Had Michigan won that may have gone down as the best performance in the rivalry's history (modern era-post Tom Harmon). I also think that he just took a huge step foward for next year.

fought all year. Now rest, and heal... he deserves it

Not to mention a warrior on the gridiron.
Devin, you deserve all the praise that is given to you. I wish, for both our sakes, that your effort had been rewarded today but alas it was not.
Forever and always,
Go Blue!

Showed the poise that he has been missing. Between him and our OL showing up I have hope for the future.

It is so obvious he is extremely beat up. He gave everything today and has all season. Much respect to DG

I personally don't see how anyone can question the heart of Devin Gardner - he went out there hurt and was still producing at a remarkable level. The final line is 451 yards of passing, 32 of 47 or 68.1% completion ratio, 14.09 yards per completion and 9.60 yards per attempt. Through the air, it was good for 4 TDs and 1 INT that really doesn't count (as it came on the 2-point conv. attempt - not officially an INT) . He came to play and he played incredibly well.
November 30th, 2013 at 4:12 PM ^
32/45, 71% completions, no picks, one completely unbelievable horseshit fumble call that is on the replay official, not Gardner.
November 30th, 2013 at 4:16 PM ^
Was technically an interception.
November 30th, 2013 at 4:25 PM ^
You don't count that on the stat sheet, anyway. Check out the box scores.
November 30th, 2013 at 4:28 PM ^
But you should probably send a letter to the athletic department. This is the official quote from the Athletic Department's article.
"The Wolverines went for the 2-point conversion, but Gardner's pass to Dileo was intercepted. Michigan tried an onside kick, which was recovered by the Buckeyes. OSU kneeled on the ball as time expired."

I think Ace has a great still of his knee clearly being down, which is what every other angle that I have seen shows - there were a few good angles on this really. Yeah, that was a rather terrible call.
November 30th, 2013 at 4:54 PM ^
Hang on to the ball. Never leave it up to the zebras.
Great game by Devin though.

I have been sickened by some of the comments folks have made about Gardner this year. He's got major flaws but much of his failure has not been his fault. The kid is a warrior, a high character guy and exactly what I want in a Michigan player. I hope some of those trashing him will eat humble pie, or if they don't like the taste, have it forcibly inserted into the opposite orifice.
November 30th, 2013 at 4:10 PM ^
Devin was Notre-Dame Devin today. I don't where he was all season, but man, when that kid in on, he's on.
November 30th, 2013 at 4:23 PM ^
I can tell you. He was under the pile of meat of a deconstructed O-line that actually showed up at least in fits and starts today. I'll take him as my QB any day behind a good line.

Thank you, Devin. I have no complaints at all on how you played. The one play that would have taken then game didn't happen, but nobody here was even giving you a chance of being in that position.
The second best passing game in Michigan history, with a hobbled quarterback, against an undefeated #3 ranked team. Shame on anyone who criticizes DG.
Yes, it was more heartbreaking to watch than the blowout most were predicting, but I saw four quarters of michigan football, i saw an offense and quarterback that have been battered all season step up and show that they are relavent. I saw a team that shows that with OL growth, this quarterback is among the ELITE in college football.
(I also saw him robbed by the refs on a fumble call)
Thank you, get ready for that bowl game and kick some ass. I hate saying "next year," but you and your team all showed today that you have what it takes to play against anyone. Now let's see some maturity and a great season next year.

It's easy to praise the players on elite teams that just plow opponents. The true heroes are the kids that bust their ass and stay true and loyal in the face of a ton of adversity. DG is a true hero, just as every player has been who has played for this program the last 6 years when it has faced its greatest adversity.
November 30th, 2013 at 4:24 PM ^
Toughest guy on the field today no question. The offense as a unit played their hearts out today. Tough ending, but they left it all out on the field.

Proud of DG. Played a near perfect game. Stepped up in the pocket a couple of times even today. Saw him go through progressions a couple times as well. Only complaint is that he didn't go through progressions on the 2 pt conversion, I know it was designed for Dileo but he has to see he's not open. And I'm still not mad about that because he was great today. Anyone saying move hm back to receiver is dumb. When he has time he is a complete Quarterback. And everyone complaining about burning Shane's redshirt you realize he can redshirt anytime right??? He can redshirt next year and still be a 3rd year sophomore like he would be if he redshirted this year. Bellomy can back up next year.

Can't say enough about what a great Wolverine he's been, really throughout his entire Michigan career. Think about all he's given, from waiting for Denard to graduate to changing his position to WR to tolerating all the vitriol from the fan base when he wasn't performing to having the game of his life when he needed to most.

I loved the way he was all over Kalis and Funchess for making mistakes on the fourth down play in the second half. That kind of vocal leadership/accountability didn't seem to be there all year. I think the biggest thing working against DG is his psychology--maybe he's turned the corner as a leader.
November 30th, 2013 at 6:03 PM ^
We saw his great skill, and his drawbacks - too willing to take a sack and never throw it away; forcing pass into coverage; throwing behind people.
But each time he rebounded. What really stood out to me was his unwillingness to accept mistakes. When he got in Kalis' grill and screamed at Funchess for not turning around to the ball in the first half, he was making a huge statement to the team about leadership and accountability.
Amazed at his performance today. His tuck and run, deking out Roby for the first down in the 4th was absolutely amazing, considering he was minus a leg.

He had a hell of a game. I hope this helps propel him to be a great QB for us next season. He has the skills now he must get more consistent in the passing game, throw the ball away before he gets sacked for 15 yards and take care of that ball, no fumbles or INTs.
