Kiel enrolled at ND - per CBSSports

CBSSports is reporting that Kiel has enrolled at Notre Dame. There was a lot of speculation on the board yesterday, which looks to now be confirmed.

and not Gunner.
January 17th, 2012 at 12:41 PM ^
If true, Gunner Keil's school selection makes Yuri Wright's official visit process look well thought out and tightly organized.
January 17th, 2012 at 1:04 PM ^
He's already been committed to two schools. One more for the trifecta!
January 17th, 2012 at 3:52 PM ^
Maybe we should give it a name,... " The Kiel Trifecta "
Works for me, anyone else?
January 17th, 2012 at 3:54 PM ^
Woo Hoo!! My 100th post!!!
Ta- Dah!!! I made it!!
January 17th, 2012 at 4:04 PM ^
What!?!?! No Bells!? No Whistles?!?
No Confetti magically showering down from the sides of my browser?

So Gunner has decommitted from IU and LSU so far. A little indecisive ?? How the heck will he react on third and eight with PeeWee bearing down on him in the ND backfield ?? I can't wait to see what happens ...
January 17th, 2012 at 12:41 PM ^
drop and enroll at LSU....
January 17th, 2012 at 12:42 PM ^
highly rated recruit qb's to dissappoint at notre dame. big whoop.
January 17th, 2012 at 12:43 PM ^
Why play for a team that won't pull its starter when you can play for a team that pulls its starter halfway into the season opener?

"With Gunner Kiel at Notre Dame, now he can be named starter of spring game only to be benched at halftime"
January 17th, 2012 at 12:44 PM ^
Tommy Rees transfers in 3...2...1....
January 17th, 2012 at 12:45 PM ^
Finally, somebody that can fill the shoes of the Heisman sensation that was Ron Powlus.
January 17th, 2012 at 12:45 PM ^
Spread (Hendrix), Pro (Kiel), or zero in on Floyd and turn the ball over (Rees)?
January 17th, 2012 at 12:48 PM ^
Is salivating over this pick up for the Irish
January 17th, 2012 at 12:51 PM ^
breathing...
January 17th, 2012 at 1:15 PM ^
Drooling...
January 17th, 2012 at 12:53 PM ^
To be fair, Coach Lou is salivating over everything.
Edit: Dammit, gotta be quick on the draw to make a Holtz joke.

I'll have a milk steak, boiled over hard.

Do your hobbies include magnets?
January 17th, 2012 at 5:24 PM ^
You want the jellybeans with that?
January 17th, 2012 at 12:48 PM ^
On the other, despite the overall strength of LSU, why the hell would a top pro-style QB want to play there? LSU throws a la Michigan in the pre-Harbaugh days.
January 17th, 2012 at 1:44 PM ^
You mean pre-Anthony Carter days
January 17th, 2012 at 12:49 PM ^
can we bitch about this post? gunner has nothing to do with the uofm.
January 17th, 2012 at 12:53 PM ^
going to an opponent - who is a rival of ours - we play frequently.
I'd say he has something to do with Michigan.
On another note, I wonder if all the sports writers who lauded him for going to Indiana and being so steady will recant those statements.
January 17th, 2012 at 12:56 PM ^
lol. just wanted to complain. like how peoole complain about rr post.
January 17th, 2012 at 12:56 PM ^
if only because my first name is Kiel. all these posts make me feel narcisistic.
January 17th, 2012 at 12:57 PM ^
Kiel committed to ND. ND is our rival. We play ND for the next 4 years. Thus we'll be playing against Kiel for the next 4 years. I, along with others, like to know what's happening with our opponents. Don't forget that we recruited him for a while. Besides the #1 QB recruit in the nation commits to IU, switches his commitment to LSU and then switches his commitment to ND, and you don't want to hear about that? Are you not a college football fan?
January 17th, 2012 at 12:54 PM ^
This kid is a nut job.
January 17th, 2012 at 12:54 PM ^
Man, his recruitment got kind of weird. Not really the best sign in a QB usually. Family stuff kind of reminds me of Forcier. It should be interesting to see how the QB situation plays out in South Bend. Do they go with Hendrix, who was the annointed one only to have everyone lose faith after the bowl game? Or the RS FR Gohlson (sp?) who is a true dual threat, or the highly touted true FR with some apparent issues on the side. Either way, I hope it ends up positive for UM when we play them.
As an aside, what's going on with LSU. I've been reading that there some real discord amoung the team and Les Miles. Part of the reason why so many juniors jumped ship early.
January 17th, 2012 at 12:57 PM ^
Athletically, it's a shame he didn't stay committed to Indiana. He could have really helped them find their way out of the football gutter.

Kiel will get two Heisman trophies and at least two NC games at ND.
Answer: Umm, not so much.
January 17th, 2012 at 1:17 PM ^
that must be really tough, playing football at LSU and taking classes at ND.
That would make for a hell of a travel schedule.
January 17th, 2012 at 2:28 PM ^
When I first saw the OT...I thought the samething. The weridest recuritment sofar this recuriting season.
January 17th, 2012 at 1:38 PM ^
follows in the footsteps of Rees and Christ of grossly underachieving. At least when they play us.
January 17th, 2012 at 1:44 PM ^
Not Christ.
January 17th, 2012 at 2:09 PM ^
Yeah, you gotta say Christ pretty much overachieved, founding a major religion without the help of Twitter and Facebook. Or reading.
January 17th, 2012 at 2:55 PM ^
and the whole water into wine thing... very impressive. Maybe I should have just said "Dayne"...
January 17th, 2012 at 1:46 PM ^
Rees was not even close to being a top recruit and really had no expectations coming onto campus. If anything, he has overachieved.
January 17th, 2012 at 2:05 PM ^
Errrr.... I think you meant Quinn. No, that's not right. Hmmmm........ you must have meant Clausen. Don't you know he went there to "win championships?"
January 17th, 2012 at 6:02 PM ^
has high-maintenance flake written all over him. We'll see how he responds the first time he walks off the field to a purple-faced Brian Kelly screaming at him.
EDIT: not intended to be racially demeaning to purple people
January 17th, 2012 at 1:46 PM ^
But who else is giddy about his decision? We all know it doesn't matter how highly touted a recruit is; it only matters that he is a QB going to ND so he isn't going to be any good. The fact Irish fans will now be grasping onto something that will eventually fall right into their faces makes me happy.
January 17th, 2012 at 1:46 PM ^
He was at the Indiana orientation at noon. Lol .... Until I see this kid in a uniform I am not buying.
January 17th, 2012 at 1:54 PM ^
He's the highest rated QB to be recuited by ND since, ah, whatshisname. Love those Irish traditions!
January 17th, 2012 at 1:59 PM ^
just what the heck recruits find so appealing about ND. Seems they have a lot of red flags going against them, like coaching meltdowns, lack of consistancy throughout the season, lack of (you know) winning, and all. Strange for kids picking between us and them to look at all the ways Michigan is better and pick ND anyways.
January 17th, 2012 at 3:49 PM ^
This, only more so:
1) South Bend has the charm of a carbuncle on a homeless guy's backside
2) The students are near uniformly upper middle class privledged snots
3) Students are obsessed with dorms. Your social identity revolves around dorms. No, seriously, dorms.
4) The Indiana booze police are jackbooted thugs out to stamp out a good time
January 17th, 2012 at 2:09 PM ^
Gunner...just cant quite pull the trigger.
January 17th, 2012 at 3:03 PM ^
Let's hope he has the same problem when he drops back to pass...
