Add on 2021 and 2022 so far…

Add on 2021 and 2022 so far and that’s not true…we went from unranked to 3 last year and 8 to 2 so far this year for a net 28.  ND went 9 to 8 and 5 to 21 for a net drop of 15.

The problem is that with…

The problem is that with college football there is just such a small sample size of meaningful out of conference games to just conference strength on.

Sure it looks like Alabama and Georgia were both better than the other teams in hindsight and maybe you can claim the eye test said so all year for Georgia at least...but when the entire SEC has played 3-4 total games against decent teams from other conferences you just don't know.  What you do know is that Bama was the better team on that day in the SEC title game, let other conferences have a shot after that.

In 2006 everyone was certain Michigan and OSU were easily the top 2 to the point where we almost got a rematch in the title game before that was common in the SEC.  Turned out once you put them up against Florida and USC that they weren't really all that.

Not excluding any games like…

Not excluding any games like you did for Georgia, quick scan of our schedule it looks like we are right around the same 21-22 minutes depending on how the seconds add up with 8.5 or so against Nebraska, 5 against MSU, 2.5 against Penn State, and 5.5 against OSU.

Almost all of those the Q4…

Almost all of those the Q4 pts are in line with what they had Q1-Q3 except for 2017.  Basically we lost a bunch of games where we had low point outputs and that included Q4.

* 12-1 Pitt who LOST to Western Michigan

I cant speak for the SEC…

I cant speak for the SEC teams, but based on their description of the stat they are using I am not surprised by Iowa State.  They severely outgained their opponents in both losses (even a decent margin on the yards per play it appears).  The Iowa game was lost on a 4-0 turnover comparison which I don't believe is accounted for here and the Baylor game they gave up a 98 yard kickoff return and a 41 yard punt return which again I don't believe is accounted for here.  So to the formula those games both likely look positive for Iowa State.

He’s barely averaging 3 yards a carry on those 13 carries

There is a Wisconsin in…

There is a Wisconsin in Great Lakes and Midwest (although technically only one name since they are both literally Wisconsin).

Definitely interesting that…

Definitely interesting that it’s close to 50/50.  I would bet the celebration of the no hitter would be due to the much higher impact on win expectancy.

3. Everyone else

Despite the absurdity of it…

Despite the absurdity of it...the use of travel and airborne in the title sent my mind to a plane somehow hitting a turtle like they do geese.  The actual subject was thoroughly disappointing in comparison.

How many times are they…

How many times are they going to get caught this year?

So early in the game that it…

So early in the game that it happened 2 games earlier.

Plus why in the world would…

Plus why in the world would banners come up at that point in the middle of a game? Would make more sense if an MSU player/coach said it when we beat them last Thursday

I would guess the 10-12…

I would guess the 10-12 seeds are worse off in this analysis than the 13-16 specifically because the 10-12 win that first game at a decent rate and there is a big drop off after that.  If a 13 seed wins their first game then there is a decent chance they have a 12 in round 2, but the 12 does not have as good of a chance of it being the 13.

Weimy, I think you missed the quote level on those three as they all appear to be agreeing with you/disagreeing with mrjblock.

Henne got one last year when KC won

Doesnt change it much, but I…

Doesnt change it much, but I think anything larger than 4 would likely come with a Power 5 conference champ auto-inclusion so Oregon would likely be the 8 seed and probably drop Florida to keep Cincinnati in for a single non-Power 5 auto inclusion as well.

Defense got worse every year…

Defense got worse every year as the Hoke/Durkin era recruits filtered out.  His scheme worked well enough (OSU games excluded) when we had top CB and DT talent...but he has failed to recruit and develop that.

And yet it’s completely…

And yet it’s completely logical, although whether either is a good idea remains to be seen.

in the end education is much more important that football, meaning that it is worth taking on higher risk.  They already went remote for all classes they felt they could.

I’m trying to be apart of a movement to drive the hate out of society.

You can say that again.

Not really important as I…

Not really important as I agree with your overall statement, but students these days aren't millennials.  Millennials are roughly 24-39 now.

There is actually a scene in…

There is actually a scene in a “local bar” and it has an old Michigan - PSU game on.

