is definitely taking too much away from other positions.

And drafting a RB, no matter how good, that high in the draft, is just a mistake. Even if they turn out to be a great NFL RB, it's still a mistake. You don't NEED a great running back to win consistently in the NFL, and using a pick that high for one is overspending.

05/25/2018 - 2:49pm Harbaugh has been raving about Evans

catching the ball out of the backfield since 2016, but he has yet to be used effectively for that in real games.

05/25/2018 - 9:29am 23 TD passes would still be averaging less than 2 per game

Which is good, but not great.  I'd like to see at least a 3:1 TD:INT ratio as well.  That would make the passing game an asset and not a liability.

05/25/2018 - 9:23am Our own 2008 team

with Steven Threet and Nick Sheridan at the controls, threw for more TDs than we did last year.

05/22/2018 - 6:47am And the bagmen and negative recruiters

get more of a chance to weigh in.

05/21/2018 - 3:18pm Lots of tantalizing stuff

But still a long way to Signing Day. Even the guys we might get a verbal from I'm not super confident about keeping until they're really committed.

05/20/2018 - 2:05pm Whatever OSU is doing

MSU has somehow managed to hold their own against them, win in Columbus and win the division, despite a significant talent gap.

Just sayin'.

05/20/2018 - 1:54pm Not satisfied

With only beating OSU once or twice a decade, when absolutely everything goes in our favor. That's not how Michigan state has beaten us 8 of the last 10 years.

05/20/2018 - 1:49pm The solution to that

is to beat the generic teams, AND Ohio State. Until we can do that, we're not getting anywhere near the Big Ten Championship

05/20/2018 - 1:37pm Are you saying

that the coaches choose to devise a brilliant game plan some weeks, but not others? Not sure that makes sense.

05/20/2018 - 1:35pm Yep

Just win. No talk. No excuses. Just win.

05/20/2018 - 10:17am Well, let's be honest

Beilein hasn't signed any of these guys yet.  Even if he gets verbals from them (and being in the top 5 or 6 is a long way even from that), there will still be schools working every day until Signing Day to steal them away.  Let's wait for those chickens to hatch.

05/20/2018 - 8:48am How long is "due time"?

6 years?  7?

The fact is, a lot of people here were predicting that Harbaugh would be pulling in elite recruits from day 1, because he knew how to coahc guys up for the NFL.  But having a big draft class last year has not been followed by a boost in recruiting.  Just the opposite.

05/20/2018 - 8:45am Two or three years ago

Who would have thought that Jimbo Fisher was a realistic option to ever coach at Texas A&M?

Things happen.  Things change.

05/20/2018 - 8:43am Fisher has won

a NC.  I would take that kind of joke here.

05/16/2018 - 7:01pm Agreed

Brute force football doesn't get it done any more. A fullback is just a battering ram on 98% of plays and has zero big play potential that the defense has to worry about.

05/16/2018 - 4:43pm Harbaugh is the one

coaching the QBs and getting them prepared to play. You can't give him credit for some parts of team readiness and not others.

05/14/2018 - 10:25pm Geez, leave the poor guy alone

Yeah, I know we need a left tackle.  But people need to stop putting their hopes for a good Oline on him.  Really.  Just leave him out of it, and be glad that he has two legs.

05/14/2018 - 6:16pm Heck, with all the things you can bet on

people could go broke before the game even finishes.

05/14/2018 - 6:14pm If you were a compulsive gambler

it wouldn't.  Your wallet, however, would feel empty in the end.

05/13/2018 - 5:41pm The problem is

That if we hadn't gotten another transfer QB, and if he hadn't been declared eligible immediately (which is a rare exception with non-grad transfers), we would STILL be looking at a non-ideal situation at quarterback, in Harbaugh's 4th year.

05/13/2018 - 12:57pm In practice, maybe

Let's wait and see what happens in real games that matter.

What are "assistance's", btw?

05/13/2018 - 12:54pm Well, there are reasons

that we didn't win those games.  Reasons that have nothing to do with bad weather, bad officials, bad scheduling, bad luck or bad karma.

05/13/2018 - 12:53pm You're quite right

People are dead sure that our 3 star safety (OT/LB/RB, etc) recruit will be just as good as their 5 star recruit at that position because the coaches "saw something they liked".  But you can't just coach talent and athleticism into and out of existence.  It doesn't take much of a difference between two players on opposing sides (one safety dropping a key INT while the other doesn't, for example) to make the difference between winning and losing, year after year.

05/13/2018 - 11:08am Failure of "execution"

often has as its deeper cause not having enough talent.  QBs who miss throws, dropped passes, runners who miss holes, defenders who miss tackles.  It all goes back to our players not being quite as good, and not making as many plays as the opposition.  And as we've seen, it only takes a few plays to turn a game.

05/12/2018 - 4:25pm Maybe you'd be happier

if they hadn't even tried?

05/12/2018 - 4:24pm Yep

Southern and West coast teams always have that advantage

05/12/2018 - 2:32pm We'll see

still tough to compete against the bag men

05/12/2018 - 2:28pm shoe business

is mud wrestling

05/12/2018 - 2:27pm good get

if we can get him

05/12/2018 - 2:26pm Weird

but whatever

05/12/2018 - 2:24pm Which is nutty

I can understand some lack of enthusiasm about Peters, who did not impress when given a chance, but Milton hasn't even gone under the banner yet.
