You mean guys like JayHarbaugh - who I happen to like personally, but whom has zero business pulling down a six figure salary as a vital position coach.  Funny how our staff acts like we’re all plush and luxurious with money regardless of on-field performance.  What gives Jim the ability to provide his son with a sweet OJT spot at the expense of our RBs?   If we were killing it with high performing RBs against top D’s, maybe but I’m tired of hearing that Jay’s such a great recruiter.   Is he?   But so what if he is, he can be on the team as a recruiter while we still train our excellent RBs with a true experienced RB or proven RB coach.  Michigan does not have the luxury of doing what it’s currently doing.   If you look back, many things began tanking with the team with the departure of Coach Wheatley (and JeddFisch).   I’m just saying...........with so many issues on the O-side, how do not require we tighten up at all corners?

If an econ prof tried to hire their inexperienced kid as a TA for $300,000/year they'd get fired.

Really bad optics even if the kid is a great coach.

Surprise surprise, Shea is running for his life as the game hangs in the balance on that last drive.  Fuck if I couldn't have scripted that series.  I just knew the O line would let us down again.  Wiscy can turn 2- and 3-star recruits into a serviceable++ O line.  Why can't we?  It makes no sense.

McCaffrey read the defense better for the little time he was in there.   Why not leave him in Harbaugh?   This myopic, sticking to the original game plan instead of adjusting, is old on offense. Don adjusted at halftime.   Why can't we on offense?   Yeah, yeah, the O-line remains porous.  Man this is old.

Totally agree -- McCaffrey looked more comfortable, saw the field better, and got the ball out on time. I'd rather have a 6'5" QB than a 6'0" QB as they can see over the defense. Patterson looked nervous even in warm ups and had a bad case of happy feet throughout the game.

I don't get trying to rush a QB with cramping issues back into the game at that point -- made no sense at all.

I’m staying on the bandwagon, the TEAM will get better! It’s the 1st game against a tough opponent, you can’t win em' all. I’ll just sit back and watch the coaches work their magic. We have 2 serviceable quarterbacks and I believe in H's QB development. The coach’s will figure it out. JUST BEAT That school down south!

What’s the difference between watching this game and watching the team from Hokes last year? Did anyone actually expect us to tie at the end?  With this offense, shit is preordained.

Next year...

But seriously, what was that? Everything on offense was off. Even when we scored late, running the ball. Taking forever to hike the damn ball. Every time shea clapped and the ball didn't move I caught myself grinding my teeth more.

The coaches are the problem. Period. Mock me with impunity. I dont care. This same story is getting old.

As someone earlier mentioned, Notre Dame was totally fine with letting us score the last touchdown running the ball in. We waisted so much time doing it.

All this hype for Shea... why? Look at his stats in big games. I didn't understand it when he came here. I still dont. 4 years in and we have a transfer QB, a busted o-line, and to be honest... a coach that looks clueless.

Winovich and Bush deserve better than this crap. We all do.

Agreed that the OL was most of the problem.  I thought Shea played good and I think he will do well by us.  But one thing that worries me a little is he seems to be the type that doesn't throw the ball away when under pressure.  He'll try to make something happen with his legs which ends up in a sack most of the time.  He's got to kick that habit.

I'm a Philadelphia Eagles fan. It's clear Harbaugh fell in love with the RPO.

Newsflash Harbaugh, we had a top 5 Oline last year, Jay Ajayi in the backfield, Alshon Jeffery and Zach Ertz. Oh and a 6'7 Pac 12 west coast QB.

You established a culture of jumbo sets and play action attacking down field. Yet you take this offensive line that cant pass block one on one and spread the field with 4-5 raw receivers and a 3 star running back and try to dink and dunk up the field?

Harbaugh made out like a bandit with his contract. 1-6 against his rivals. Yeesh.

OT play was terrible. Playcalling questionable but guess what? The OT play was so bad that it doesn’t matter.

I seriously doubt we would’ve won this game with these two at tackle. Much rather try freshmen and see what happens.

People who want Harbaugh gone are idiots. Michigan has won one road opener at a ranked team in its history. This was very steep odds coming in and we still had a chance to tie it at the end.

Burn the tape and move on.

People just have chill and watch this young team improve week to week. So we may have 4 or 5 losses but we will be a better team by the end of the season. I predicted a closer ND victory. I was disappointed by how poorly the D played. Thought the offense would play better. I think Kelly out coached Harbaugh. It will take Harbaugh a few more years to build a good OL.

I'm just glad that I watched the '78 Michigan vs ND game last night! After being down 7 a few times in the first Leach started making some nice down field passes without much time since ND blitzed every down. The D just harassed Montana who was much better QB than Tonight's ND QB.

Disappointing outing on many levels, so squarely on the coaches.

Really surprised that the defense looked shellshocked in Q1 despite this group being fairly experienced.  UM just isn’t talented enough to play poorly for 15-20 minutes against good teams and still win.

