OT- Dee Hart and Saban not getting along?
A blast from the past. I know we only talk about players that play at Michigan, but found this rumor interesting. Also, a RB I believe just flipped to Alabama this week. Thoughts?

It's actually say la vie

Saban is such a likeable guy, I doubt it.
December 21st, 2011 at 1:57 PM ^
I dunno, that board wasn't exactly helpful, it got locked before anyone posted anything. However it wouldn't surprise me to see Dee not work out there
December 21st, 2011 at 1:59 PM ^
If he ended up at Arizona with Rich Rod. Would probably be the best place for him, Rich Rod would turn that kid into a star.
December 21st, 2011 at 2:11 PM ^
I seem to remember Rich Rod and Saban being quite friendly - two West Virginia natives. Maybe Saban will give Dee a push towards his old pal - great fit as mentioned above.
December 21st, 2011 at 2:02 PM ^
Saban is probably urging him to go elsewhere after that ACL tear.
"It hurts. Right? That's gotta be painful. I don't think you can ever play again. Right? Please tell me I'm right. Great! I just heard about this cool thing called a medical hardship..."
December 21st, 2011 at 1:59 PM ^
I don't think this is thread-worthy. There are a million reasons for why a college player could go home for a week. This is nothing but adding fuel to rumors.
December 21st, 2011 at 2:04 PM ^
Maybe so, but the real question is whether Nick Saban is sponge-worthy . . .
December 21st, 2011 at 2:01 PM ^
Since we're talking about things that were not supposed to talk about can I start the rumor he's going to transfer to Arizona to be reunited with Rich Rod?
December 21st, 2011 at 2:04 PM ^
I think Hell is place where you're forced to watch a Saban/Dantonio staring contest
December 21st, 2011 at 2:08 PM ^
...naked.
December 21st, 2011 at 2:10 PM ^
Would I be naked or would they be naked? Just curious.

As someone who does Boolean algebra for a living I aprove of this joke.
December 21st, 2011 at 2:14 PM ^
Great question. Everyone's naked.

Disagree. That was the first Sandusky joke I was able to laugh at.

storage locker underneath Bryant-Denny where Saban keeps all the recruits who don't work out. Maybe he chided them at first, just like all the other scholarship players did, but through shared experiences (when Saban locked him up down there for a night), he started a friendship with one of them. Maybe Hart has started to see their side of the story. Maybe he's thought of... setting them free...
December 21st, 2011 at 2:15 PM ^
If he's in the dog house with Saban, might we see a transfer to UA with a former coach he once committed to? If he had to sit out a year, it would give him another year to strengthen his knee.
December 21st, 2011 at 2:40 PM ^
a raise from Saban. This is common in the SEC
December 21st, 2011 at 2:45 PM ^
Maybe he just realized that he plays for the kind of guy who would step over a convulsing, soon-to-be-hospitalized player and not say a word or try to help him. Maybe not.
December 21st, 2011 at 3:09 PM ^
Perhaps there should be some way to track how truthful a coach is... like in the NCAA video games.
It seems that every year coaches lie their asses off to recruits and never suffer repercussions.
December 21st, 2011 at 3:13 PM ^
The southern media. You won't see an Alabama paper go after the Tide the way we saw the Free Press go after Michigan. It's like the 1950s down there in terms of looking the other way when athletes/coaches misbehave.

I posted about two weeks ago that I had read and heard several times in the span of a few days that Dee Hart would not be enrolling at Alabama in January. I wondered if we would get after him since the kid from Ohio isn't coming.
December 21st, 2011 at 3:29 PM ^
Once Dee blew out his knee, I had a feeling he'd be a roster trimming target for Saban's oversigning tactics. Shame.
December 21st, 2011 at 3:58 PM ^
I know for a fact that he was close to being one...
He and Saban aren't seeing eye to eye. I've heard that from multiple people. Dee was thinking about transferring a couple times this year.
With that said, if he can backup Lacy next year as the #2 and get some shine...he'll be fine.
If not, it's always sunny in Arizona.
December 21st, 2011 at 5:43 PM ^
Don't feel too bad. We all had that same feeling.
December 21st, 2011 at 3:30 PM ^
wants him on IR
December 21st, 2011 at 3:59 PM ^
Play this year?
December 21st, 2011 at 4:47 PM ^
Just realized Alabama has 38 freshman and only 24 seniors on the roster...oversigning at its finest
December 21st, 2011 at 4:46 PM ^
What?. Don't care fuck it.

I find this story hard to believe - someone not getting along with Saban?
/s
December 21st, 2011 at 5:58 PM ^
Honestly, who does Nick Saban get along with?
December 21st, 2011 at 6:21 PM ^
Just curious . . . would Hoke/Borges recruit a RB like Dee Hart, or was the appeal strictly an RR thing?
December 21st, 2011 at 6:30 PM ^
No way - Dee Hart was a unique talent. Anyone would take him. Bama doesn't run a spread either.
December 21st, 2011 at 8:02 PM ^
I always thought that would be a bad mix - Hart seemed like a spread guy and Saban is all about cutting guys the minute they get hurt. I figured once Hart blew out his ACL, it was a matter of time that rumors like this started to swirl. I wish the kid the best, but if these rumors are true (and yeah, dubious internet post rules applied), it doesn't really surprise me.
December 21st, 2011 at 8:58 PM ^
What makes a tailback a "spread guy"? The basic responsibilities of the position - carrying the ball, pass-protecting and catching passes in the flat - don't vary much from spread to pro-style. The only really significant difference I see is that in a running spread offense, the tailback often has to serve as a lead blocker for the QB.
December 21st, 2011 at 10:13 PM ^
it's about how the offenses work. A spread offense does just that spreads the defense out in hopes your offensive guy makes a big play in space. A pro style offense is more impossing your will on the other team. We're going here and there is nothing you can about it. A quicker, smaller back with the ability to make cuts and accelerate quickly works better in a spread think barry sanders. Where a power type works better in a pro style think walter payton / Jim Brown.
There are tons of different types of spread offenses also not every spread has a running QB. Brian Kelly's spread is more of a passing spread, same as Northwestern. A great spread player would still be effective in a pro style offense and vica versa but, they would be much more effective in an offense that's built to their skill sets.
