wolverines on kiper's draft lists
mel kiper released new draft lists today, and kiper caveats notwithstanding, below is the pertinent michigan info:
- QB - shea not listed
- RB - Higdon #5; not rated overall (which is a top 25)
- FB - none listed (mason is too young to be eligible)
- WR - none listed (all too young except perry)
- TE - none listed
- OT - none listed
- OG - Bredeson #3; not rated overall
- C - none listed (ruiz is too young)
- DE - Gary #2; #8 overall
- DT - none listed
- ILB - Bush #2; #6 overall
- OLB - Winovich #5; not rated overall (i guess Kiper considers Winovich to be a 3-4 OLB)
- CB - Long #7; Hill #8; no one rated overall
- S - none listed
- K/P - none listed (all too young)

damn it. i'm better than that! though apparently not in this instance.

Gary, Bredeson, Bush, Long, and Hill seem like the most likely early entrants. Hope at least one of the two CBs stay, as I think they could be first-round guys next year. Don't see many other likely early entrants other than possibly Shea. Gentry might also be draftable, if he wants to go.
November 14th, 2018 at 2:38 PM ^
Other than Kiper ranking him high among guards, I don't see how Bredeson is a likely early entrant. He's good but not great. OL rarely leave early. He's not going to be a first-rounder. I'd be shocked if he left.
November 14th, 2018 at 3:18 PM ^
Agreed, especially since Bredeson never redshirted. Even going pro next year puts him as a younger NFL entrant than most linemen.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:02 PM ^
I think both hill and long need to come back, they will go 4-5th rounds
November 14th, 2018 at 2:24 PM ^
think this means shea should stay another year....
gary at #8 overall means he's probably gone unless his mom wants that michigan degree first.
bush at #6 means he's gone.
higdon, winovich and bredeson are out of eligibility i believe.
November 14th, 2018 at 2:32 PM ^
Bredeson is a junior.
November 14th, 2018 at 3:20 PM ^
cool. i hope he comes back and finishes his degree.
November 14th, 2018 at 3:40 PM ^
Agree on Shea but not because of Kiper.
I know McCaffrey can't transfer w/o sitting (so he won't) but I hope he isn't going to be too discouraged. Would have been really interesting to see what would have it looked like if he started a couple of reasonably competitive games this year.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:02 PM ^
i'm very big on mccaffrey. think he has a higher upside but also like to have options.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:47 PM ^
It's hard to tell if Shea is going to stay or enter the draft. From my understanding he has one foot out of the door and if he plays reasonably well, he'll declare considering the weak QB class, he just might.
November 14th, 2018 at 6:44 PM ^
True 9n qll accounts. I'm just surprised Winovich not higher.
I think he's just too "sneaky athletic" and teams are discounting on that? I dunno?

