Shea gave tips about Staee defense to osu QB?

Submitted by Eastside Maize on November 7th, 2018 at 11:44 AM

osu QB Dwayne Haskins said he talked to Shea Patterson Tuesday about Michigan State. “I’ve known Shea since I was in 8th grade...I hit him up asking about how they play defensively, and he gave me some tips.”

Shea you’re from Toledo, you know this is no good!

What say you?

Did anyone watch just past the point they stopped asking about Shea? They asked Haskins who his favorite character on friends was!?!? These high profile college athletes and pro athletes have to get annoyed with some of the stupid and pointless questions they get asked. We need more MGoReporters in the world to ask football relevant questions.

I'm all good with this, so long as Shea doesn't give Dwayne any tips about OUR defense.

The gameplan for Ohio State is pretty simple, I would think. Running against MSU might be tough sledding, but damn -- just air it out all day long.

Anyone who thinks that conversation makes any difference at all to the outcome in either game is a little bit crazy.

You’ve got two quarterbacks who are friends comparing notes about a mutual opponent neither of them like. No big deal.  I kinda think OSU wins that game pretty easily based on MSU’s many offensive and defensive issues.

All you people wanting MSU to win so we lock up the B1G regardless are short sighted. Also just let Shea be a human dude.

1) If Michigan wants the best opportunity on it's own to make the CFP, it needs to be able to play a#5-7 OSU in Columbus. Even great wins against a few #14-20 teams may not stack up against a 1 loss sec team that beat 1-2 top teams handily.

2) if Meyer loses this weekend I give him a 85% chance of "medical leave" prior to the Michigan game, on his way out the door in order to protect his win record vs Michigan.

Your short sighted.  It doesnt matter.  It cancels out.  We already beat MSU.  If MSU wins (and wins their other games) we will have beaten a top 10 MSU team.

I am actually rooting for MSU only because i believe it will make our game with OSU easier, as they will have less to play for, and their locker room will be more cancerous.

If that's your response and why you negged me, I'm going to wear that with a badge of honor.

MSU won't be a top ten three loss B1G team. Period. 13 is probably their end of year ceiling even if they win out, and they won't. They will lose to Nebraska.

A loss makes our win mean less on every front than it does to decrease their will to win. It also makes it much more likely we never have the opportunity to beat Urban's buckeyes, yes? Let him stick around for the game as he is a large part of the issues down there.

Say what? Your second point would seem to contradict your position on people being short sighted. Nobody gives a shit about Urban’s record against UM outside of Urban. The only thing that matters is OSU record against UM. You don’t hear people discounting OSU wins against UM prior to Harbaugh.

edit: reply was to ArbLover’s earlier post.

It's like this:

First: play with immense intensity

Second: be able to run on them

Third: have the best fucking defense in the world

And OSU won't be able to do any of these things this Saturday.

WHY would he help OSU???  if MSU wins were locked into the Conference Title game as a worst case scenario...makes NO Sense

Maybe Shea give him tips on MSU's D in exchange for Haskins giving tips on Rutge.....hahahaha I can't even type this with a straight face

Haskins has really struggled to run the ball against most teams this season. Some posters on here were stating that he will be a zero run threat against Michigan.

Though how many people paid attention to him talking about why he ran well against Michigan during our last game against OSU?

His running actually helped decide that game.

Haskins isn't going to beat us much with his read option runs, but he might get some decent runs against our man coverage defense.

Our linebackers are an all around quicker unit this season. So hopefully they'll be able to better shut down any possible runs by him against our man coverage defense.

Only thing I learned from this thread is that Shea is far more confident that we'll kill OSU than most of the people who read this blog.

I'm ok with that.

This guarantees OSU's victory in EL. Not because of the tips about defense, but because it gives them an excuse..an excuse that also allows them to blame Michigan. Perfect scenario really for them to take a L.

I'd be shocked if Shea was giving him information that OSU's coaches don't already know or haven't already seen on tape. The two of them are supposed to be really good friends, so I'm not going to get worked up over this.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend and all that.

And honestly, for all the crap we give college athletes and rivals, it's nice to be reminded that they are human beings and can have relationships like this.

Shea seems like a genuinely great person.  I think he has helped bring the team together with their humbleness and the way they deflect individual compliments to the team.

He was probably just having a regular conversation with an old friend.  I personally am happy to see players from one team engage with players from another team.  It reminds me that football is only a game and these are real human beings that are engaged in much bigger things than just entertaining me while i sit on my ass and drink beer on Saturdays.

It does not matter...State is going to tank intentionally.  Dantonio would do anything to harm Michigan including losing.  If MSU wins, Michigan is in the BIG championship game, so Dantonio is going to throw it.  Lewerke is hurt.  He cant throw the ball.  But guess who is playing...Lewerke.

Also, about the it doesn't matter what happens in the game...Do you think that O$U is getting as high for the UofM game if they have no chance to get to the BIG title game?  Nope...The boys that go to O$U for the money, winning, and the pros are not getting up for this one.

The moral of the story is take O$U -3.5.

I don’t care about this at all. But, it is funny that Haskins asks Shea, the QB of the most opposite offense possible.

FL_Steve

November 7th, 2018 at 3:28 PM ^

maybe Haskins will return the favor for when we play them...

Regardless, I like that on some cognitive level, Haskins is now indebted to Shea, and ergo, Michigan.  I'll take any and ever advantage we can get to facilitate the potential blowout. Hail!

Football is a pretty insular community, and I have to believe that there are many players that know other players currently playing for a hated rival of their school. The funny thing about friendship - even being an acquaintance sometimes - is that it transcends those things. I am OK with that aspect of being human.

I couldn’t care less if Shea talked to Haskins. I hate OSU but I hate MSU even more and I hope OSU just thrashes them.

We can beat OSU ourselves & win the East. We don’t need nor do I want MSU’s help.

Haskins is damned good.  The DL needs to get to him.

Just watched the clip on youtube.

The reporters are idiots.

I think Shea was checking his Twitter account a couple of times in the pocket during the game. Shea had so much time he could have posted his thoughts on the game while playing it.
