Which part of my post do you think is totally off base? Have you talked to anyone who decided not to renew season tickets? (Hint: I'm one of those people)
|10/11/2018 - 10:00pm||Maybe it's because people…||
Maybe it's because people are waiting to see if Michigan can win some games against decent opponents and make the Penn State game a big deal. Maybe it's because it's so much more comfortable at home with a nice TV, easy access to the bathroom and the ability to bring your own bottle of water. Maybe it's because the parking situation for this game is going to be awful. Maybe it's because beating Wisc is expected, but losing to Wisc will almost singlehandedly end Michigan's season. There is a lot of anger in the fanbase right now at a perceived lack of accomplishment for Harbaugh's 4th year that will erupt after the next loss.
There are a lot of factors decreasing demand for the tickets to this game, and not many factors making people want to go to the game.

No politics, unless it's the right politics. No GoFundMe links unless that person has the right politics. This is Michigan fergodsakes!
|10/10/2018 - 12:40am||So let me get this straight,…||
So let me get this straight, if my coworker starts choking me because they don't like how I'm doing my job, we both get fired? It's amazing that people are saying impemba was "instigating" the whole thing because they had some kind of harmless, off the air, brief dispute over a chair. Everyone with a brain in their head knows exactly what is going on here, and we're tired of it.
|09/26/2018 - 5:44pm||We're talking about student…||
We're talking about student athletes here, where the student part comes first. Paying for a revenue generating sport like football / basketball and letting other teams go unpaid is not going to fly.
|09/26/2018 - 5:29pm||I never claimed college…||
I never claimed college players receiving money was unethical. Paying a handful of players via bag men under the table is unethical. Paying all your student athletes for every sport the same or a very similar amount of money is ethical. Picking and choosing which sports get to have paid student athletes is also unethical.
So that leaves us with the situation we have today. Most schools would just stop fielding teams if required by the NCAA to pay every student athlete.

I'm at the point where I don't care what it takes to beat them. If they're cheating, we should cheat too. If they're paying players via bag men, we should pay players via bag men.
|09/23/2018 - 6:00pm||I think you're just…||
I think you're just overreacting about overreactions. I haven't seen anyone say "WOW Michigan trucked Nebraska, that means we're gonna steamroll the rest of our opponents!" It's more along the lines of "this is what we should do against lesser teams, now let's see what happens against better competition"

|09/17/2018 - 5:11pm||I haven't been to a game…||
I haven't been to a game since the Hoke years. No one hassles me about what I'm eating or drinking at home in my comfortable recliner with the AC blasting while I watch the game on my 75" TV, a phone in one hand and my laptop nearby. Absolutely no excuse to forbid me from bringing one of those big 1 liter bottles into the game. The security at the gate can examine it, subject it to chemical testing, whatever they want to do. It's just flipping water. Doesn't really matter to me any more since I don't see myself ever attending a sports event in person again. Broadcasts are already in 1080p with 4k on the way.
|09/05/2018 - 6:18am||3/10 low quality trolling,…||
3/10 low quality trolling, you can do better. "Re-hire Hoke as HC with Richrod as the OC" would have bumped it up to a 5/10.

It feels precisely like early in the 2014 season and I hate it. I'll be overjoyed to be proven wrong when we come out flying and fired up and prepared and IMPROVED for the front half of the in-conference schedule.

"Jim would you say we have an OL or an LOL?" woulda been my question.
|09/02/2018 - 9:02am||Because the defense has done…||
Because the defense has done some great things along with a few poopy things. We also trust the defensive coaches to develop the new DTs and safeties.
The offense and especially the o-line is a dumpster fire and has just recently been upgraded to a category 5 dumpster fire, and nobody trusts the offensive coaches (including Harbaugh) to develop that unit into something serviceable this year.
We're at 'wait 'til next year' stage after game 1. Alternatively they play the true freshmen on the o-line to see what they can do, which doesn't turn out very good for any other team who has tried it.
|09/02/2018 - 6:20am||The same thing has been…||
The same thing has been going through my mind since about the end of the 1st quarter - I waited 8 months for this. I spent the past 8 months believing we'd have an OL that was no longer competing for dead last in the big ten and bottom 25 in all of division 1.
Our team is the equivalent of a Zelda boss with a giant glowing weak point - attack here (offensive tackle) to win the game. How much money are we paying for an offensive minded head coach, a passing game coordinator and a OL coach? When it comes to offense, we do the least with the most in all of college football.
|09/02/2018 - 4:51am||How do you figure we'll go 8…||
How do you figure we'll go 8-4? MSU, PSU, Wisc and OSU just watched this game and said "holy moly let's victimize UM's terrible offensive line again". 7-5 is on the table here.
|09/01/2018 - 10:31pm||Hoke may as well be coaching…||
Hoke may as well be coaching this team. I really hate to say it. Harbaugh isn't on the hot seat but he has definitely lost his luster. Four years of not being prepared for any opponent with a pulse. Four years of doing the least with the most anywhere in college football.

