This will age me a bit, but…

This will age me a bit, but I thought David Terrell would have a better NFL career. Grew up loving guys like Des, Toomer, Mercury Hayes...and the timing of Terrell's UM career was such that I thought he might have been the best one yet that I had seen. I was sad to see him go early, but his accomplishments warranted it and he was picked 8th overall. Never had a thousand yard NFL season and only scored 9 total NFL TDs. The 2001 season was depressing when you think about what could have been.

I used to follow JUB on Twitter, but I had to stop because my feed was flooded with his RTs hyping his books. It was too much. And I typically don't listen when he's on because his laugh is irritating.

Outside of that, I typically like what he provides, but wonder how frequently he goes down the rabbit hole for a story.

That being said, Stapleton can suck it. If it wasn't him, he has to know who it was and is in cahoots and covering for them. They can all suck it because this is a witch hunt with a whole bunch of unhinged hunters.

It's pretty rude to get me…

It's pretty rude to get me thinking of the possibility of Deion on those teams at the end of the Bo era.

All but one of the players…

All but one of the players Holmes has drafted the past 3 years is on the roster, and the one that isn't is on the practice squad, a 7th Rd RB from 3 years ago.

That is a MIGHTY hit rate! Some have had injury issues, but the talent is enough to stick around and that was far from true under Millen and others since. Those drafts if just 2 dudes made the opening day roster it seemed like success.

He wanted a Lombardi AND Warde sucks. Both can be true.

"rash rusher"....this is not the Northwestern thread, friend

He has said one of his…

He has said one of his criteria is early playing time, but I feel like all of his top schools had a '24 QB in the Elite 11 Finals, so really the only school that can offer him early PT is the one with no hope at QB.....lil brother.

I would say it shows solid…

I would say it shows solid scouting and development when your 4 year rank outperforms your original rank.

I'm really hoping the… I'm really hoping the Cardinals trade down with a desperate team and the first 4 picks are QBs, then Seattle finds Carter too good to pass up and Detroit can grab Will Anderson. It won't happen, but that's my ideal scenario. Then pick the best CB available with 18.
I think Wemby is the real… I think Wemby is the real deal - a generational freak - and you absolutely take him if you have the chance. I have two major concerns with this team. They have TONS of good/really good players (maybe great): Cade, Ivey, Duren, Bogey, Wiseman, Bagley, even Stew, Livers, Burks, and Killian could potentially play meaningful minutes for a contender. And yet only 32 teams EVER have finished with a worse record. Do they need to try to package some "good" players and draft assets to try to get one or two great players? My other concern is health. Ivey and Killian, who have both had injury issues before, were the only players to play more than 66 games this year for the team. Cade has never played a season without missing substantial time. Are we developing Anthony Davis style players? Really good when they're healthy, but completely unreliable to stay healthy? It might be worse than that because didn't he at least play a fair share when he was younger?
Remember all the people that… Remember all the people that wanted Beilein fired after a few seasons? Remember the people that wanted Harbaugh fired after the COVID year? Give him AT LEAST this year before firing him. This isn't RichRod.
For a somewhat serious… For a somewhat serious answer, Sam Webb says he's "a Harbaugh guy" and fits the mold of a Ben Mason. Most people are wondering if he's a scholarship commit or a PWO. He committed and nobody in the media knew for a couple months.
I would absolutely carry the… I would absolutely carry the top section all the way around to add more luxury seating there and increase the ability to keep crowd noise in the stadium. I have to be honest, though, I would widen seats on the bleachers. From a comfort standpoint the Michigan Stadium is the worst I've experienced, and yet of any sporting event it's the one I most want to experience over and over. I'm not wide, but dang. Also, get the dang wifi to work. Fireworks and effects would be great. As well as we perform and are recruiting in the class of 24, there are simple things like lighting, fireworks, and increased crowd noise (without making it fake/piped in) that could make the experience more hype for fans and recruits. But yeah, I want more enclosed seats for the quiet fans and more space to move for the loud fans.
An EDGE rusher with 7 total… An EDGE rusher with 7 total sacks the past 2 seasons? Would he even be an improvement over that many people on the roster?
It's uncomfortable to listen… It's uncomfortable to listen to. If the beef between these two were to make any recruit of their family wonder what's going on in AA I would be furious. I listen to both. Both have their unique style with pros and cons. If one ever had a hand in a recruit looking at UM unfavorably I would have their press credentials revoked if possible.
Tell Oregon that about Dante… Tell Oregon that about Dante Moore
This recruitment is so… This recruitment is so puzzling. Everything implies Oregon bought it with a huge NIL Nike deal and UM was close but couldn't close. But then multiple podcasts are like "yeah, UM messed up so bad they were never going to win that one". What do the insiders know that they aren't saying? And if Dante, whose dad loves UM so much, were to possibly flip to MSU AFTER what just happened....I would vomit. Not sure how credible the Spartan Insider is, but man...
Had to unfollow the official… Had to unfollow the official Twitter page because their social media team is really rocking a chubby about it and I'm vomiting.
Because I don't care at all… Because I don't care at all about buckeye DBs I saw this title and was like "What? Erick All fought Chaundee Brown???"
I had Whataburger when I was… I had Whataburger when I was in Galveston and it was the most trash fast food burger and fries I've ever had. Total waste of hype and novelty. I've had Raising Cane's in a suburb of Des Moines and it deserves the hype of being really good chicken. Need it in your life? That's an overstatement. But go frequently if it's within reasonable distance? For sure.
The top 4 picks are decided…

