2012 recruit you are most excited about
Fun time of the year with NSD approaching quickly. By far the kid I am most excited to see in 2012 is Pee Wee Pipkins, especially after seeing him look so good in the AA Game.
2. KK, especially when he starts at Ohio!!
3. James Ross, instictive as they come . . . a welcomed change!!
January 12th, 2012 at 2:44 PM ^
he looks like a player
January 12th, 2012 at 2:44 PM ^
Demar Dorsey.
January 12th, 2012 at 2:52 PM ^
This a joke or have you actually heard anything?
January 12th, 2012 at 2:59 PM ^
You mean you didn't hear he committed...?
January 12th, 2012 at 2:57 PM ^
i see what you did there
January 12th, 2012 at 2:51 PM ^
I thunk hell be ahmazung
January 12th, 2012 at 2:54 PM ^
Tall, rangy ball hawk with speed. Looking forward to seeing what he can do, especially since he will get to participate in spring ball.
January 12th, 2012 at 2:51 PM ^
Jarrod Wilson, AJ Williams, Ojemudia, and Pipkins....
January 12th, 2012 at 4:56 PM ^
Jarrod Wilson has been at the top of my list from the day he committed. I think he can have an immediate impact from day 1 and that's he gone way under the radar both in terms of national recruiting as well as for Michigan fans. He will make some big plays next year.
Joe Bolden is someone I think everyone should be excited about. He's getting on campus early. He seems to have an extremely high football IQ. I think he too can get on the field early and will be a leader for this team in the future.
Pee Wee is probably my third favorite. He's loose, but determined. I love his personality and I think he will make press conferences interesting for years to come. He's also a beast on the field. I think Hoke and Montgomery can turn him into a future All Big Ten NT.
Honorable Mention to Amara Darboh. I like guys who have good stories, good perspective, and a good head on their shoulders. Darboh is that kid. His story is remarkable.
I do love all our recruits, but these are the kids who stand out. I hope that they can all come in and help increase the level of competition. These are a talented bunch of kids.
January 12th, 2012 at 2:51 PM ^
I'm excited to see if Tom strobel can crack the lineup on that d line. He seems to have the size too
January 12th, 2012 at 2:54 PM ^
January 12th, 2012 at 5:19 PM ^
Mitch McGary
January 12th, 2012 at 2:55 PM ^
Followed by Wormley. I'm also sort of excited about Sione Houma, but I would guess he's going to redshirt.
January 12th, 2012 at 3:45 PM ^
The one recruit I don't understand. He plays in a full house so he hasn't been a lead blocker in HS. He's extremely undersized for the position and with Hopkins move to FB and Kerridge getting healthy I just don't see him seeing the field for a while.
He does have talent, but I just don't see him as a college FB.
January 12th, 2012 at 5:05 PM ^
It wasn't really until Carr's later years that UM went to the all-he-does-is-block style of fullback. We used to have fullbacks that would get some carries in the running game and catch the ball out of the backfield (guys like Aaron Shea, Chris Floyd, Burnie Leggett, Che Foster, to name a few). BJ Askew was mysteriously effective as kind of a hybrid fullback/tailback player. So, maybe that is what the staff has in mind for Houma?
January 12th, 2012 at 2:55 PM ^
Can't wait to see Kalis mow down everyone as Fitz and Denard run for another 1500 yards each.
I'm also excited about Pipkins, but I hope he doesn't do anything... eye-opening... off the field.
January 12th, 2012 at 3:38 PM ^
I'm not sure what you're getting at... maybe I missed something. The only off-field issues I've heard of are his hilarious impressions and the media loving him
January 12th, 2012 at 2:56 PM ^
Saw a lot of highlight footage from him in high school and I'll tell you what with his hands and speed he reminds me of a young Manningham or Arrington even better maybe!
January 12th, 2012 at 2:57 PM ^
...oh wait. Damn time warps.
January 12th, 2012 at 2:57 PM ^
because we don't have them locked down yet . . .
Kalis, Bolden and PeeWee for those who already committed.
January 12th, 2012 at 2:58 PM ^
Yeah, I went there.
January 12th, 2012 at 2:59 PM ^
Those guys look like naturals, and I look forward to having LB play be a strength.
