Nice Necessary Roughness reference.

09/14/2018 - 12:40pm I've been at parties shut…

I've been at parties shut down by police in AA, EL, and other cities.  Never once was a noise violation immediately written before a warning was given.  Never once was the property owner arrested.  The cops said turn the music down and tell people who aren't sleeping here to walk, not drive, home.  In every case, those underage weren't given MIPs unless they gave the cops trouble.  There have been a ton of troubling stories out of EL lately, many of which speak negatively of the police department.  Nothing to see here.

08/15/2018 - 2:05pm We've seen Harbaugh's…

We've seen Harbaugh's offenses shift to be take advantage of the personnel that he has.  A Harbaugh offense will always be based on staple inside run plays with play action off of those plays.  The beauty of the personnel that he has this year is that he can run all those run plays out of base set (I think 12 personnel will be our most frequently used personnel package) and, without changing personnel at all, split out Gentry, McKeon, Evans, etc. to try to create mismatches on linebackers.  The key to the offense is going to be the ability to keep the QB upright long enough to exploit the opportunities created when the defense overplays our base plays/packages and having the QB actually hit the open receivers when that happens.

07/20/2018 - 7:34am I'm dead center in the South…

I'm dead center in the South endzone about halfway up.  Why, because I'm a first year season ticket holder and those were the best seats I could get.  That being said, I like being in the endzone as it makes it easier to watch line play.

If you think that is Maize you must either be colorblind or work for Adidas.

07/13/2018 - 8:20am I did an Nth best analysis…

I did an Nth best analysis before last year and Michigan had even a little more talent on its roster last year than Clemson did the year they won the NC.  I'd show you my plots, but I can't figure out how to do it on the new site.

According to 247, the top two commits in the B1G are committed to Wisconsin and Purdue.

That worked, I'm now a 3 star!  Thanks!  I started a reddit account just for this so all of my karma is r/cfb.

Anyone else not have their sub karma update?  I'm now over 500 karma, but the risk game still has me in the 300s.  I want that third star!

As someone who has bitched about Delaney adding Rutgers to the conference, the link told me to Defend Rutgers, and I just couldn't do it.

They took away flair from comments, so how do I know who to upvote to get karma for the cause?

05/30/2018 - 3:41pm Thanks

Thanks for clarifying.  I need to get some discussion points then, I guess.  That seems easier than getting an award and quicker than gaining days on r/CFB.

05/30/2018 - 3:15pm Star Ranking

How does star ranking work?  I thought it was an average of the 5 categories.  In the 5 categories, I have 10 total stars, but I'm a 1 star and not a 2 star.  Can someone explain this?

05/30/2018 - 2:48pm Upvote

I upvoted everyone with Michigan flair and suggest we all do the same.

05/29/2018 - 1:01pm At least one

I can tell you with absolute certainty at least one because I did.  I only noticed it was new because the number of comments was a smaller number.

04/25/2018 - 3:05pm First year season ticket holder

I assume I'll get whatever the rest of you don't pick up in the endzone somewhere.  I'm just glad I got tickets for this year, as I assume demand will be much higher next year and I wasn't sure if I'd have enough points.

03/29/2018 - 1:39pm Maverick Morgan

I feel like 5 years from now we'll still be talking about Maverick Morgan in the context of a player getting much better mid season.  I also predict that at some point I will have completley forgotten who Maverick Morgan was and will have to google who/what Maverick Morgan is.   I have already forgotten what team he played for and it happend like 13.5 months ago.

02/21/2018 - 8:25am Perd Hapley

For some reason I read that in Perd Hapley's voice and it made it even funnier.

02/02/2018 - 12:22pm I understand

I understand what you're saying and assure you the irony isn't lost on me.  I intentionally avoided any reference to Nassar potentially getting sexually assaulted in his upcoming prison sentence for this exact reason.  Looking at it from the perspective of the prison guard (as I mentioned previously, I know one personally), if you know that a group of inmates are going to gang up on another inmate, how much risk are you willing to take on to protect that other inmate when you know the incomprehensibly bad things that inmate has done?  Would you risk your physical well being to prevent a known child molestor from suffering an assault from his fellow inmates, even if you disagreed with their vigilante justice?  These questions are rhetorical, but I don't think anything I mentioned speaks poorly of our society, but I'll acknowledge that that's just like, my opinion, man.