|08/16/2018 - 4:09pm||My best advice for the z…||
My best advice for the z file system is to use 2^n + P disks where P is the level of parity raid. For example, a raidz2 array could have 6 disks (4+2), 10 disks (8+2) or maybe even 18 disks (16+2).
Also touching on what karpodiem said earlier - zfs on linux runs fairly well, I've been using it on an 18.04 system (not vanilla ubuntu) for a while with some cheap Dell SAS HBAs. Running ZFS on linux lets you run your other software on the same box, no VMs or additional physical servers needed.
EDIT: the version of zfs on *buntu repos is 0.7.5. If you want the latest version, you'll have to install from a third party repo or from source. Changelogs are at https://zfsonlinux.org/ if you want to see if any of the fixes apply to your use cases.

|11/27/2016 - 1:23pm||You're right, but I think it||
You're right, but I think it would be a reasonable rule that you have to finish either #1 or #2 in your conference to be eligible for a playoff spot. For the conferences with championship games, this means you'd have to at least make it to the conference championship game to be eligible.
What's the point in conference championship games if the committee can choose the #3 (or lower) team in the conference?
|11/27/2016 - 1:10pm||Just a gut feeling, but the||
Just a gut feeling, but the playoff committee will take the 4 conference champions and snub the Big 12 and G5.
Penn State / Wisconsin in the playoff will continue the streak of B1G teams scoring 0 points in playoff games.
|11/27/2016 - 12:40pm||If you told me 24 months ago||
That #3 Michigan was going to lose @ #2 OSU because a ref gave OSU a first down they did not legitimately acquire in 2OT, I wouldn't be any less angry.

I'll take Harbaugh laying into legitimate officiating malfeasance every time over Hoke's “We fed the kids a little bit. They ate some stuff that's good for them to eat so that they can go out and play." nonsense.
|11/27/2016 - 8:08am||Fuck em||
I'm in the camp that believes Michigan has to do whatever it takes to get this addressed.
Threaten to leave the B1G, boycot a bowl and make the NCAA lose millions in revenue, whatever it takes.
OSU absolutely did not win that game yesterday, the outcome was flipped by the officials.

That's absolutely true. Not every team can be Alabama, and hell even Alabama loses a game every once in a while.
How about we give Harbaugh a shot at knokcing off Indiana and Ohio State?
|11/13/2016 - 12:04am||I'm not criticizing you, but||
I'm not criticizing you, but who would you suggest for head coach? Brady Hoke would have lost this game by 28 points. Lloyd Carr at his prime would have probably lost this game by 7.
|11/12/2016 - 11:59pm||On to Indiana||
Poor blocking, not protecting the ball, a couple deep balls that were just off-target, running silly pitch plays and Peppers wildcat plays when a lot of downs called for hammering through 4 YPC on the ground. Recipe for a loss on the road at Iowa in a night game no matter what kind of talent mismatch exists.
|11/12/2016 - 2:06pm||Confused||
I'm confused about why I'm seeing pictures of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton on main page content from a college sports blog with a 'no politics' rule.
Also, do you think Ferentz has a punting fetish?
|11/06/2016 - 8:32pm||So who||
actually hates Jim Harbaugh?
We hate coaches for things like putting injured players back in the game, for saying they "don't believe in (some types) of injuries", for covering up serious scandals, for saying douchey things to the media and also for general off-the-field misconduct.
As far as I can tell, Jim Harbaugh is guilty of throwing his hat around sometimes and yelling at a ref for a few seconds. No one hates him. They hate how competitive he is and how hard his teams try to win every game (often with a lot of success).
Apparently he didn't get along with the 49ers ownership / front office for some reason, and that team cratered as soon as Harbaugh was gone, which kind of speaks to the whole 'Jim Harbaugh will wear out his welcome' BS. I'll always take a coach who yells at a ref for 5 seconds, gives passive aggressive answers to the media and also wins games without any wrongdoing and without any scandals.

I've only ever seen a personal foul called on this when the punter gets tackled or bumped.
A couple OSU players ran into their own kicker. The Michigan player took evasive action and very slightly grazed the punter.
I'm just in shock that anyone could think that deserved a personal foul to give OSU the first down.
|11/29/2015 - 1:11pm||Roughing the kicker call||
It felt like everything swung to OSU's side when the refs called that personal foul. I was sitting there with my mouth open, wondering how anyone could think that was a reasonable call.
Does ANYONE think that call was reasonable?