The top 4 picks are decided by drawing, then 5-14 slot in after that in the order they finished, I believe. The 3 worst all have a equal 14% chance of getting the top pick.

So if they all finish tied for worst, the lowest the Pistons would draft is #7 - if 4 teams other than Orlando, Houston, and Detroit get the top 4 picks and then Detroit loses the tie-breaking tosses.

I would be pissed. I believe this draft has 4 players that would be great additions, then it drops off substantially. Holmgren (I don't like it but I get it), Smith (my personal #1 pick), Banchero, or Ivey.

I think most mocks have Keegan Murray going 5th. Eh. It would really suck to be that close to getting a playmaker as the next piece for a really exciting team to getting a meh.

Sam Webb recently said it's… Sam Webb recently said it's highly unlikely UM would get both, and entirely possible they get neither. BOTH will require a ton of work, and if we do manage to get Moore we more than likely miss Carr. If we lose Moore, it's not a slam dunk that we get Carr. Both are absolutely interested in several other schools. And to be clear, I don't believe Marcus Freeman is a strong factor in Moore's recruitment. It's all Tommy Rees. It's essential that they get Moore on campus again for the spring game and that they let JJ sling it in the game. Even Cade having the green light to get loose (I think we underestimate what he can do in this type of scenario) would be beneficial.
I'll never understand the 9… I'll never understand the 9 PM home game.
Well done post. It looks…

Well done post. It looks somewhat grim. Michigan doesn't appear to be narrowing any talent gap. If Frames learns how to coach we could be screwed. MSU is recruiting better than they have in a while, and combined with Tucker's portal acumen, that means 4 highly talented team in the B1G East for the foreseeable future.

Arizona is a surprise, and… Arizona is a surprise, and the fact that so many UM-connected players are heading there is now, as well, since Don Brown is no longer there. I thought Courtney was the sole reason he decided not to sign and that meant Washington would be a lock.

Piling on the "this is a…

Piling on the "this is a terrible take" bunch...

7 of Georgia's 11 defensive starters were ranked in the top 45 in their respective classes. Davis was actually the lowest ranked, at 424, and he simply became a beast.

By comparison, 2 of Michigan's were top 45 (Dax and Hinton). 5 of them were ranked outside the top 350 in their classes. IF we had the same talent level, the D would have been fine. The scheme may have changed a bit based on what the players were athletically capable of, but McDonald's scheme was just fine for the talent he inherited. They've adjusted their recruiting to address certain areas, but outside of beefy NIL we're incapable of recruiting to the next level sustainably across multiple classes.

The difference in talent level between a top 5 class and a top 10 class is dramatic.

I really wish we would have…

I really wish we would have had a better ability to utilize the downfield threats of Nico, DPJ, and Tarik with Chris Evans out of the backfield. That offense could have been must see tv.

If I had to look at Mark…

If I had to look at Mark Davis on a consistent basis my happiness would be drained rapidly.

Harbaugh took his stapler.

Harbaugh took his stapler.

And yet we did pursue one…

And yet we did pursue one out of Arizona State, so clearly the staff thinks it wouldn't hurt to have established thunder in the rotation.

