Joshua Garnett update (good) *with EDIT
A certain recruiting ninja that I trust (and you do to) says that
THIS: http://mgoblog.com/mgoboard/joshua-garnett-update-not-good
is not true at all.
Out of respect to the paysite and the recruiting ninja, I won't say anymore. And I didn't want to post this in the other thread where it could be missed.
Do not write Garnett off just yet, we still have a good shot.
EDIT: The certain recruiting ninja also believes (in cryptic fashion) that it is between two schools: Michigan, and a school not named Michigan. From a football standpoint, I really like our chances. But Garnett has proved that he is putting a lot of wieght in other aspects of his choice.
From a post below, he plans on deciding around January 25 or 26.

I like.

I really miss that certain recruiting ninja. When he was here, this blog was the up to the minute place to get truly inside recruiting info.
Not a dig at Ace, who is doing a tremendous job and showing great toughness and all, but it takes time to build up a network like TomVH.
December 16th, 2011 at 10:28 AM ^
the Ninja was in the bldg.
This new Assbender fellow is just learning the ropes and will develop connections/skilz but I've had to purchase inisder to get any good information in a timely manner so to say that the loss is not a tremendous downgrade would be an untruth. Thankfully he doesn't twitter about cake
December 16th, 2011 at 10:30 AM ^
Assbender... I lol'd.
Keep up the good work Ace!
December 16th, 2011 at 10:43 AM ^
That's a really dickish thing to say.
December 16th, 2011 at 10:44 AM ^
Really?
December 16th, 2011 at 10:53 AM ^
Oh, Lampuki22. Words cannot describe the level of anger I feel towards your steep ignorance.
December 16th, 2011 at 11:02 AM ^
Look, Ace is what he is. He is getting better. It's not his fault that he doesn't have the recruiting insight that TomVH had. I mean, who does?
December 16th, 2011 at 12:21 PM ^
FB and Twitter.
Little known fact: TVH got his start by facebook and twit stalking recruits. He then built that into a phone/interview relationship with many recruits. 60% of the time it works everytime.
December 16th, 2011 at 1:39 PM ^
That ole Webb guy is pretty good.
December 16th, 2011 at 11:02 AM ^
It is a simple opinion. Stop nixing comments b/c they're not 100% supportive of michigan or mgoblog.
December 16th, 2011 at 11:08 AM ^
I'm not sure, but I think he's getting the flamebait tag for the use of "Assbender".
December 16th, 2011 at 11:27 AM ^
I marked it flamebait for his blatant disrespect for cake.
December 16th, 2011 at 11:59 AM ^
But all I'm saying is sometimes you get what you pay for, and sometimes you get cake.
December 16th, 2011 at 1:43 PM ^
well in my opinion, people should not complain about something they get for free. and dude getting downvoted really has nothing to do with michigan or mgoblog. it is b/c it was a personal attack against someone that has done nothing wrong. the bottom line is Ace is giving an honest effort, and in my book, that will almost always get my support.
December 16th, 2011 at 11:07 AM ^
Well, it is of supreme importance that you get BREAKING NEWS on recruiting information. Your world would end if you got the info four or five hours later, wouldn't it? That seems like a good reason to insult Ace, since you had to waste some of your precious money on oh-so-important recruiting info.
December 16th, 2011 at 11:25 AM ^
People are upset because they are getting their rumors a little late and they cant wait. They have gotten spoiled. All relevant info is all out in a few minutes anyway. So, go ahead and pay for some website.
Ace, good job and keep it up.
December 16th, 2011 at 11:27 AM ^
Perfect response Magnus. I enjoy the recruiting information but it is not on my list of critical information hour to hour.
December 16th, 2011 at 11:29 AM ^
A stupid comment like this again will earn you a trip to Bolivia. For now, its Friday and I'm feeling generous so I will simply delete this comment in 3 . . . 2 . . .1 . . .

