No. It’s looked pretty good this year. As many have said, the top is never filled because the students cram into the lower levels.

Today was worse than usual due to rain. The end.

YESS HATE HATE HATE HATE!!!!

I cant stand Draftageddon but it means comment season has commenced so it’s bittersweet.

LET’S GOOOOOOOO!

Pfffft you wrote this at 7:15. You shouldn’t be reading a sports blog if you didn’t want to chance it.

06/07/2018 - 12:34pm In Don Brown's defense, Sam…

In Don Brown's defense, Sam and Viper are the same spot on the field with different positional/situational roles and strengths/weaknesses.

The Viper has rarely taken the place of a second safety, hence why Brown has prioritized the linebacker-shaped prospects you pointed out (Gay, Reese).

I can't tell if you're trolling or not, but I really hope you get banned asap.

JFC how do I downvote on the new site?

05/22/2018 - 7:20pm Dammit

This is so frustrating...

05/10/2018 - 11:25am I don't care

I don't care. I never understood "fan interaction" with athletes. Same with movie stars or musicians.

They're people that I don't know. I want to see them do what they're good at: play sports or act or make music.

And from the player's perspective, I wouldn't want to not get paid to say hi to a bunch of strangers I've never met when I already have limited personal time. Leave the players alone.

05/05/2018 - 1:43am I root for anything Pujols.

How can you not root for someone named poo holes?

04/26/2018 - 3:50pm It's hard...

It's hard to separate actual coaching ability (talent identification, player development, game planning and in-game adjustments) from other program-building activities (recruiting, publicity, donor/alum relationships) from bottom-line results (winning games, championships, and NBA draft picks).

Program building often comes with inherent historical or program advantages/disadvantages. Bottom-line results often means all of the shadiness involved in dirty recruiting, shoe company relationships, and looking past player misconduct, be it criminal or just immoral.

I'll take Beilein and Jay Wright in the first category. I'm sure there are a solid number that could fit in here from mid-major and low-major programs.

It's hard to argue with Calipari, Self and K in the latter. Izzo used to be in the middle category for me but now falls more into this category the more that comes out about how he let a lot of his guys get away with pretty much anything.

04/19/2018 - 12:32pm LOL

LOL whatever Crowell.

There's a lot people haven't seen State coaches do in Dantonio's tenure.

04/02/2018 - 8:11pm Dayenu!

Day day dayenu!

Just went to my second-ever Passover Seder on Friday night. Sang that song!

Great, great post!

03/29/2018 - 12:50pm Wow

Wow, I didn't even make it to the end. This has to be some sort of mind-fuck troll, no? Let's review:

  • Post an 11W article
  • Agrees with conference pride
  • Would encourage M fans to not root against OSU(!)
  • Has tough time rooting against Duke
  • Would root for MSU(!!)
  • DEFENDS MSU(!!!)
  • DEFENDS RCMB(!!!!/head asplode)

If you're looking for a template for downvotes, here it is, people! ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED!?!?!

03/29/2018 - 12:44pm I appreciate

I appreciate you posting this because it is one of his best pieces, up there with his treatise on fall weddings.

BUT - but but but - conference loyalty is lame in the playoffs. During the regular season, whatever, it helps SOS. Playoffs? No way - I root for rivals to lose as early and painfully as possible. End of story.

03/23/2018 - 4:49pm MOARER

MOARER, morans.

/not a critique of your comment. loved it.

03/20/2018 - 1:41pm WTF

WTF...man those are some terrible hockey suggestions. Normally we're generally on the same page about hockey but if you implement those rules, that's not hockey anymore.

If your entire motive is to create more goals at any cost, you might as well remove checking, make the puck smaller, go totally crazy on goalie equipment (get rid of goalie glovehands, make their blocker the size of the back of their hand, give them a smaller version of football goalpost pads as leg pads), outlaw butterfly-style goaltending by making it a penalty to be on their knees longer than a second, make it a goal if only part of the puck crosses the goalline...

At that point, what sport are we playing again?

03/17/2018 - 1:43am Yay. Mcnamara something something McNown.

Etc. Etc.

03/14/2018 - 7:09pm I may not be lead

I may not be lead complainer about Draftageddon but I love these. This was an excellent post.

Hilarious, informing, Michigan-related. Nice job.

My team: Webber, Stauskas, McGary, GRIII

DUNK CITY plus Stauskas & Webber as combo guards

Edit: Best comment to Seth - "Amazing how many of these guys are already in the game?"

03/09/2018 - 11:12am Kind of a dumb premise.

I get it but kind of a useless article. Basically, I'm reading this as "Rather than be really close for some teams and kinda far for other teams, we use geometry and geography to recommend locations that are a pain in the ass for almost everyone in the conference."

The only one that sort of makes sense is the ACC. Nobody would think it would make sense for the BE to play in Columbus. Not to mention for the Big Ten, Chicago gets the tournament 2 out of the next 3 years and it has been located there 9 times already (second most to Indy at 10).

03/08/2018 - 10:03am ???

I don't understand your point. They sent over half (re: most) of the revenue to member schools.

The first expense line item is championships, followed by "programs", followed by management/general (re: employees).

Are you arguing or agreeing wtih me?

03/08/2018 - 9:49am JFC

It gives most of it to its members. The rest it spends on the non-revenue tournaments and salaries for employees.

12/24/2017 - 1:16pm Pretty sweet

Good work.

11/17/2017 - 10:55am LOL

Yes, I make sports blogs sound stupid.