02/02/2018 - 9:59am My 2nd cousin is a prison guard

My 2nd cousin is a prison guard in a high security prison, and while you are correct that that's what *should* happen, the guards and the inmates know exactly why everyone is in there.  I can tell you that almost all of the guards turn a blind eye to what they consider to be adequate justice.  There's a lot of truth to the saying, "there's honor even among thieves."

I can guarantee you that wherever Nassar ends up, every inmate and guard in that prison will know exactly what he did.  Given how high profile that case was, he may even remain protected for a while, but I wouldn't expect that to last.  I'd guarantee someone will end up giving him the beating (and likely much worse) that this man would have given him.

01/30/2018 - 7:58am High School

My team almost played him my Junior year.  They lost to Lumen Christi the week before we did.  The first time I saw him on film (he rarely played offense), was to punt.  In case you were wondering, he has a boot.  My DC said something like, "that's a big damn punter!" and my head coach said completely stone faced, "Yeah, that kid's good.  He makes over 30 tackles in this game and is going to Michigan."  I followed his career closesly after that.

Obligatory: Cool story, bro!

No, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

01/09/2018 - 12:27pm Best wishes

When Seth did the last basketball recap instead of Ace, I feared his health has taken a negative turn once again.  As someone who has a sister fighting cancer, I know how much of a strain that can put on one's entire family.  I wish you and your family the best going forward.  Michigan sports are simply a game we play/watch as a distraction from reality and are trivial and insignifcant in comparison to the health and well being of those we love.  Stay strong, love your family, and fight like Hell.  We'll be here waiting patiently (well, almost patiently) for your return.

01/05/2018 - 3:25pm Upvoted

I upvoted you for not ripping me for offering a contrarian view and backing up your initial statement with evidence.  That's how this board should operate.

It was always a longshot and I would assume the hiring of Enos would preclude us from pursuing Canada.  That being said, there aren't many places that have the cupboard stocked with players that fit the personnel he wants to run, so if he does leave LSU, I'd be curious to see where he goes.  If get gets a buyout from LSU, his new destination wouldn't have to match his salary, which would limit the schools interested even more.  He has to be close to being offered a chance to coach a G5 team as a HC if that's his goal.  Not many take the John Chavis/Bud Foster route and stay a coordinator until retirement.

01/05/2018 - 2:05pm I mostly agree

I mostly agree, but man would a Matt Canada/Harbaugh offense be fun.  We have the personnel to run it.  Canada's offense has an identity (power run), but utilizes a ton of misdirection, counters, and screens to keep defenses off balance in a way that makes sense in the overall scheme.

Is there actual evidence of him "falling out" with anyone other than Orgeron?  Maybe he left Wisconsin because he wanted to work with Doeren.  Maybe he got a pay raise to go to Pitt.  He definitely got a pay raise to go to LSU.  He "only" made 560k/year at NC State; I couldn't find his salary at Pitt, but I found that an article that said LSU doubled his salary, which would've had him make 750k at Pitt...maybe he left for more money.  Unless there's more evidence of "falling out", I don't think it's any more likely than he just went elsewhere for more money or better/different opportunities.

01/04/2018 - 12:28pm Official?

Is that officially happening?  I read a bunch of rumors, but nothing that seemed definitive.  With the style of offense he runs, most schools don't have the personel to run it.  I just really don't want to get my hopes up.

01/04/2018 - 12:18pm Matt Canada

Does this mean they won't have enough money to keep Matt Canada around? /s...I know a team that is likely in the market for an OC.  I know it's wishful thinking, but his offense at Pitt was awesome to watch and utilized the same personel we have on the roster already.

12/18/2017 - 1:53pm TVC East

As an alumnus of a school that played Garber growing up every year in the TVC East, I've never seen a highlight tape of anyone purely dominate our conference quite like he did.  He made my alma matter look BAD a few times in that video and it gave me really mixed feelings.  I'm glad he'll be suting up for the good guys in the future.

12/06/2017 - 1:03pm nth best recruit player analysis

I did an analysis that looked at the overall composite ranking of each player from the 4 previous classes.  No one (even Urban Meyer at OSU) is recruiting at Bama's level, but Clemson proved last year that you don't need to.  You need to have a roster full of talented players and it very much helps to have a great QB, but you don't need 5 stars at every position.  They were good enough at all other positions that having Deshaun Watson was enough for them to beat Bama.  Michigan is trying to follow a similar model.  By my analysis, Michigan this year was every bit as talented as Clemson was last year when the won the whole damn thing, albeit substantially younger.  If Brandon Peters (or Shea Patterson) can provide an upgrade at that position, we're closer to theoretically being able to compete with OSU and Bama athletically than some would have you believe.

