this is my Magnum Opus.

FUCK STANFORD!

Also, we discussed ways to tweak the formula in a previous thread, and I'm not so sure this one is the way to go:

The National Association of College Directors of Athletics (NACDA) has been ranking athletic programs for years by weighing every sport equally, meaning a football national title is worth the same number of points (100) as a women's water polo title. CBS Sports tweaked the formula in 2013, providing additional weight toward sports with more broad fan bases and media interest. We rate every FBS school in three sports -- football, men's basketball and women's basketball -- along with two "wild cards" among the school's most successful spectator sports: baseball, softball, volleyball, soccer, gymnastics, lacrosse, hockey and wrestling.

It seems like weighting championships based on the number of teams at the D-1 level competing at the sport makes more sense than fan appeal, but that's my own take.

I was watering my garden last night with a hail to the Victor's shirt on. State neighbor told me I was "so concieted". (As if Spartan strong is any more accurate).

Might have to wear a different hail shirt tonight.

There are many arbitrary measuring sticks in life. That this is one that Michigan comes out on top in is not a reason not to applaud. My undergrad education, which included a physical education degree informs me that there is a significant lack of knowledge regarding the purposes of interscholastic sports among even the most ardent of fans-maybe even more so in this fanatic group. The fact is that here, in this larger picture, the Athletic Department at the University of Michigan is well ahead of the curve. Really, the quality of the athletic experience across the board at the U of M should be widely appreciated and celebrated.
