Love the helmet. Jersey looks okay. I'd rather have a Bennigan's or an Applebee's patch on the left shoulder though. Better prices on their menus.

Fire David Brandon.

The most iconic look in all of sports has been changed for no reason other than to maximize profits.

(Serious question: Where do the Legends patches fit?)

I actually like them. I think they look good. It's only for the bowl game. I'll be adding it to my growing alternate jersey collection.

Then simply don't buy them. Complaining about them is doing nothing. They're obviously doing well in sales and the players like them enough for them to keep doing them.

Kids get excited about these things. I overheard a couple recruits at the Spring Game that Michigan's gloves they wore last year were "cold". I assume that's a good thing.

The one he borrowed from P.T. Barnum, yes?

Failure to see the irony of saying, in the same breath, "it's only for the bowl game," and "I'll add this to my ever-growing connection," is astonishing.  The reason we have these jerseys is not because it matters what the players think about them, but because we have fans who are willing to piss hell of ducats up the wall on every gimmick Brandon throws at them and pretend that "it's only this once."

At this point, I have less of a problem with the alternative uniforms (because I know they're coming) than I have with the fact that they're butt ugly. These just don't do it for me. To mess with the helmet...I don't know man. Is nothing holy?

I actually like the helmet.  But the jersey is God-awful.  Horrible.  Why can't they just wear the regular jersey?  People pay a sh-tload of money to travel to these bowl games.  They want to see Michigan as Michigan, not as a side-show circus act.  I'll never understand the need to create new designs, especially since every single one of them has been ugly thus far.

Honestly, I don't mind them messing with the white uniforms. The white uniforms have gone through many different forms throughout the years; there's not really a unified 'tradition' with the white unis. It's the home blues which have been unchanged for so long. Those are the ones that I have a problem with changing.

You make a good point.  Better to mess with the white than the blue.  That said, why can't the special designs be more special and less "special"?  People on that stupid show Project Runway (my wife made me watch) could design something better than this piece of garbage.  And how much did the AD pay to have these garbage jerseys made?

Absolute garbage.  I hate Dave Brandon.  I hate this jersey, I hate this helmet, I hate the numbers, I hate the logo, I hate the advertisement on the jersey.

Easy there, Herm. Michigan has been wearing bowl patches every year long before Dave Brandon. Whether it was the Capital One Bowl, Allstate Sugar Bowl etc.

For the 2003 Outback Bowl, the actual Outback logo was on the sleeves. Not a patch. It was part of the jerseys.

Of course not, the Rose Bowl stands for tradition, honor, and classic games from almost a century of continuous play.  The "Outback" Bowl is a third-rate, made-up bowl to promote shoddy faux-Australian cuisine to middle-income Midwestern American families so that they can gorge themselves on a helping of meat, potatoes, and pure fat that could sustain a small African village for a week.

I understand such disdain reserved for the "Heart of Dallas Bowl" or the Little Caesar's Pizza Bowl, but the Outback Bowl is generally a pretty good one matching quality opponents most years. If you're suggesting it shouldn't exist, then you're the only one that wants to go back to the 1971 and earlier system where only the Big Ten champion goes bowling.

  • Ratings from Sat: New Mexico Bowl (ESPN): 1.9. Butler upsets No. 1 IU (CBS): 1.5
  • At MGM, there was 5 times more money bet on the New Mexico Bowl than Butler's upset of Indiana.

WE are the reason the Outback Bowl exists. Our fandom, our money.

The rest - meh. It isn't that I hate it, it just doesn't do a lot for me.

If I were Adidass, I would have left the text off and be confident people would recognize the logo. It is similar to having to use a   /s tag - if you have to use it, you're probably doing something wrong.

Every day I am thankful for Herm. He makes me feel a lot younger.

I do not care even the slightest bit about UNIFORM CONTROVERSY. I know I'm not alone here. The boys are still playing football and they are still representing my school.