I don't like this thread....I don't want to think about it....
November 14th, 2018 at 2:28 PM ^
But on a positive note...Rose gal still has these delicious hoodies for sale....
November 14th, 2018 at 3:01 PM ^
WHAT. THE. F. is with this "RoseGal" crap??? If it's not meat or hairy bellies it's tacky ass garbage that needs to GET OFF MY LAWN.
November 14th, 2018 at 3:13 PM ^
What would you do if on Christmas morning you received one of these sweatshirts as a gift?
I mean they must think there's a market for cheesy as hell shirts.....But then again have you ever strolled through Walmart? The same people who wear pajamas in public probably own multiple clothing items like this. Case in point.....
November 14th, 2018 at 3:20 PM ^
I have never been inside a walmart. I will never go inside a walmart. I will also never be inside a walmart shopper.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:00 PM ^
I guarantee one of those statements is false.
November 14th, 2018 at 2:29 PM ^
Man we are really going to do the whole "Ohio State Experience" this year arent we?
1. Win at Columbus
2. Lose a bunch of talented underclassmen to the NFL
3. Win the B1G East
4. Win the B1G Championship
5. Get selected for the final four
I could get used to this actually. I mean they can keep their shitty city, lack of academic prowess and protecting wife-beating assistant coaches but the rest of the stuff's pretty cool.
November 14th, 2018 at 2:36 PM ^
I feel like the B1G alignment has shifted to us this year and
for many years to come...mooooohhhhhaaaaaa.
November 14th, 2018 at 2:47 PM ^
I hope we also skip the part where we lose 31-0 in the semifinals. Give me that 2014 version, please!
November 14th, 2018 at 2:32 PM ^
Pretty sure Bredeson has another year of eligibility.
November 14th, 2018 at 2:32 PM ^
Surprised at no Gentry. He's a fourth-year player, a 6-7 TE, doesn't have a lot of receptions because Michigan doesn't throw much and his blocking isn't terrible. I was assuming he'd be gone, and maybe he still will. But man it would be nice to have him back.
November 14th, 2018 at 3:17 PM ^
Your comment perfectly explains why he's not ready:
1) Good, but not amazing receiving
2) Passable, but not good blocking
"Tall" doesn't get you very far in the draft. He's a work in progress in the two skills that a TE should have.
November 14th, 2018 at 6:46 PM ^
I mean, you could make the same argument about Gary.
"Stats don't match hype."
November 14th, 2018 at 3:34 PM ^
I would really like to see Zach back for one more season. He is one of my favorite players to watch! With him back, we will have an aMAIZING receiving core group!!
November 14th, 2018 at 2:36 PM ^
Wow, the comments on this thread are eerily similar to the comments on another thread!
November 14th, 2018 at 3:10 PM ^
Boooo
November 14th, 2018 at 3:22 PM ^
QB-Rumors seem to indicate Shea is coming back although if Michigan ends up making the CFP (and please Lord, win the whole thing), he might be gone. Would be okay with McCaffrey taking over, though.
TE-I see Gentry staying and ending up a 2nd Round pick after next year.
DL-Gary is gone.
LB-Bush is probably gone too. Hudson stays, though. Maybe tries to slide into Bush's spot and turn himself into a LB at the pro level?
CB-I really, really hope one of Long or Hill stays. This is potentially the biggest weakness on next years team if Long, Hill, and Watson are all gone.
November 15th, 2018 at 9:00 AM ^
Hudson is not a MLB. He's a LB/S tweener.
November 14th, 2018 at 3:26 PM ^
Bush and Gary will likely be gone, hard to pass up 1st round potential and $$. Bredeson needs another year with Big Bad Ben and would likely be a 3rd day pick. Would like to see Hill and Long back, at least 1, to QB the secondary.
100% guaranteed that at some point, Gary will be back for commencement and picking up his degree. He's a young man with a plan!

You're doing it wrong. Its "beat wives."
/whoops thought this was 11W.
November 14th, 2018 at 3:43 PM ^
If I'm right with my history Kiper is right about 10% of the time.
November 14th, 2018 at 4:05 PM ^
This should end well...
November 14th, 2018 at 4:53 PM ^
Bredeson at #3 G worries me a little. Not surprised about Shea even though he is having a fantastic year by college standards.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:02 PM ^
Agreed but to be drafted high as a guard you have to be really exceptional. Position-wise it's low-priority in the draft. #3 sounds high but it may be mid-round at best.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:18 PM ^
I think any NFL team that passes up on Chase is crazy . A death machine with a motor like that.
November 14th, 2018 at 5:22 PM ^
The Michigan fan in me hopes he goes 1st round
The Lions fan in me is hoping he falls to the Lions in the 2nd round
November 14th, 2018 at 5:21 PM ^
Love how high Bush and Winovich are getting in these mocks
I know Gary doesn't really have the production numbers that make you think Top 10 draft pick, but once NFL scouts see him at the combine I don't see any way he drops out of the Top 10
November 15th, 2018 at 8:39 PM ^
The disrespect shown towards our corners is a bit unsettling. How are neither Long nor Hill top 5 of all corners?
