Outcoached by Herm Edwards... Priceless.
September 9th, 2018 at 2:33 AM ^
I stand by my preseason MSU record prediction of 8-4 or 9-3.
September 9th, 2018 at 2:37 AM ^
While that's certainly possible -- a night game in the desert was never going to be an easy task -- they've looked really, really bad two weeks in a row. They certainly may improve, but if they don't figure out their issues in the secondary, they're going to have a long season.
September 9th, 2018 at 7:25 AM ^
If we don’t get to use the road environment as an excuse for a loss, neither do they.
September 9th, 2018 at 2:37 AM ^
Really went out on a limb there!
September 9th, 2018 at 2:42 AM ^
Before the season started a lot predicted Sparty a double digit win team and had already marked our game with them a loss.
September 9th, 2018 at 10:02 AM ^
Add in the fact that the herbstreit wannabe mcelroy made the comment more than once that msu is a possible playoff team. "They brought back 19 starters....." 8-4 would not be a good look nationally for sparty. Wait, actually, never mind, no one nationally cares about sparty. They could be 12-1 or 3-9 and sign the same top 50 recruiting class, and garner ZERO attention.
September 9th, 2018 at 2:38 AM ^
Sparty was over-rated.
They should be 0-2.
Michigan rolls either of these teams (Sparty Super Bowl be damned)
I guess Tom Izzo didn't really help, either, although he can help them talk about taking bullets after this loss...
September 9th, 2018 at 2:47 AM ^
They have serious issues in the secondary but the most glaring issue is they do not have a good running game. They didn’t run the ball well last year as well. You have to throw against MSU to beat them, they sell out to shut down the running game.
September 9th, 2018 at 3:14 AM ^
their oline is even worse than Michigans
September 9th, 2018 at 3:45 AM ^
On a positive note LJ Scott hasn’t fumbled in 2 games. But he only had 87yds and 18yd rushing performances in those games. As a team they ran for 63 tonight, hardly in imposing stat line.
September 9th, 2018 at 8:56 AM ^
Which they will do to us. Hopefully our oline gets better or we are not going to score much
September 9th, 2018 at 3:09 AM ^
Scrolled by RCMB to see the backlash. Theyre tacking it pretty well. One guy said AZ State and Utah State will both be top 25 teams by the time the season ends.
September 9th, 2018 at 3:48 AM ^
Did they say the same about the Chips, who got pasted at home against the worst program in college football? That would be a rich preemptive call prior to their week 4 loss. Hey whatever makes them feel better.
September 9th, 2018 at 3:51 AM ^
To be fair, I think he said "could be". I could see asu finishing there if their QB becomes more consistent. They do have some talent.
However, I live 30 min from USU and can tell you no one in Utah thinks they can even sniff the top 25.
September 9th, 2018 at 5:35 PM ^
Similar sentiments were prominent here after we played Cincy and Air Force last year. They finished a combined 9-15.
msu is legitimately struggling. If Indiana can knock them off their next game the wheels are officially coming off. Go Hoosiers!
September 9th, 2018 at 6:51 AM ^
Next time Sparty should schedule a cupcake for their season opener instead of back to back powerhouses.
September 9th, 2018 at 10:26 AM ^
If only I could upvote.
September 9th, 2018 at 8:03 AM ^
MSU has much worse o-line problems than Michigan right now.
Teal ribbon gang generated only 63 yards of net rushing against ASU. ASU does not have an elite front 7.
MSU passing game is decent, but so far their offense is one dimensional.
September 9th, 2018 at 8:05 AM ^
I went to bed at halftime. Waking up to this news is better than morning sex!
September 9th, 2018 at 11:48 AM ^
That's only b/c in Russia, morning sex has you.
September 9th, 2018 at 11:49 AM ^
I watched the end of the game AND had morning sex!
September 9th, 2018 at 8:06 AM ^
Dantonio is 14-14 over his last 28 games
That is all
September 9th, 2018 at 9:07 AM ^
This is an awesome comment.
It also shows why stats such as “we are 9-9 over the last 18 (pre-yesterday),” are silly. It all depends where you choose to start your sample. Go back a season further and harbaugh’s record looks better. Start the Dentonio sample a season later (to exclude 2016) and he looks better.
September 9th, 2018 at 9:24 AM ^
I saw another one that I liked. Someone on Twitter- maybe Scott Bell- cited our game yesterday as a “non-traditional rivalry” as it featured the only FBS teams in the state with winning records for each of the past 2 years.
September 9th, 2018 at 8:06 AM ^
The rational side of my brain says that Sparty had a hard time with the late night game time and the heat. The football side of the brain says that their practice time this week was divided. 5% Arizona State preparation, 95% preparation for Michigan
September 9th, 2018 at 12:52 PM ^
during the late game when it became tied, i was thinking this is good, now MSU will have to get out of their vanilla package and show something. then i thought, in 2016 they didn't do that. i honestly think they sacrifice wins to save plays for UM.
