it would be funny if Cleveland ends up hiring him...

seriously though, he won't have a problem getting a job next year if he wants.

it would be cool if he decided to take a year off and hang out in AA as a analyst though!

I think a SB win should get you a lifetime contract and lifetime support from fans.  I’m in the Green Bay area, and listening to these whiney brats talk about their coach is laughable.  These people have no idea how bad things can get!

There's a lot to unpack in this comment. On the surface, it would seem that you can only expect to hold a locker room together for so long, barring multiple titles (see: Belichick, Bill). Then again, you have organizations like the Steelers and Cowboys where the culture established by ownership is so strong that the whims of the players and public have negligible impact. But McCarthy is the worst of both worlds. No coach in the league gets less from more, yet there he is, year after year. Kudos to Rodgers for never turning on him, even though it has cost him the chance to displace Favre.

He'll probably take a rest - might see him around here for a year, or do some TV work and see who really is serious about building a strong team. He had a good situation in Baltimore with a good GM.

They did win a SB and had some great teams; the decline in the defense, the whole Ray Rice scandal, and Flacco being a normal human being QB who didn't continue to improve with time, so it was time. Ozzie Newsome will no longer be the GM and the window on Flacco is closing - so a major rebuild is in the future. They have Lamar Jackson but it sounds like he isn't Patrick Mahomes (yet?)

Maybe we can get one hell of an analyst for a year while he decides where he wants to coach next? Unlikely since he'll be scooped up quickly, but you never know.

Lions should fire Patricia and hire him. And no, this is not sarcasm. He’d be close to his family and would build a great staff, something Patricia has failed to do thus far.