Rankings for A&M classes,…

Rankings for A&M classes, 2017-2022 (so far): 13,17, 4, 6, 8, 1

Rankings for UM classes same years (so far): 5, 22, 8, 10, 13, 9

That may not LOOK like that big of a difference, but looking at the past 4 classes, check this out:

A&M: 11 5 stars, 60 4 stars

UM: 4 5 stars, 50 4 stars

That's 7 more ELITE players on the roster and 10 more very good players on the roster. That makes a huge difference in playmaking and depth.

A conversation I frequently…

A conversation I frequently have with friends who are Sparty fans is the transfer portal one.

I'm probably overly critical of the fact that Tucker used it so heavily. They treat it like a talent and logical solution. They're probably right, but my retort then is one of sustainability. How do you recruit HS talent effectively if you rely too heavily on that strategy? What happens when you miss? I assume credits transfer more easily (not at shot at MSU academics) so it doesn't necessarily mean they'll strictly have transfers who only stay for a year. But I have to believe that a strategy that doesn't have a foundation of talent development will be difficult to sustain.

They DID sign a top 25 class and have a few interesting pieces coming in via the portal (including a Wisconsin RB and Florida EDGE), but that would project them, talent-wise, as a fringe top 20-25 team if that's what they sustain each year.

We talk about the talent gap we have against Alabama, Georgia, A&M, oSU, and sometimes ND. It's been a problem that we still overcome on occasion, but we're certainly second tier and we need to get maximum performance in any game to overcome it. Most everything has to go right for us, while not going right for them in those scenarios. Rivalry "throw the records out and anything can happen" stuff applies, but MSU is clearly in a third tier. There are worse places to be, but it will be worth watching to see if Tucker plans to bring in a dozen or more transfers more often than not, or if once he gets HIS kids in place he'll just go for guys to fill a few holes or take a run at spots where there isn't obvious need but if you have a chance at better talent you take it.

I can't keep track of what…

I can't keep track of what the number of scholarships allowed is anymore due to the COVID waiver on eligibility. Has that remained for individual players but completely expired for teams? So it's a hard 85 now? I have to believe that, out of necessity to get under that number, we will see more guys enter the portal as processing conversations take place. It's an unfortunate reality. I hope the young men who leave still feel like their time here was valuable and don't carry resentment.

So you're saying OKC isn't… So you're saying OKC isn't going to pick 3 centers in the top 32 picks?
I hope replacing Courtney…

I hope replacing Courtney ends up being an upgrade. When he came on board I was hearing all sorts of things about West Coast connections and how masterful he was with NIL.

Since then, we've failed to lock up a number of West Coast recruitments we should have had verbals from and multiple recruits allegedly passed on us for greener NIL pastures.

The fact that he's an alum and chose to leave for the same position at a rebuild because of a guy he worked with once isn't something that sounds like a dude who was absolutely locked in. Get me someone that attacks the bag with an intensity unknown to mankind and some Midwest roots, please.

Class of 2023. There's a…

Class of 2023. There's a LONG way to go. 370+ days until he can sign.

I love the potential of that…

I love the potential of that lineup.

Here are the two things that give me pause:

1 - who returns/does not. I think between testing draft waters or transfer decisions (chance to be first string instead of second string, closer to home) there are probably 3-4 guys on your list who won't be here.

2 - how quickly the incoming freshmen come along. I anticipate 2-3 true freshmen making massive impacts fairly early.

While the team will…

While the team will certainly lose a collection of incredible players, in recent weeks I've been especially attentive to how many younger players are contributing a great deal.

Defense: Colson, Hill-Green, Harrell, Moten, Moore, Jenkins

Offense: Zinter, McCarthy, Corum, Edwards, Anthony, Henning, Wilson

All 13 of those guys had fairly significant roles by the end of the year and are all either freshmen or sophomores. I didn't list any juniors or above. That's a great sign for the next few years.

We know the incoming class is strongest in the secondary. My biggest questions for next year's roster at this point will be OL and Edge.

Normally I (like Harbaugh)…

Normally I (like Harbaugh) try to take the high road and not get worked up about teenage decisions, wish them the best, etc. But this one hits different.

Dude decommitted from hometown SC, visited for his third time with his boy and watched his childhood favorite surprise him with a dominating win in what national analysts are calling the best college atmosphere they've ever seen. Then he eliminates UM. Now I say screw that dude and "if you're not with us you're against us". I don't wish him ill, but if UM ever plays directly against him I hope he gets worked by our WRs.

I think incoming freshman…

I think incoming freshman Kevonte Henry might be the closest we get, if incoming freshmen count in this speculation. Maybe he isn't 2022 Ojabo, but maybe he's 2023's version.
