Yeah if bad things happen to our rivals and good things happen to us, we could be in a good situation.

There is nothing more annoying than people being snarky just to show off how snarky they can be
April 10th, 2013 at 10:42 AM ^
Well, it certainly won't be a bad thing for Michigan
April 10th, 2013 at 10:44 AM ^
Why's he wasting his time on basketball? With a fivehead, the height, and an ugly mug like that, he could be the next Peter Crouch.

I didn't know soccer is popular in the 60-death demographic. Oh wait, you aren't really old. I always forget.
since you find it necessary to repeatedly point out that Herm is not exactly who he pretends to be. Heck, you now make this point in every single post, given your tagline. I think it's time to close up shop on your detective work -- your mission is accomplished, and you may consider it common knowledge that Herm is a parody and not an actual curmudgeon.
Herm isn't real?
Next thing you'll tell me we don't have Alabama fans who know all about Michigan recruiting...
April 10th, 2013 at 11:59 AM ^
lol... he'd score out of every corner
The use of "fivehead" to denote Zeller's ample forehead was well played Herm.

Nix declare for NBA.. HAHAHAHA.. Also, He was a senior
April 10th, 2013 at 10:58 AM ^
and Harris are not going anywhere. Payne is projecting into the second round and Harris is not even on draft boards.

April 10th, 2013 at 11:09 AM ^
I missed those 5. That being said, Really? Was Harris that good? He had some impressive games but I don't see that. (In all honesty, I looked at a few mock drafts and did not see his name, it may have been before it was discussed as an option.)
April 10th, 2013 at 11:04 AM ^
Chad Ford has Harris at 10 to Minnesota in the mock draft from yesterday. I hope he takes that as sound advice....and our guys stay far away from it.
April 10th, 2013 at 11:03 AM ^
LOLWUT? Gary Harris is projected as a lottery pick (most mock drafts have him at #10 or #11), and Payne is a "late first rounder" ($).
April 10th, 2013 at 11:05 AM ^
Well said.
April 10th, 2013 at 11:14 AM ^
Although I don't think Harris is leaving (based on nothing), he is on draft boards.
As of 3/20/2013, CBS Sports has him as a high 2nd round pick:
http://www.cbssports.com/nba/draft/prospect-rankings
Chad Ford, of ESPN, has him at #11. I'm not sure what the date is of this release.

April 10th, 2013 at 11:31 AM ^
Huh? Draft Express (usually pretty legit) has him as the 24th prospect and has Payne as 42nd. Harris would be a surefire lottery pick if he was a couple inches taller (listed at 6-4) much in the same way Burke would be a for sure top 3 pick if he was a couple inches taller.
For Comparison, they have Burke at #7, McGary at #17, GRIII at #21, and Thjr at #59.
April 10th, 2013 at 11:59 AM ^
but Harris is supposed to be a 1st rounder. Probably the first time you've heard this
April 10th, 2013 at 12:48 PM ^
An oversight on my part. I looked at a couple a little bit ago and he was not on them. I said to myself "that makes sense, he is somewhat of a lumbering guard with a very streaky jump shot and who struggles to find his own shot and comes complete with concerning back problems that already require surgery." I guess I was wrong on the draft boards (but not on my analysis).

I think Syracuse revealed how Zeller is going to do in the league. You're not gonna get your 2-foot foul halo in the NBA.
April 10th, 2013 at 10:51 AM ^
someone make sure that whoever is giving zeller advice stays far away from GRIII and McGary.
April 10th, 2013 at 11:19 AM ^
Then again, that same person probably convinced him to stay for his sophmore season.
April 10th, 2013 at 10:53 AM ^
Then again, Crean will just get someone else to do it.
April 10th, 2013 at 12:45 PM ^
In a strictly abstract sense, it doesn't bother me if IU has a good basketball team and they get some good recruits out of that state. IU grads don't particularly offend me.
But the notion that the departures of Oladipo and Zeller will send a Crean team back to the dark ages is pretty appealing.
So you're saying that Zeller and Oladipo have ruined their program?
April 10th, 2013 at 10:57 AM ^
I know Trey is all but a lock to go, but damn if everyone else stays were looking good for that BTC!
April 10th, 2013 at 11:01 AM ^
I'm going to keep covering my eyes when opening up MGoBlog for a while in fears of a "[Michigan Player] to declare" post
April 10th, 2013 at 11:01 AM ^
to play depleted rosters? Just as I want OSU to be good and even undefeated when we play them in football, so when we kick their ass it will be just that much sweeter--I want the Big Ten strong in basketball so I can continue to watch great games and, of course, the joy of kicking ass.
April 10th, 2013 at 11:10 AM ^
The depleted rosters with which Michigan was saddled in recent years, both football and hoops, do not appear to have diminished the satisfaction other teams' fans have derived from defeating us.
April 10th, 2013 at 11:22 AM ^
how others acted when we were down? Do we really care how OSU and MSU fans behave and, if so, we are no better. Pretty low bar. It strikes me that some here like basketball/sports less than the esteem they believe they get from winning programs. I'll take the joy of a fun team and great games over getting payback every time.
Why do they keep score?
April 10th, 2013 at 11:11 AM ^
Don't be that guy. I want trophies and banners. If that means playing teams with depleted rosters, bring it on. All that matters in the end is winning, not the guys our teams play against.
April 10th, 2013 at 11:17 AM ^
I believe our goal is to win. If a coach doesn't have a good player to fill the spot of a star that is going to the NBA early, that's just too bad. It happens all over the place and it's not like being happy it happens to other teams makes it our goal.
April 10th, 2013 at 11:17 AM ^
That's an idealistic point of view, but in reality, players get injured (Denard) and players leave early (probably Burke). It's part of the landscape of college athletics.
The reality is, win no matter what. I do not want OSU, MSU, or ND to be undefeated. As a matter of fact, I'd rather they lose every game of every season. To hell with those turds.
like I'm on Spartantailgate?
April 10th, 2013 at 11:18 AM ^
I agree with this but for a different reason. I think that the tough B1G schedule helped prepare this team for the tournament run. I think the tougher games you play day in and day out the better your team will be. That being said I want Ohio to lose every game in every sport always.
April 10th, 2013 at 11:04 AM ^
Now with 4 starters gone I will be interested to see how Indiana does next year. Crean will be in his sixth year at Indiana and has yet to take them past the Sweet 16. In 14 years as a head coach he has only been to the Sweet 16 three times and beyond it once (Final 4 w/ Wade). I wonder how long it will take for him to get on the hot seat if he continually fails to advance far in the tournament.
Good luck to Zeller at the next level, I don't think he will be all that good, to soft and not much of a midrange jumper, but good luck to him anyways.

They do have some great talent coming in, I just have my doubts about Creans coaching acumen. He had what may end up being his best combination of talent and experience in his time at Indiana and they got bounced in the second round.
I really dislike Tom Crean and hope he fails miserably, but he could still be a better coach then I give him credit for and next year will be an interesting test for him.
April 10th, 2013 at 11:40 AM ^
Actually, now that I look at it. Their last year's class was more impressive to me. It will be interesting to see how last years non-yogi freshman perform with larger roles.

Also, I agree with you about crean. He doesn't seem to have the same penchant for player development, with oladipo being his only really positive example I can think of.
