Where do you sit in the Big House and why?

Submitted by MichiganFan1984 on

Happy Friday everyone. I am curious where you sit when you go to games at the Big House and why?

I have not been to a ton of games because I can’t afford it, but the times I have went I have sat near the flagpole area (south end zone) and I like it.

50 yard line on tunnel side the crowd seems lethargic and boring. I would love to get season tix someday or just when I’m going for an individual game I’d like to try different seating.

What do you guys think? Enjoy your day.

We're in section 19 in the 50s.  Been here since they kicked us out of our section 31 seats (row 80 - SO ridiculously easy to get to them) which I miss to this day but will never be able to get back.

That said, the 19 isn't too bad but we do have our fair share of the W&C crowd there, mainly in the 20s-40s.  I'd consider a move but prices are high enough as is and not really looking to go to the end zone.  Been there when we'd bought single-game tix in addition and missed having the sideline view.  Sat across from where the band is now for the '05 PSU game, that was a pretty fun section.

Section 8, Row 30something. Southeast corner. Pros...on the aisle...can see the whole field, or video board if I need to... restroom right at the top of the stairs.  Con(s)...complete opposite end of the MMB.

Section 42, about 75 rows up. I have tickets with a few of my friends, and we've slowly moved more towards the center as everyone agrees to pay more over the years. For now, the Maize PSD is acceptable.

Seats are good - relatively good view on the North endzone, but obviously not as good view on the South. We do get heavy sun in the early summer though. Bring sunglasses!

I sit wherever I can find the best priced tickets on stubhub. I only make it back for maybe a game or two a year since I live in Oklahoma.

We're about to begin our 39th season in the same seats and 42nd year overall of season tickets.  And though I guess that means I'm getting old,  I'm as anxious as ever to get in the gates for the home opener.

Our original season tickets were in section 7, SE corner, 3 rows from the top back in 1977, had some friends with 4 tickets in the same section but 20 rows lower who added an additional 4 seats to their own order for us and that's where we ended up.  Though we were fine with those seats, it sure gets bitter cold for November games when a north wind blows!

Due to a mixup when they moved and their ticket renewal forms got lost (meaning they lost their seats and ours), we had to get on the waiting list.  No problem---a friend of ours (who was then a senior at U of M) found us 3 seats together in the student section for the entire 1979 season, just 30 or so rows up, just above where the MMB now sits (back then, the MMB was on the eastern sideline facing the student section).  Great seats!

By the following season we made it through the waiting list and were offered seats in section 36. By then we needed a 4th seat, so we ended up with aisle seats in row 79, right at the top of the the entry ramp for 36.  Been there ever since, added a few more seats to our order along the way, and made friends with all the regulars in adjoining seats over the nearly 4 decades in our section.  Seat turnover in our immediate area rarely happens, most of the fellow fans in our area have been there 10-20 or more seasons.

We now have 6 seats together in rows 78 and 79, plus an additional seat near ours in row 78 that we spotted and added when individual seats were being offered after season ticket orders were fulfilled.  (We tried to add a couple more to our season ticket order this year but we're denied due to a change in policy that stipulates that new orders on the waiting list get priority over existing orders who want to max out at 8 seats, which is the max allowed per order according to ticket office policy).

But in addition to the seats we control, a great friend of ours has had his season seats since about 1985 in row 77 also on the aisle adjoining our seats; he bumped up his order from 2 seats to 4 seats about 4 years ago. (Not to mention he has tailgated with us for 20-25 years or so.)  So effectively, we now have 10-11 seats together per game for our bunch, and it gets bigger and better:  we often buy an additional 2-4 seats from another "lifer" directly behind us in row 80 because he has a few games each season that he and his group can't use all of their seats. Since he's been there well over a decade behind us, he now gives us first dibs on his extras.

Many years ago we considered an upgrade and decided against it.  Why move??!  We're among great friends/fans in our section, our ushers (Dave has been at the section 36 entrance since the early 80s and Burt for at least 25 seasons) are like family, with aisle seats we have easy in/out access to concessions and restrooms (if I time it right during a TV time out I'm often back to my seat without missing any plays).  WHO HAS IT BETTER THAN US??!!

Oh, forgot to mention:. sightlines are great, as we're alligned almost directly with the eastern sideline and can see EVERY play.  Like others have said, the advantage of endzone seats higher up is that it's great for watching line play and overall play development.  With my set of binoculars always handy for plays in the south 'red zone', plus the video boards above, I get a good look at each and every play!

Weather is seldom a problem, either.  Being about 20 rows from the top, the cold north wind is at our back and almost completely blocked.  Can't do anything about the rain/sleet/snow other than to dress for the precipitation, but that wind block is soooo much better than bearing the brunt of the wind in the SE corner like we did with our original seats near the top of section 7.

SW corner, halfway up, because that is where they put me (after I sat on 45, halfway up, on west side for years due to a connection).  Thanks Dave for killing that.  FWIW, I would always choose to sit on the west side because of the sun.

when my dad had his season tickets we sat in section 6 row 65 seats 29 and 30.

now on game days i'm up on the 5th floor of the east tower catching as much of the games as i can from one of the 3 or 4 suites i am serving that day... trick is to have one of the suite TV's turned to the live feed from the field...

Section 14 right on top of the tunnel. Great sight lines and nobody sitting in front of me. Easy to get in and out of the stadium.

My initial response when I sat down in the seats for the very first time was that I hated them. But now I don't think I will ever switch seats as long as I keep my tickets.

My family and I have been incredibly blessed in being gifted 2 Section 23s many years back.

For a long time my other two were section 20 but I was finally able to bump them up to 21 this year! Can’t wait to see them.

For the last 7 seasons I have sat at the top row in either section 25 or 26 almost every game.  I have preferred the top row since becoming a father but one time when my oldest child was in middle school I let him bring a couple friends to the game. Since we had 2 sets of 2 seats we looked for somewhere we could all sit together . Ever since we half always went to the same area. I have friends that sir all over the stadium but many of them will come sit with us for the second half if the students never fill all the way in! (Hint, even when the stadium is filled  completely the students scrunch in, in the lower rows)

North endzone  80 rows up on the aisle.

I love being on the aisle.  I would move to the same seats in the South endzone to be closer to parking, but that's my only complaint.
