"Metellus Reveals How His 73-Yard Pick-Six Almost Never Happened"
An Mgoblue bit that I didn't see discussed. (Metellus asked to be taken out of the game because of cramping, but Partridge said no.) https://mgoblue.com/news/2018/9/15/football-kornacki-metellus-reveals-how-his-73-yard-pick-six-almost-never-happened.aspx

That's pretty much what it felt like.
When on land between races, you have a water bottle in your hand wherever you go. Take a leak right before you get hands on the boat, go do your 45 minute warm up on the water, 2k race (which takes about 6 minutes) and then paddle back to shore, strap down the boat, go take another leak.
Rinse, repeat for 2 straight days.

Living in Tucson, during the summer there are constant PSAs reminding people to keep a bottle of water with them. Hell, driving through town everyone on the street has one with them. I know from experience out here that the effects of dehydration sneak up quickly.
I am glad that I am not the only one who was thinking that there is more reported cramping going on. Every game I watch 3 or 4 players are stretched out on the ground for it. The idea of a new supplement is an intrigues me though.

My urine is always yellow...always. And someone once said I'm not drinking water enough, and not so until it is clear... Can someone with knowledge chime in here please...

Sorry buddy, but it sounds like you’ve got AIDS.

What’s your skin color like? Do you by any chance look like a Simpsons character intermittently? You could have something benign called Gilbert’s Syndrome and be peeing out excess degraded bilirubin.

It’s 2018, dude. You can’t go around asking people what their skin color is like.

Whoa, that’s a pretty intense hydration expectation. Did any of your fellow rowers ever have siezures from hyponatremia?

Debbie Downer and all of her family are Michigan fans. That is all.

When he cut back to the middle, all I kept thinking was that he was going to be pulled down at the 1. The way the game felt at that point, it would have been the least surprising thing.

The clock didn't run out until he was lying in the endzone, so if he had been tackled sooner, the offense (or the field goal unit) should have had at least one play.

I am glad you pointed this out. I noticed this as well and have been slightly annoyed by some of the people (the play-by-play announcer from the BTN broadcast crew in particular) who have suggested that time expired much earlier.
I'm not sure why it bothers me. I think it carries a little hint of concern trolling (ballsy play going for the TD, maybe he should have just gotten into FG range and stepped out like a responsible player would have done...).
Or maybe I am just getting old and crochety.

The BTN clock showing clear time left as various BTN announcers repeatedly suggested it was score-or-half was a bit ridiculous. Sonny Dykes should have demanded a kickoff!
I took it as "let's make this a high drama moment" but given it was Metellus, concern trolling seems a reasonable interpretation.

Looks like he hit the 1 at the 3 second mark. So it's either or field goal or Harbaugh taking a gamble for no points by trying for the TD.
Just glad he made it in.

I thought this was going to be a, "What if Hitler's mom, Klara, had terminated her pregnancy, given that she had already lost 4 toddlers to illness?" kind of counterfactual thing. But I guess asking to be taken out right before the play means that the pick-6 really almost did not happen.

So Hitler would have to build a time machine and kill his grandfather?

Solid job everyone, time to go home.

Somewhat off topic but does everyone that writes for online publications these days have an app that scans an article and spits out a click-bait title? "Josh Metellus 'Reveals' how his interception 'Almost didn't happen'"? Feels like "You'd be 'shocked' to find this interception almost didn't happen" or "Josh Metellus almost taken out of game but you'll never guess what happens next" were also options.

On a lighter note, it's kinda cute how Metellus is dating softball's Tera Blanco. Now I'm imagining their coaches co-chaperoning their dates, with Hutch telling them to get pizza and Harbaugh insisting on steak and whole milk.

That would make a great commercial

Can't believe no one brought this up unless I overlooked it, but just because they play at UM doesn't mean they aren't used to hot weather. Look where Metellus is from, he's from Florida. I'm sure most of you have been to Florida and can attest to how hot and humid it is. I live in South Carolina and its currently in the 90's with high humidity usually through September into October and Florida is usually a little warmer.
Not discounting the fact he was likely dehydrated and even cramping, but remember most players aren't from Michigan and a large number are from the south where they are used to it.

Tera Blanco is dating MAAR...not Metellus

We were there for the game and as he scored the guy sitting next to said, “Did you notice how he just ran out of gas as he dove into the end zone?” I did notice. Had no idea he had been cramping up. It was a great play for him after the previous pass interference call.