January 12th, 2012 at 3:00 PM ^
Tate Forcier
January 12th, 2012 at 3:33 PM ^
Woodson. I don't get the joke of naming past recruits. I mean I get Demar, but just other random commits I don't understand.
January 12th, 2012 at 3:00 PM ^
...just because no one else will say their names. I will.
January 12th, 2012 at 3:01 PM ^
The guy is a monster already before even stepping into the big boy weight room. In all of his interviews he's just a humble, well spoken kid who will be a great locker room guy as well. Big things to come from this young man
January 12th, 2012 at 3:01 PM ^
Darboh/Chesson
It's a position where
(1) We need depth
(2) You naturally see guys rotate in for snaps behind starters
(3) "Easier" to learn/transition and you historically see a more guys make an impact as freshmen (S. Watkins, J. Jones). This characteristic is what separates it from D Line.
Next comes Pipkins/Bolden.
January 12th, 2012 at 3:12 PM ^
6' 2" and 6' 3". They'll be some big targets for the QBs.
January 12th, 2012 at 3:03 PM ^
b/c IF he and BWC can both get more fit and PEE WEE can learn the schemes, the combo of those two up the middle has the potential to be sick. Even if not, I'm not anxious to see where Pipkins starts out and how the coaches talk about him as a predictor for future dominance.
January 12th, 2012 at 3:05 PM ^
Jeremy Clark, his steadfastness won me over, plus he has to be the tallest safety in M football history.
January 12th, 2012 at 3:08 PM ^
I'm still curious to see if he gets any looks as a slot guy
January 12th, 2012 at 3:12 PM ^
I was thinking similar, except more likely a wideout. I think he would be M's tallest receiver too.
January 12th, 2012 at 4:16 PM ^
Vada Murray, RIP, was a 3/4 yr starter at safety who was also 6' 4".
January 12th, 2012 at 5:11 PM ^
Earnest Shazor was also 6'4" I believe.
January 13th, 2012 at 12:26 PM ^
Shazor was a WLB playing safety because that's just what we did. We said, screw this spread thing sweeping the nation...we're going to play defense like the Power I will forever be in style. Tommy Hendricks worked. Ernest Shazor did not.
However he had a SWEET hit in that Purdue game!
January 12th, 2012 at 3:06 PM ^
Pipkins for sure. He's like Alan Branch......with hustle
/FredJackson
January 12th, 2012 at 3:07 PM ^
Getting f'd by Meyer. He will not get half of the carries promised.
January 12th, 2012 at 3:08 PM ^
The things he said when he committed about ND and ohio, and everything I have read about him since, suggest to me that the kid is a natural leader. If he can play at a high level, I can envision him being the emotional leader of this defense by his junior year.
January 12th, 2012 at 3:11 PM ^
HE is 325 lbs, and looks in shape. He could play at 340 in 2 years, and be a monster no one saw coming
January 12th, 2012 at 3:19 PM ^
The staff may have
January 12th, 2012 at 7:31 PM ^
You sir,,,,may be correct. We will take this discussion up again in 2013!
January 12th, 2012 at 3:16 PM ^
AJ Williams. With the reports of him being a top 5 player from Ohio if he were strictly an OT i'd say he warrants consideration.
January 12th, 2012 at 3:16 PM ^
Right away? Pipkins. Over the entire four years, I have a feeling Allen Gant is going to be an impact player.
January 12th, 2012 at 3:18 PM ^
Chris Wormley, reminds me of lamarr woodley. Kid has great size
January 12th, 2012 at 3:40 PM ^
He has a massive frame. He could be a monster.
January 12th, 2012 at 3:18 PM ^
Pipkins
Darboh (want to see him become the next Edwards or Manningham)
Bolden
January 12th, 2012 at 3:20 PM ^
Mitch McGary.
January 12th, 2012 at 3:21 PM ^
If he can come close to the lofty Luke Kuechly comparisons from Boston College, we are in for a real treat
January 12th, 2012 at 3:21 PM ^
ROJO joke
January 12th, 2012 at 3:27 PM ^
All of them. They are going to play for Michigan fergodsakes!