You didn't used to have a job as timekeeper up in Spartan Stadium, did you?
December 16th, 2011 at 3:16 PM ^
1...1...1...1...1...1...1...1.............
December 16th, 2011 at 12:07 PM ^
talks about Ace like that. You hold your tongue boy. Be thankful for MGoBlog and everyone associated.
December 16th, 2011 at 3:05 PM ^
After you got your paid for insider information? Was it worth the money? And how did knowing that "maybe" some teenager in California now may, rather than may not, come to Michigan in a month and a half, change your life, either today, or in the long run?
Methnks someone is just burning money fast than the Joker on the front page...
December 16th, 2011 at 3:59 PM ^
This site was 110% better when Lampuki22 wasn't posting. I know he's just learning the ropes when it comes to posting, but now I have to sift through his nonsense while trying to read a thread. Thankfully he doesn't twitter about cake.
December 16th, 2011 at 4:26 PM ^
this also applies to Ziff
December 16th, 2011 at 10:49 AM ^
Agreed. Anybody who works hard to bring top-notch info to thousands of people for free is groovy. And the fact that some people would actually criticize that work is just unbelievable. There are times that this place is no different than MLive or RCMB, and that's embarrassing (I'm looking at you, Lampuki22... hopefully you'll have learned some class by the time you graduate from middle school).
December 16th, 2011 at 11:47 AM ^
Is Ace not paid for his work on MGoBlog?
December 16th, 2011 at 11:51 AM ^
but the guy above was trying to say that we get it for free. Not that Brian, Ace, Heiko work for free
December 16th, 2011 at 11:52 AM ^
He was saying that we get the information for free. The blog, however is able to sustain itself and pay it's employees through Ads, the MGoStore, and Beveled Guilt.
December 16th, 2011 at 11:55 AM ^
Apologies, my first sentence was unclear. I wasn't trying to imply that he works for free, but that the content he provides to us is free, since we aren't required to pay anything to receive it. And because of that, it's really dumb when people criticize his work for no good reason.
December 16th, 2011 at 10:12 AM ^
Also Magnusson plead with fans to stop tweeting Garnett and leave him alone. Creepy that he even needs to say that.
December 16th, 2011 at 10:38 AM ^
While I'm not disagreeing with you, because I'm in the same camp that it's weird to directly communicate to 17-year olds you've never met before, "Creepy that it even needs to be said" is coming on strong.
Recruits enjoy interacting with fans on facebook and twitter, encourage feedback even. Whether it's Sugar Shane goofing around with pretty much anyone, DeAnthony Arnett teasing fans last year or Jordan Diamond tweeting his five finalists, twitter is an open communication tool that older generations still haven't accepted into their social interactions. It's just a problem when this overzealousness fandom meets the type of kid that doesn't like all the direct attention (...yet has an unlocked twitter profile).
Yeah, it'd be great if M fans didn't give Josh Garnett the creeps by constantly hitting him up on twitter. Again, these are the same kids that always leave the Big House saying "They knew my name! They were telling me I should come here! I get so much love when I visit."
Recruits always want "love from the fans" but often I think it's a case of be careful what you wish for (...you just might get 10,000 rabid followers that tweet you their opinion) rather than "OMG creepy fanz".
December 16th, 2011 at 10:44 AM ^
Twitter does have some blocking capabilities. If a recruit doesn't want interaction, privatize the account or don't have one at all. There are nutball fans from all teams, and as long as they aren't camped outside his house or something, a recruit has to understand that it comes with the territory a little bit.
Not saying its right, just somewhat inevitable.
December 16th, 2011 at 10:49 AM ^
...The trio of Kyle Kalis, Eric Magnuson, and Josh Garnette is mouth watering.
December 16th, 2011 at 3:10 PM ^
But it's kinda disturbing when combined with your avatar.

December 16th, 2011 at 12:15 PM ^
I disagree with your statement that 35-55 are the main users. Middle and high-schoolers use twitter like a public text message chat room that doesn't have a monthly limit.
If you're using twitter as much as 25-35 year-old generation, let alone 12-25 year-olds, I'll eat a lemon.*

This may be a record for going back and reposting but after just meeting with the co-founder of twitter, it seems that older generagions (and by this I mean people older than older than undergraduates) are the main users of twitter. Granted I included a larger population, than the 35-55, but I still imagine they make up a significant portion of twitter's user base especially when you consider most news agencies and companies with twitter are being run by college graduats and older.
December 16th, 2011 at 11:15 AM ^
really think that tweeting Garnett is going to sway him? Really? Some strangers Garnett doesn't know send him tweets and he's supposed to listen to that advice and truly factor it into his deliberations? Or should he, instead, only consider the advice he receives from people in his life he loves, trusts and knows they have his best interest in mind? My God people are dumb.
December 16th, 2011 at 4:07 PM ^
the Mgo community is quite pursuasive. How else do you explain all the Mgo stuff from the Mgo store in my possession. Exhibit A: Taco Pants t-shirt.
December 20th, 2011 at 10:28 PM ^
of all things maize and blue might have a little something to do with that.
