Matt Millen says MSU is a contender for a National Championship

Submitted by Griff88 on

I couldn't make this up if I wanted to. Maybe Millen thinks that MSU is leaving the country, and playing teams around the pacific rim. I could see MSU becoming National Champions of China, although I think Shanghai  would give them a pretty good run. How Millen continues to collect a paycheck, is one of the greatest mysteries of our time.

FWIW jawsMD, he played middle linebacker at Penn State.  To many hits to the head I think.

But....Im stuck working part time at a big box store, and THIS GUY is raking in good money for commentary I and most of this blog could easily do a better job with?

....because I actually spit piping hot coffee on my computer after seeing the headline. What is he smoking, and can he share it with me?

As bad as he is at everything he has done post football, how does he still have a job? I have to believe he made a real sweet deal with the devil that is only rivaled by the Kardashians.

I haven't done the math, but I'll guess 5-3 (with four non-conference losses) could win a division as the best record if you win against the other 5-3 teams in your division head-to-head.

Since the non-conference schedule happens early on, it would certainly count as a "hell of a season" -- basically starting 0-4, then clawing back to go 5-3 the rest of the way, with most or all of those losses outside of the division.

He said MSU has a solid O-line... if anything that's there biggest question mark. They lost Stipek and DJ Young (There might be one other) and they struggled during the spring game. Cousins will have less time to throw and there running game will be far less effective. Matt Millen is such an idiot, even my MSU fan brother laughed at this.

Not that we need anymore justification, but Millen lost me like 3 lines in when he said they have a good O line.  I'm pretty sure replacing a center with a converted DT, and both tackles off of an already crappy O line isn't gonna translate into great success.  Now, I could be totally wrong and the unit be better as a whole, but I doubt it.

- BJ Cunningham starts failing drug tests, breaks his collarbone twice, then never plays football again

- Keith Nichols gains 100 lbs

- a freshman refuses to carry Keshawn Martin's shoulder pads and Martin starts crying about it

Wow.

I mean not only does he go with Sparty, which, like really.  Dude?  But also Arkansas?  They're playing a first year qb with a very tough schedule.  Not a chance, man.  He even picked Boise 'cause of a weak schedule, which, yeah, I can see that.  But, then, how do you pick Arkansas?  Or Nebraska for that matter?

A contender for NC...just like this past year in basketball, right?  How did that work out?

Actually, I admit there's a huge difference.  Izzo kicked guys off the team (and many blamed that for their pathetic season - by comparison to the expectations) and we all know St. Mark would never do such a thing!

In my lone individual experience with Matt Millen, he acted like a giant tool.  I was at a coaches clinic and he sat a couple rows behind me.  The entire time the presenter - Purdue head coach Danny Hope - was talking, Millen sat there and had a casual conversation with the guy who was sitting next to him, without even bothering to whisper.  Because, you know, we all paid to hear Millen distract us.

"Here's $90, but I'm only giving it to you if you can ensure that some crappy former NFL GM can sit behind me and prevent me from hearing an NCAA coach's presentation.  Deal?"

It's because WC Ford II doesn't know what competence is. If Ken Schwartz turns them into a team that's merely competitive, it'll be a case of the blind squirrel eventually finding a nut. What else can you say about a guy who's owned the team for almost a half-century whose winningest coach is Wayne Fontes?

What's the point in being in the room? I guess Hope probably has some worthwhile things to say but man...what a gross combo. It's like, instead just eating that one grossass sandwich you made that's been sitting in the fridge too long you eat a grape and choke.