My point was that you…

My point was that you brought up how tough it is to know how to deal with students saying it to each other in a thread about a teacher (coach) saying it. I would assume you would feel much clearer that you need to act if that occurred.

What about if another…

What about if another teacher called a student it?

I appreciate that they truly…

I appreciate that they truly feel that it is helping the situation, but this is still purely anecdotal evidence as opposed to an actual study with a placebo to determine actual impacts.  With the side effects being reported, its tough to say it is worth it without any strong evidence of a benefit.

Not saying the increasing…

Not saying the increasing fines are the right move, but the "Stay In Place" orders are more than just about you being away from other people.  It also limits vehicle traffic and therefore traffic accidents that could further burden the health systems that are already maxed out.

The problem with banner…

The problem with banner/Madden type curses is you will usually appear on them around a high point...which inevitably means most occurrences will have a drop off after appearing.

We can choose to consume…

We can choose to consume things, as much as possible, that are consistent with what our species consumed as we evolved.

You mean like when we all died by 40?

But that means that if you…

But that means that if you get the shot then we will win the Big Ten, do it for the team!

I saw it as a “Let’s Go Blue” chant

The non OSU portion of the…

The non OSU portion of the big ten is also much better than back then.  You hate in Rutgers but it wasn’t that long ago that Wisconsin was a tomato can.

Why not have someone back to…

Why not have someone back to return the FG at the end of regulation? It was catchable, might as well let one of our athletes take a shot against a unit not meant to be tackling anyone.

They even retroactively put the basketball team in the Elite 8 per the article! Time to celebrate!

I would assume PFF isn’t…

I would assume PFF isn’t giving good grades to players for just “not being the guy that screwed up”.  Even if most plays had the tackles get run around, this grade would still mean the performed well when they were tested.

That’s assuming it was your…

That’s assuming it was your favorite school for you and not your parents favorite school for you.

I’m curious how you came to…

I’m curious how you came to the conclusion that the schedule is harder next year.  All you did was replace Northwestern with Iowa (the team that lost to Northwestern) and switch the big 3 to be at home.

You can’t put our O at 13…

You can’t put our O at 13 through 3 quarters and still say OSU had 41...they had a blocked punt for a TD and an interception at the 20 so if our O scored 13 then theirs scored 27.

Hopefully he asks Lewerke as…

Hopefully he asks Lewerke as well about what he did against us so he can replicate it.

They had 5 yards of total…

They had 5 yards of total offense on that garbage time drive so that’s not really true

I can’t remember if there…

I can’t remember if there was a TD specifically on a slant but that does not mean they aren’t a problem.  The slants have been used to get in position to score on other easy plays once they got close.  My assumption would be that once we get into the red zone we can shift away from the slot fade outside positioning since it isn’t really a threat anymore and better cover the slants at this point.  There’s always going to be something that you have to give up though and this limits the big plays and requires the other team to continue to execute.

11-16 technically

Also OSU…

11-16 technically

Also OSU has beat teams with a combined 15-19...there is a built in number of losses with the teams you beat after all...

The first one looks like ND,…

The first one looks like ND, probably 2003? So yes easily.

The second one is clearly an OSU game so no.

It should also be noted that…

It should also be noted that the D only gave up 17 to Wisconsin since they had a punt return TD.

So basically PSU put up points, OSU did enough to outgun O’Korn, and Wisconsin put up nothing much.  3 top 50 putting up an avg 32 is so misleading when only 1 team even put up that much and the one of the 3 that wasn’t top 5-10 only got 17.

You keep harping on the fact…

You keep harping on the fact that it’s already slanted towards the major programs/sports...why does that make it not an issue to further slant it in that direction?

If you are a mid/upper-level D1 wrestling prospect and a low level Football prospect, right now you would likely pursue wrestling...but now let’s say you can get paid to sit on a bench for a decent football program and graduate or you can play and potentially compete at the top level in wrestling but earn no endorsement money...you don’t see any issue with that?  If so I have no reason to continue this discussion because we clearly just have very different ideas of priorities.

I don’t really see how this…

I don’t really see how this changes the issue of funneling players to major programs and major sports.

It also adds another question of how long does this money get locked up for?  Whatever company the money comes from has to have it available for the athlete upon graduation but do they have to graduate within a certain number of years? Or could they come back 70 years later at 90 years old and want their money?
