Where do you sit in the Big House and why?
Happy Friday everyone. I am curious where you sit when you go to games at the Big House and why?
I have not been to a ton of games because I can’t afford it, but the times I have went I have sat near the flagpole area (south end zone) and I like it.
50 yard line on tunnel side the crowd seems lethargic and boring. I would love to get season tix someday or just when I’m going for an individual game I’d like to try different seating.
What do you guys think? Enjoy your day.
Obligatory upvote/dvote.
Stop with the upvote/downvote ya dbag.
I sit right on the 50 yard line on the tunnel side high up. We are not at all lethargic or boring. Actually I always kinda wish the guy in front of us doesn’t show up because he jumps up, does a little dance, and screams for every first down. It gets very annoying by midway through the 2nd quarter.
Lol... yeah I’m sure not everyone is, but I always laugh when the wave is going on and there’s like 20 people that participate in that area.
I notice that it's like that at most sporting events, the middle always kills the wave.
May I recommend more alcohol before the game?
I'm dead center in the South endzone about halfway up. Why, because I'm a first year season ticket holder and those were the best seats I could get. That being said, I like being in the endzone as it makes it easier to watch line play.
I’m with you, Bo, except I’ve been in the middle of the South Endzone for over 40 years. Nothing wrong with the longitudinal view of the field for seeing the line blocking, passing game, and special teams blocking.
That's where my tickets are too. I'm the third generation in my family to own them and wouldn't trade them for anywhere else. I'm right on the aisle, halfway up the bowl, and have a perfect view of every play as it develops.
Upvoted because "watching line play" is EXACTLY what Bo would do.
I don't sit. I stand!!
Obviously, for as connected as you say you are. They don't have seats on the sidelines which is where, we can all only assume, you are for all the games.
Assumption is the mother if all fuck ups..
;)

Way up in the nosebleeds because I am poor
That actually has no impact on season ticket pricing. It's all based on section, which kind of drives me crazy. We are out on a corner because its row 40 there vs row 98 on the 40 for an extra $350 PSD per ticket. Idk why anyone willingly pays the same PSD to sit in row 98 as the people sitting in row 10.
Michigan Stadium doesn’t really have nose bleed seats. That is a benefit of not having awful decks like shitty Ohio Stadium and the like.
I'll take a nosebleed over a high-row seat with a poor sight line (that can easily be obscured by big 'n tall types).
Wherever I can get a damn seat. Ive been in the back of the end zone, the corjers, the student section, the visitor section, even had pregame field passes for Rutgers 2015. I've never been between the 30 yard lines before though
Same as well. Just get me in the building and I am happy. I did somehow get lucky and get something like 5th row for OSU just to watch the dropped interception, and with it the game, slip thru our fingers.
ugh
why do these weeks drag all of a sudden?
Because now you know it's within reach. Once fall camp starts, it'll be easier. I promise
That isn’t what I was getting at, but thanks anyway.
I sit in the south end zone because that’s where my tickets tell me to sit.
I have been fortunate enough to have season tickets for a few years now and my seats have run the gamut. After sitting high and low, Michigan side and visitor's side, end zone and sideline, I have definitely found my preference.
1. I like sitting closer to the field. High up is great because you can see the whole field, but closer to the field I can feel the energy of the game much more, if that makes sense.
2. I like sitting on the Michigan side. I like seeing our players on the sideline, I prefer the shade (for the 3:30 games--for the noon games it's sunny on both side) and I like having the band play to me.
3. I like the sideline better than the end zone. I agree with what end zone people say about line play from the end zones, but I don't like how far away you are from the other end of the field.
One good thing about my seats the first couple of years was that they were much cheaper. I can't really afford my current tix so I have to sell some of them to make the budget work.
The bottom line is that there are pluses and minuses to every spot. The worst seat in the Big House is still a great seat!
Southwest corner, 65 rows up. Why? Because it is the cheapest PSD.
Section 17, row 50s. Sun at my back. End zone prices. B-BAMM!!!!
I currently sit in section 17, row 57 - southwest corner. I like the seats, they are up from the field a bit, but I can see the whole field and I'm still close enough to the field where I can feel the energy from the game. I used to sit in section 21, row 15 - it was really close, on the 35 yard line, but then they implemented the license fee for certain seats and they suddenly became very expensive. I've also sat in the suites and club level for a game each, and really didn't like them. Sure, you could get crab cakes and a brisket sandwich (which was pretty good), but you feel completely detached from the game, and you might as well be watching it on TV.
North Endzone. As others have said, I like the view of the game from there.
I thought you said "Where do you shit in the Big House and why?" I need some caffine...
