It is probably true and hope he recovers. Him and his wife are still liars who didn't have the decency to help another human being and did not have the guts to tell the truth. No health issue will change that. But I truly hope he recovers and reevaluates what is important in life.

Yep. The warm weather and laid back California lifestyle by the ocean will be sold as important emotional health and stress level benefits to aid his condition. Blue blood program across the country tracking around .500, current team performing below their normal levels due to poor assistant coaching, health issues...it's deja vu all over again.

Someone might have already written this but that Columbus Cyst he has, assuming it is real and causing Urban the problems he says it is, might be the work of KARMA for all of his lies and cover ups in the past.

Just saying.

I can't imagine what it'd be like to have severe headaches that pop up whenever they feel like.  That said, the timing of this is clearly to mitigate the other issues going on.  I have sympathy for his physical pain the emotional toll that can take, but not for the public situation he's created.

The amount of people on this thread rejoicing about this or something close is staggering. Be better, people.

So maybe I'm not the best person ever. I can tell you that I'd have more sympathy if Meyer wasn't an objectively terrible human being.

Also, I don't doubt the veracity of these statements, but the fact is that he's announcing health issues right about the time we were all expecting some "health issues".

It's probably true and there's no reason to not believe him, but that doesn't change the fact that it's very odd that this is all coming out now and that nobody's ever heard about this before (he claimed to have heart problems at Florida, didn't he?) And on top of that, the timing is hard to ignore. VERY hard to ignore.

he claimed to have heart problems at Florida, didn't he?

The arachnoid cyst was actually way before Florida. Urban said he had his first episode back in the 90s when he was still a WR coach for Notre Dame when he collapsed during a blinding headache.

Since then, he has had the brain cyst surgically drained 2-3 times and most recently during the 2014 offseason. The surgery has a lot of risks, so they usually only do it when the pain becomes unbearable to function. Otherwise, they attempt to manage the pain with medications... which also happens to be the medications blamed for Urban's memory loss.

Also, as a side note... Urban complained of "heart attack-like" pain while he was at Florida, which was later diagnosed to be stress-induced "esophageal spasms." One of the common symptoms of esophageal spasms is chest pain.

The fact is that he's announcing health issues right about the time we were all expecting some "health issues".

I mean to be fair, Urban has been peppered with questions about it since he collapsed during the game 2-3 weeks ago. Eventually, Urban was going to have to give a definitive answer as to what happened.

Really?  Urban Meyer is a piece of shit human being that has done more damage than dozens of bad people.  His contribution to the filthy corruption that college football is becoming is almost unforgivable.

There isn't a lot of justice in the world.

I am always happy when I see some dished out.

meh, i’m not exactly happy that he has health issues (which may actually be real this time), but i’m also not not enjoying the fact that a self-righteous douchebag is suffering a bit. it seems almost karmic, as he’s been more than willing to disregard the suffering of others so long as his team keeps winning.

I started thinking that we should be better people, but he's the boy who cried wolf.  You can only lie so many times before people don't believe you and actually hope for the worst.   If this thing is going to kill him and cripple him I feel bad.  If he's using it to garner public sympathy after being a scumbag then....

Edit:  Took me a minute to finish my post and three other people all said the same thing.  It is hard for someone to be this unsympathetic.

Is there a link to an actual story or was this just a tweet,? I'm curious if he has meningioma. My wife does, and she has to have periodic ct scans until it's so big it has to be removed. And thankfully it's benign in most cases.

I really am embarrassed and saddened by the tone of the majority of the comments in this thread. Many of you simply believe that Meyer is a dishonest, cheating, douchebag, slimeball, terrible coach. Many of you believe that he "got what was coming to him," that this is deserved, is justice, is karma, etc. Many of you believe that it is all a convenient story, a tale concocted to give him an easy out. It is my hope that Michigan always wins. But the vitriol, the hatred, the animosity so many have does not reflect well on you or on Michigan. I don't wish ill on any player, or in this case, on any coach. I want to see Meyer treated successfully, so that he doesn't have to deal with debilitating pain the rest of his life.

Full disclosure, Buckeye fan here. I popped on to catch the reaction from the other side. Frankly, it IS disgusting. If something were to happen to Harbaugh, yes there would be a percentage of OSU fans that would have a similar reaction to what is going on here, but I can almost guarantee that it would not be close to the 90%+ that I see here.

Unfortunately, I think you underestimate the amount of people that would genuinely take joy out of a situation like that. When things like this happen, most of the comments on social media or boards like this are from the lowest of a fan base that want to be the funny guy or truly have so much hate that they can’t separate football and real life.

When I saw the story I have to admit I was a little skeptical and even thought to myself that the timing does seem convenient given the way everything is playing out. I do not wish any ill will on urban Meyer and find no joy in his pain.

Joel Klatt and Cowherd said he was going west a month back. USC is where he is going. The warm weather will help with the cyst.

I don't know man.  7th consecutive year at Ohio State. 77-9 thus far. His longest coaching stint yet.  He just doesn't seem like that happy, fiery self anymore. Wha happon?

Jeez, this thread is disgusting.  That's a serious problem and can cause lifelong issues, of the 'make you crazy and/or demented' variety.  I knew someone who had it and it was as if he'd had a stroke: he was mostly fine but not really.   I feel bad for the guy and hope he recovers and Harbaugh kicks his ass at full-strength.