Like 2016, we are back to “almosts”. The “almost made the play” references happen so frequently that it boils down to a lack of playmakers or basic fortitude.  Hawkins’s failure to high point a relatively basic INT turned a very positive opportunity into a huge negative play. Those “almosts” change ballgames and they seem to happen regularly with this UM program.

Just not good enough.

Well, as a Western Michigan alum and non Michigan resident but lifelong Michigan fan, I'm not actually paying for it but doesn't make me feel any better today. I hope they appoint McElwain as coordinator, put one guy in charge and make him accountable, it's called a hierarchical structure. It's how the Romans built their empire and were able to rule for thousands of years (counting Byzantium). It works. harbaugh should look into it.

Besides the complete unadulterated ass playcalling...what’s with the lie that is 1A/1B back. Yeah Evans only had 2 for -1 but damn. That’s not a co-backfield at all. We’ll work Western and probably SMU but I’m not as confident about Nebraska as I was before with that dual threat frosh. Fuck everything right now.

I waited 8 months for that garbage. The coaching staff should be ashamed of throwing the same ole play and formation over and over again. I’m so disappointed that I am just sick. We looked lost. Ruiz does not know how to hike the damn ball quickly, we don’t know how to run a real two minute drill, the Tackles look like they have never practiced ever. What the hell am I missing? DPJ tried to rely on his athleticism way to much and cannot break free from the DB’s... I’m lost for words.

The same thing has been going through my mind since about the end of the 1st quarter - I waited 8 months for this.  I spent the past 8 months believing we'd have an OL that was no longer competing for dead last in the big ten and bottom 25 in all of division 1.

Our team is the equivalent of a Zelda boss with a giant glowing weak point - attack here (offensive tackle) to win the game.  How much money are we paying for an offensive minded head coach, a passing game coordinator and a OL coach?  When it comes to offense, we do the least with the most in all of college football.

As happened last season , PLAYCALLING , it was 2nd and 14 to go in the 4th and we run up the middle ,stupid call , of course they now have to pass on third down , so it continues , but I will say this , if we loose to MSU with poor coaching , I am done with Harbaugh

Obviously our offense needs an overhaul. It feels like our Devin gardner days offense was more reliable than what Harbaugh has had

Were way too conservative. Notre dame had winbush throwing bombs all game even though hes certainly not the best passer yet were doing short runs and passes

I’m the biggest UM fan that I know and I know Many of you would claim the same. I’m a bit shocked at the level of histrionics on the board. It’s a 1TD loss to a top 15 (maybe top 10) team.

We were slow to warm up and it cost us a game. I’m also a bit tired of the “8MM per year for this!” Rehtoric as well. All major programs pay a boatload to their coaches. They don’t all win every game. Harbaugh is doing a fantastic job building the program into something that could compete with the OSUs and Bamas. Without him, we would only be able to compete to a level of beating Sparty every 1-2 years. High risk, high reward with this coaching staff.

Malzahn was on the hot seat two years ago, now he’s golden again with Auburn fans. Watch as this season progresses. Patterson will be unbelievably amazing if he stays healthy. The Oline will improve, maybe not to elite status, but be serviceable. The playmakers on offense and defense will continue to hone their skills and begin to look elite toward mid season. The chemistry on a team with a transfer QB takes time. The Defense showed what it can do. ND got every lucky break and ref break possible last night. It happens from time to time

Mediocrity Mediocrity Mediocrity at a premium price tag. I have been a lifelong Michigan fan and I no longer believe the hype. Record speaks for itself. Michigan fan base has split into those who have a realistic view of the program and those that live a fantasy world. I choose reality and no longer defend an unwatchable product.

There was a private viewing party of the game put together for UM football legends at the Soaring Eagle Casino in Mt. Pleasant last night. Let's just say most are off the Harbaugh train and conversations got so heated that it ended up in fisticuffs.

That was the second year in a row I've been told first hand by UM football vets that they absolutely hate Harbaugh.

I expect a coaching change after the season at this point.

You're truly a know-nothing douchebag.

Tell me, why should anyone be supporting the abortion that Harbaugh fielded last night?

I anxiously await your next juvenile pot shot, lightweight.

Mark my words, Braylon will not be on BTN anymore, He got a call at Soaring Eagle last night telling him he was canned because of his tweet. So, yeah, maybe I do know a thing or two. Stan, who was there, too, was pissed at him BTW.

Braylon, always the punk, nearly got his ass kicked by Chris Floyd for mouthing off.

Feel free to return to idolizing our terrible head coach.

He hasn't had a good OC yet so I'm thinking he doesn't get it.

One thing to remember is that Warde Manuel played football at UM and Harbaugh was not his hire. I would imagine a lot of what I've been hearing from the old guard is making it to his ears.

At the end of the day, BS walks, and Harbaugh hasn't been producing. Some of his decisions, like having two O line coaches with diametrically opposed philosophies, just cannot be explained. You wouldn't find that on a Pop Warner team.

And now we don't have an OC at all? No WR coach last year? His wet behind the ears kid as RB coach?