11/16/2017 - 1:10pm Wow

Wow. I tossed out three options and didn't get any of them correct. I've just impressed myself.

11/16/2017 - 12:58pm Good for Harbaugh

Good for Harbaugh but the thing that sticks out to me is how stupid so many of those players sound. At least Brady didn't sound like a fucking idiot. What Goodell makes doesn't have any impact on the players (short of him being the commissioner) and I get annoyed with sports journalists for perpetuating some of this stuff.

The Commissioner works for the owners, not the players. The players would take $50m if they could get it, too.

11/16/2017 - 12:08am Is this better, worse, or simply different than the D league?

Honest question.

11/13/2017 - 2:58pm Still too optimistic

Another pessimist might call it a two-thirds-empty stadium (at best).

I would have called it "living in Orlando", which is the least optimistic way I can think to put it.

11/07/2017 - 1:18am Weber

Weber. Just wish he had a chance to play with Jake Ruddock.

10/06/2017 - 11:27am No

No, just a few people here and there. Not sure how one poster with 97 points turned into everyone.

10/05/2017 - 6:45pm Hahaha

Hahaha didn't even realize I wrote it that way.

Correction: he tugs at the leg of them when he wears them.

10/05/2017 - 6:41pm Is he related to...

Is he related to Cyndee Summers?

10/05/2017 - 2:20pm Lululemon

My girlfriend's dad is an OSU grad and average level fan but once he heard Harbaugh wore those Lululemon pants he went and bought a pair of black, grey, and khaki each. Every time he wears them pulls on them and says "Harbaugh pants!"

My girlfriend's mom said she's never seen him buy any clothing for himself other than golf shirts and suits. I find it hysterical. /coolstorybro

10/05/2017 - 2:18pm Double post.

Derp.

09/27/2017 - 5:49pm Nerbrasker

I just really hope Nebraska doesn't do something smart with their coaching hires for once and go get Paul Johnson.

I think he'd kill it at Nebraska. Not national title kill it but compete for the West every year and go to a NY6 bowl every 3-5 years. But those dummies will say he's not nice enough or whatever other dumb things they look at when hiring for that place.

09/21/2017 - 4:07pm As long as...

As long as he doesn't get any kicks blocked vs. App State, great.

09/11/2017 - 10:04am I don't get it

I don't get it...a shirt that other fanbases wear makes MGoBlog/Michigan tailgates misogynistic?

While I won't deny the other arguments happening in this thread, I'm not going to bear the cross for a shirt that literally no one in our fanbase wears.

And frankly, I've never thought that shirt was funny...just like the stupid Jim McElwain shark jokes weren't ever funny, just like "Much Fichigan", O$U, or many other dumb things aren't funny because they aren't clever enough to be funny.

09/08/2017 - 2:42pm What do you mean...

What do you mean you didn't know about one-platoon football?

I've never really thought about not knowing that. Like, did you think half of the team was missing from those Yost-era Michigan team photos with like 12 guys in them?

09/08/2017 - 2:23pm Thanks

Thanks...can you overlay this chart against a map of the stadium?

I'd also like hover-over functionality with menu items and pricing at each location and for it to be mobile-friendly, of course.

09/01/2017 - 3:13pm I feel crazy saying it...

I feel crazy saying it, but:

Gary > Wormley

Confident he's >> in pass rush, but maybe < in run defense.

08/31/2017 - 10:38am One of my favorite regular columns

Interesting read.

08/28/2017 - 3:37pm The only real disagreement

The only real disagreement I have is with your description of the "horrendous" late hit on O'Korn in the Indiana game. That was absolutely a late hit and a stupid thing to do - QB has one foot out of bounds, running directly out of bounds, not attempting to turn up, DB puts his shoulder down and rocked him. Even #17 turned around and was like, "dude."

I don't know why you would think that's a bad call.

08/28/2017 - 12:22pm Helllll yessssss

08/25/2017 - 8:37pm I don't see the problem

You get drunk at tailgates...I don't see the problem. Don't drive home afterward.

08/25/2017 - 10:01am Right now...

Right now it's uncreative people who, at every mention of Jim McElwain, make a shark humping joke/comment. The thread above this one about the Tampa Bay Times article is case in point.

They aren't funny. You aren't funny. You sound like an MSU fan talking about Harbaugh eating a booger or a Penn State fan asking what has Harbaugh ever won.

Stop it, please. It wasn't funny the day the picture came out, it's not funny now even if it happened to be funny in the first place.

(I know this is a joke thread. I still hate those people.)

08/23/2017 - 6:37pm Ha I know

I just like complaining about their fantasy league that isn't a fantasy league. It's my running joke and if it's only funny to me, I'm ok with that.

08/23/2017 - 1:00pm Baahhhh

Baahhhh this is still happening...how big are your fantasy rosterssssss??

08/16/2017 - 3:14pm Definitely up there...

That's definitely up there...I'd also place some of the following in the panthenon of all-time great sports-related GIFs:

  • Rollerblading Raptor
  • Michigan punter
  • Mark Sanchez butt fumble
  • Yankees enthusiasts
  • Runaway field cart
  • Red Wings-Blues hockey massacre
  • Deal with it Lakers kid
  • Elated Nets fan

Most of these are in the SBNation GIF tournament brackets. I just wasted 20 minutes of my life now...

08/08/2017 - 3:14pm Probably unpopular

Probably slightly unpopular but I like the all white road uniforms. I've never been a fan of the maize pants with the while jerseys. I actually love the maize socks with the all-white uniforms.

These classic maize & whites are definitely better than any of the all-maize uniforms I've seen, though.