September 9th, 2018 at 8:17 AM ^
Sparty OL is not good, tackles are pitiful
cb are weak
September 9th, 2018 at 9:29 AM ^
I like laughing at them. But they will also play their best game of the year vs us and have key players who will be back when they play us.
September 9th, 2018 at 8:18 AM ^
B1G teams drop to 0-10 all-time in non-conference games at Arizona State.
And that 0-10 record includes some good teams. It's just a spot where it's tough to win.
September 9th, 2018 at 8:20 AM ^
I went to bed after the 1st quarter ended. Colorado beating Scott Frost was awesome but otherwise, waaaaay too many bitch teams won yesterday. And I wasn't going to take the chance of seeing it happen once more.
If me not watching helped in any way, I'll try to miss more MSU games.
September 9th, 2018 at 8:33 AM ^
How would Bizarro Nick Sheridan spin this:
"Since embarrassing themselves, college football, and the entire State of Michigan against Alabama in 2015, the Dantonio-led Spartans have gone 14-13.
This, obviously, is on Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio. His preparation failed. His changes have yet to work. And his continued recruitment of felons, sexual deviants and racist half-wits has led to predictable results.
Overall, MSU made mistakes that it can, presumably, clean up. My gut says the defense will play better.
And State showed some life in the third quarter.
But that offensive line is beyond troubling.
And the lack of explosive plays is beyond concerning.
On this night, it looked a lot like the last two seasons.
When the Spartans went 13-12.
And that’s on Dantonio."
Wow, that was easy! it's almost like I just lifted entire sections of the Free Press, and substituted in "Dantonio" and "MSU"!
September 9th, 2018 at 8:40 AM ^
One could have predicted the temp of that game 50 years ago. September highs in Phoenix average 100 degrees, but honestly, the hot desert heat is much more sufferable than the hot humid temps in the southeast (even in Michigan during recent heat waves) this time of the year. It’s the sun that can be the scorcher in the desert, and that looked light a night game to me.
At any rate, Sparty citing “heat” as their excuse is plain BS. I’m pretty sure both teams always play in the same weather conditions, regardless of what they may be.

Herm is a class act... Like that he got that signature win
September 9th, 2018 at 9:13 AM ^
I don't know if you guys could hear what Herm said during their post game handshake but he said......
"you play to win the game!"
September 9th, 2018 at 9:14 AM ^
Herm already has more wins than I thought he would have before I expected him to be inevitably fired.
His team came to win the game. Good job Herm!
September 9th, 2018 at 9:17 AM ^
MSU plays a “marquee” game when no one is up to watch, and can’t even win. Doh!
September 9th, 2018 at 9:27 AM ^
O great. Now they have one of those early meaningless losses that can "bring the team together" so they can feast on the chips of disrespkt that you clowns will serve endlessly as Herm Edwards Meme's.
Awesome
September 9th, 2018 at 10:14 AM ^
So when Sparty went 3-9, that was because the MGoBoard properly respected them?
September 9th, 2018 at 3:12 PM ^
Maybe one or two losses were on the board, most were on their #12 pre-season ranking.
Exact same thing happened this year. Shocker.
September 9th, 2018 at 9:27 AM ^
Love me some Herm.
September 9th, 2018 at 10:11 AM ^
MSU just did this so when we beat them it wouldn’t end the losing games against ranked teams on the road streak. They out here just doing what they can to fuck Michigan
September 9th, 2018 at 10:21 AM ^
Your welcome, wolverines.
September 9th, 2018 at 11:39 AM ^
If we combined MSUs O-line with our O-line we would still be lacking good tackle play. MSUs DBs played awful.
September 9th, 2018 at 1:19 PM ^
I'm launching a campaign to make this the new official "Sparty No!" video for this site (check the logo on the guy's shorts)
September 9th, 2018 at 1:59 PM ^
wow Tony Mandarich has really let himself go
September 9th, 2018 at 3:55 PM ^

September 9th, 2018 at 1:56 PM ^
S/O to Coach Herm! Everyone clowned the hire...yet 2 weeks in he has the best record out of the new coaches, with a top 15 win to boot.
September 9th, 2018 at 4:04 PM ^
Had buddies in town from MSU and picked up a cheap ticket to the game with their group. There were quite a few spartys in town so the stadium was full and suprisingly loud for a change, almost as loud as the annual Territorial Cup (UofA vs ASU). Our seats backed up to a concrete partition that was radiating 100 degree heat even with the sun down so it was brutal. Live, it was clear MSU has O line issues along w us so should be interesting and if it comes down to strength of defenses, should be a walk for us.
