Let’s get going Weiss.

"Mike Singer - who covers ND."

... which would increase the odds that he'd make such a prediction, right?

Why didn't you include a link? Is it this one?

Within (emphasis mine):

This is more of a projection pick of what I believe will eventually happen; I don’t foresee Moore announcing any major news for a few more months.

This amuses me:

Marcus Freeman is going to win some recruiting battles at ND, but it's early and no question that M is going to push hardnfor Moore all the way to signing day.

Moore really liked Gattis, so there’s some ground to be made up on that end of things. I’ve heard rumblings that Michigan was out ahead before Gattis left and now Michigan is behind ND and MSU.

The Moore recruitment will be an all hands on deck thing. Moore, Bellamy, Hart will all be involved. But since nobody really knows anything I'll join the chorus and predict the guy who makes the difference in the end is Grant Newsome. Why not?

Last week Allen Trieu said if Dante had to pick today it wouldn't be Michigan. Trieu thought we needed to hire a new OC & QB coach and start over with Dante. Weiss has been Dante's primary recruiter not Gattis.

Holland said Bellamy is going hard for WR Carnell Tate. Tate was the first WR that Bellamy called when he switched to WR coach. Sounds like Tate and Dante want to play together so Tate is the top priority now.

I've gotten recruiting info here and there in the past but know absolutely nothing about Moore.

I just find it a bit odd that he called Weiss a "genius" just last year (less than a year ago, IIRC) but now people are saying that he is likely the reason Michigan won't sign Moore. I don't subscribe to any websites and I have no direct lines on Moore but even I have heard that lately. It's just strange seeing how Weiss has always been the guy for UM there and suddenly everyone is saying Moore doesn't like him.

OSU started flipping the rivalry with Craig Krenzel, Troy Smith and Todd Boeckman. What the hell are you talking about, "OSU flipped the rivalry when they started playing running QBs?"

That is COMPLETELY made up.

And by the time Terrelle Pryor and Braxton Miller showed up, the rivalry was flipped. We were like 1-8 by that point. Then after them, J.T. Barrett came along.

Cardale Jones wasn't a rushing QB, neither was Haskins. Justin Fields and CJ Stroud both can run, but throw first. They're no more mobile than JJ McCarthy is...

So over a 20 year stretch of OSU's dominance...you're talking about Pryor, Miller and Barrett out of like 9 QBs. And they were all back-to-back-to-back...right in the middle of that run.

Troy Smith won a Heisman and rushed for 200 yards that season. Denard did that in 7 different GAMES in his career. Even JJ McCarthy went for 124 last season as a backup QB last year.

Huh? This reads like somebody listing statistics that never actually watched the games.

Craig Krenzel was a running QB. Did you ever watch him play? He killed Michigan with his legs. OSU beat Miami and won the NC in large part due to his legs.

Troy Smith destroyed Michigan on runs. Over and over and over. It is difficult for me to believe you watched these games and then list Troy Smith of all people as an example of a non running QB. Every Michigan fan from back then can remember Smith tucking and running for 3rd down conversions and breaking Michigan's back.

That is some backwards logic my guy.

Troy Smith was absolutely a dual threat quarterback. Troy Smith's relatively meager rushing yardage in 2005 had more to do with how Tressel used him.

Keep in mind Smith had 611 yards rushing in 2005 (and 339 in 2004 when he shared the starting job with Justin Zwick). Yes, those are both on the small side compared to the yardage Meyer's quarterbacks typically got at Ohio State, but Tressel wasn't running a spread offense.

Smith and later Pryor would have fit in very well in Meyer's offense. Tressel was obviously recruiting dual threat quarterbacks after Smith; in addition to Pryor, remember that Tressel recruited Braxton Miller before the tattoo fiasco.

Stroud is not immobile. He’s a threat to run if the pocket collapses, but can also be sacked by an elite pass rush. Ask Justin Fields what a poor pro offensive line can do for a dual threat QB. There are very few, mono-threat elite QBs anymore. No super-tall golden arms with no feet. And look at Cade—dude is sneaky mobile, though not elite with his feet.

Yet, if you think Cade is slow and immobile (he rarely gets sacked), then why would you discount a guy like Moore? Cade just took this team to the playoffs and Moore is more mobile.

Don’t downplay the commitment of any elite QB. If M loses its top target (Moore), that sucks. He’s be a very good heir-to-the-throne behind JJ.

Yeah, watching Burrow play in the playoffs, I don't remember any QB-designed runs, but he was able to slip some sacks when protection broke down and makes some positive yards and occasionally some first downs with his legs, which kept some important drives alive.  In this day, that's really all you need.  If I'm a coach I don't want to risk extra hits to my QB with designed runs, but I definitely want him to be able to make something positive happen when pass pro breaks down.

I love watching JJ dodging and running around defenders and throwing a nice ball to a receiver downfield.  I have to admit I'm a bit nervous on called runs for him - I understand why they do it, but that kid is a toothpick and I'm concerned some linebacker will snap him in two.  Maybe a little PTSD on my part after seeing what Wiscy did to McAffrey a few years back.