11/28/2017 - 10:57am Grammar Nazi!

I would be much more likely to take your opinion seriously if you knew the difference between "of" and "have"; just saying.

11/27/2017 - 5:05pm BEEF Package

We've already seen a package with 3 fullbacks on the field at once.  8 blocky/catchy types saw the field this year.  Both non-Mason fullbacks graduate and Bunting may get a firm handshake.  At worst, we're replacing what we lost in that department.  There are criticisms that could be made of this class (lack of highly ranked offensive skill player, no real edge rusher, etc.), but too many blocky/catchy types in Harbaugh offense doesn't seem like a good one.

09/21/2017 - 12:45pm Cats - Hummus

Pardon my ignorance, but can someone explain to me the origin of the hummus made/not made out of cats trope?  I've heard it a bunch and feel like I missed the joke.  Please and thank you.

07/25/2017 - 12:54pm A few thoughts:

1.  ND would love to have a floor of 9 wins.

2.  Assuming the combination of Harbaugh and Brown won't have our offense and defense ready to go by OSU is foolish.  Yes, we'll be incredibly young this year, but by that point that team will have played a Florida team on a neutral field and have faced road tests in Happy Valley and Camp Randal.  Is it likely that we'll lose at least one of those?  Yes, it is, but those are the games that young players grow from.  I don't expect the first and second year players we'll be relying on this year to be playing like first and second year players by the time OSU comes to town.

3.  Even with our young players, we'd still be favored to beat ND this year, or any year in the foreseeable future.  I can't wait to whoop them again!

07/17/2017 - 9:26am Nymeria

Nymeria is Arya's direwolf.  She made it run away to avoid being killed by the Lannisters after it bit Joffrey.  In the books, Nymeria is mentioned, but there's been no mention of her in the show.  Other than Ghost, Nymeria is the only direwolf left that could be alive.

06/21/2017 - 10:13am Their

I see they're grammar has rubbed off on you. =p

06/21/2017 - 7:45am Separate Things

Taking him has nothing to do with the number of recruits we can take in the next class.  He'd be out of elgibility before any upcoming recruits step on campus.

06/15/2017 - 3:50pm Thanks

I specifically asked, so you get an upvote.  Freep link or no.

Source? Link?

I believe you, I just don't see it on the website and I assume this would be front page news.

06/13/2017 - 3:33pm Little Brother

His name literally translates to little brother.

06/05/2017 - 1:53pm Brother's Dog

My brother had an Akita that would only sleep at the foot of the crib when he brought his baby home.  They finally just moved its' bed to into the crib room because the dog would only sleep there.  It immediately viewed the baby as a part of the family and guarded the crib without being told to.
Not all dogs will do that, but most dogs are smart enough to recognize a new baby as a part of the family and will adjust.

05/30/2017 - 3:46pm FOIA?

Pardon my ignorance, but what is FOIA?  The google machine brought up a bunch of stuff on the Freedom of Information Act, which didn't seem quite correct contextually.

05/09/2017 - 11:24am Venables

He's used to playing in Brent Venables' defense which blitzes quite a bit and asks DBs to play a bunch of man coverage.  If nothing else, he provides a veteran presence and another body to compete for a spot.

04/04/2017 - 8:51am Owen Marecic

Owen Marecic was a linebacker/fullback that played under Harbaugh.  Expecting that level of production from a walk on is unlikely, but we've seen what guys like Kovacs and Glasgows could do when given the opportunity.

03/10/2017 - 3:18pm Toughness

We showed rare toughness today.  There was a stretch in the second half where we had 3 tough calls go against us in a row.  I'm certain that this team would've imploded earlier in the season.  They battled through a got a hard fought W.  Go Blue!

02/07/2017 - 2:24pm Fixed it

If he played for MSU...he would've defiled math since high school.

12/01/2016 - 12:49pm Jordan Anthony

Did I miss something about Jordan Anthony?  I though Michigan led for him and he was likely still a take at linebacker.

I ask myself this all the time...

11/28/2016 - 2:44pm Pitt OC

Pitt's OC certainly deserves to be in the conversation.  He orchestrated a pretty high powered offense that carried that team, which is somewhat surprising considering who their HC is.
