Hello: Scott Sypniewski (long snapper)
According to Nesbitt. Long snapper from Illinois in the 2013 class. Says full scholarship.
Link:Hello — RT @TheChrisRubio: Long time Rubio Long Snapper Scott Sypniewski (IL, '13) has committed on full scholarship to #Michigan!
OSU did it two years ago.
/Jim Tressel'd
but my very brief (and highly questionable) research shows that full ride scholarships at Michigan for long snappers are about as common as Venus Transits---there's only been 6 of them given out since the 1600's and they seem to show up in pairs 8 years apart separated by much longer intervals of either 105 or 122 years. I'll go out on a limb and predict it won't happen again until 2117...
I understand that this may be an important position, but its not like we will be begging random 'depth' players to join the class come February.....
This doesnt mean turning down a 'Mike Cox'
Instead it means not having room for an Alvin Bailey if Treadwell commits, etc...
Hoke must have been waiting for Cravens' announcement to pull the trigger.
No Rivals profile, and this is all there is on Scout-http://michigan.scout.com/a.z?s=162&p=8&c=1&nid=6351239
This kid better be the Denard of long snappers if this is true.

Sounds like it's the real deal, though not explicit that he's on scholarship.
Meyer must have cooled on him. Or his offer wasn't commitable.
The real question is can he handle our fake field goal play where he ends up catching the ball...
Boom, Glanda'd
Glanda must be moving to WR.
I'm happy for the kid. I can't imagine how exciting this is for him. However perplexed we all are at the decision, imagine how excited any of us would have been to play Michigan football and how excited this kid must be join Team 134.
That said...this is really perplexing.
Good luck and welcome.
I hope to NEVER hear your name from the announcers, unless you somehow catch the ball for a first down, then it's ok.
I think this decision has left some of us shaking our heads, but 20 commits to the class was like wow, so I guess I will trust the coaches.
Contrary to what I imagined, he does not actually poop gold after each snap, that seemed to me the only logical explanation.
...there is a recruiting video for this kid.
There is also an article that I found from May that highlights the trend in offering scholarships at this position. It provides an abbreviated list of the 25 FBS programs that have offered scholarships to long snappers recently. It talks some about the Rubio camp - what I found interesting is that they've sort of put specs on the position, if you will, stating that a lot of schools want the 15-yard snap completed in 0.75 seconds or less. It's a little detail, but an important one in certain situations.

Welcome to Michigan, Scott!
This guy does it in .69 sec
My feelings on this depend entirely on whether he's on scholarship. The difference between a scholarship long snapper and a good walk-on long snapper has to be, what, one bad snap over their careers? That hardly seems worth a four-year scholarship.
Either way, I hope the kid has a great career at U-M (and that this is the last we hear of him).
He just tweeted this...so unless there was some egregious error in communication, he is on full scholarship...
Scott Sypniewski @Sypniewski56 Commited to Michigan on full scholarship!!!
How dare you question the importance of a quality long-snapper! Harrumph!
video of him snapping over and over.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tlGwlZvEmEM&feature=related
Well, as long as he makes a catch for a first down in a BCS game, I will be okay with this.
look at the kids last name, he's clearly a long snapper and he's clearly going to play at the University of Michigan.
Sypniewski? That SCREAMS Michigan special teams player (and a DAMN good one!)
Ranked as a 5* longsnapper and #14 in the nation on this site...
http://kohlskicking.com/recruiting/national-rating-system/snappers/2013
However, unranked in the top 100 on this site...
5 stars and #14 , wow, the top 5 must be 6 stars
Wow, people really do in depth evaluations of high school long snappers.
We've got our 5* ladies and gents!
on this site where he is the #2 LS in the nation...
That site has 162 long snappers ranked?!?!? Oh, the humanity!
Haha I'm sorry guys but this is just downright stupid. How hard can it be for one of our walkon snappers to do the same job just as good? It's snapping a damn ball, can't be that hard to perfect. We can say goodbye to a 4th WR or a SDE.
well maybe if you'd of spent a little more time perfecting your long snapping skills and a little less time complaining about them, this would be you with the full ride scholarship.
I agree. Hoke is doing an awful job, fire him now. He used a schollie on a long snapper. Bad bad man.
NO ME GUSTA!
Quiero Snapper
EDIT Snapper is easily overcooked, but should never be overrated.: especially if it can launch a football between its legs 15 yds, while looking between said legs, in .69 seconds. Just sayin'.
I trust our coaches and that they know what they're doing. I'm happy for the young man. Congratulations, Scott.
No Kate Upton? For shame.
deserves some Kate Upton on their hello page regardless of position.
Good god...