If it ever comes to that, I'd recommend the bathrooms down the stairs behind sections 22 and 23. For some reason, there are always lines way out of the door for the surface level bathrooms while I've never seen less than 15 available urinals and stalls in the one down the stairs.
Well thanks a lot, Kilgore. The downstairs bathrooms were the hidden gems at Michigan Stadium but now you've let the cat out of the bag. Now I'll probably have to wait in line.
To answer the OP, i sit in section 22, row 30 and LOVE my seats. It took me many years of moving up a section at a time. I love them because after decades I finally get to hear the band. That's important to me since I was a MMB member back in the day. Also, I never have to stare into the sun.
Had seats in Section 8, Row 70 for thirty years before giving them up in 2005. The field view was excellent, but more importantly, the people sitting around us were the best: game commentary, the sharing of alcohol and snacks, and watching kids grow up from pre-school to their college graduation. Still miss the experience.
I sit in section 34. Dead center of the field in the north endzone. I love my seats and never plan on moving.
Section 34, Row B, seats 1&2. We've had these seats for 24 years now I can't tell you how many great plays I've seen from my vantage point.
I'll never forget the Tyrone Wheatley Superman Pose after his second TD in the 3rd quarter of the Penn State game back in 1994. I think that was the first College GameDay appearance as well and I remember they were setup right on Stadium Between the Big House and Crisler Arena and we just walked right by them as they were doing the broadcast.
Great memories for sure!
I hope to make some more this year as well!
I'm sure there are "better" seats, but my favorite spot was my tickets for senior year, sat four or five rows behind the band on the ten yard line. Just a personal preference for me, but I love being around the band. That's just the essence of a college game, and the closer you can sit to them, the better.
Also helps that where they sit is about as far away from the visiting sections as it gets.
I remember when I went to the Outback Bowl in '13. I sat on the opposite side of the field from where the band was located, and literally couldn't hear anything they tried playing. Just all of what SC's band played. Just really lessened the experience for me. And the loss....that sucked too.
Section 9 Row 12. Because that’s were the Ticket office assigned me, and I better like it?
Been fortunate, section 6 row 21. Been in my family for over 40 years
My season tickets are section 17 (seats 1&2, so next to sec. 18), 69 rows up. I’m sure there are better views (plays along the M sideline near the north end zone are obscured by the players on the sideline), but even given the option to relocate to the sideline, I wouldn’t. I have made friends with the people who sit around us, and will always remember Roundtree’s catch in UTL right in front of me.
I sit wherever I can afford a ticket honestly lol.
If money were no object, then I'd sit on the 50 yard line, about 1/3 of the way up the stands from field level, right behind the Michigan bench. High enough up to see everything yet not so high up that you're far away.
I'm in Section 1, Row 44....between the 45 and 50 yard line that the OP thought he'd find so boring. It isn't and you can actually see well. Nice mix between low enough so the players look like players and high enough to see play development.
Section 21, row 15. I looked to move higher but not because I don't like the seats. I have had issues with my knees the last few years and the stairs have become an issue for me.
I will get tickets close to the student section (Sec 24 or 33), and sneak on over. I am not a fan of sitting crammed next to people.
Section 409, Row 2, Seats 5 & 6.
I sit here because it is as far away as I can get from the field. I'm legally blind with only 5 degrees central vision remaining in both eyes and my peripheral vision is all gone. I probably have 5-10 years left before I won't be able to see the games at all. My wife grumbles at the PSD, but I want to enjoy the games while I still can. It also works well because people rarely stand up at all. It takes me a whole lot of focus to keep up with the game action and when someone blocks my view for a second, I lose track of where the play is. I don't like ruining someone else's enjoyment of the game by telling them how they should react - they bought their ticket and it is their right - so this is much more enjoyable for me as well.
Good for you, Will!!!
Go Blue!
"I don't like ruining someone else's enjoyment of the game by telling them how they should react - they bought their ticket and it is their right - so this is much more enjoyable for me as well."
So refreshing to hear someone take this approach. Hope you get to enjoy many more years!
Moved this year (was section 12, row 20) which was solid view but awful in/out to section 40, row 70) my tailgate is North end and I tend to park downtown. Curiously, guy immediately across the aisle from our seats pays 2x per seat, basically. Michigan football pricing is weird.
I was in section 12, row 27 for years. I also enjoyed the view but moved this year for the same reason. Now section 15 for 55ish (can't remember exactly) near aisle..
NE side of the field. Not necessarily nosebleed seats but close to it. I can appreciate it because it’s not so far up that you feel removed from the crowd experience but you can also see the game. Also, can’t afford 50 yard line seats. Lol
