Bear in mind that Iowa's offense coughed up SIX turnovers. Likely wouldn't have been a blowout like that otherwise.

Agreed. I've been thinking…

Agreed. I've been thinking AI for a while now.

They're a virtual lock.

There did appear to be some…

There did appear to be some development for Edwards. He had a couple nice runs... with a few missed cuts here and there.

If so, my future favorite…

If so, my future favorite shirt will be a picture of him slamming the ball with the words BIDUNGA DUNK underneath it.

That's just four guards for…

That's just four guards for two guard spots, a starter and a backup for each. That's not crowded at all; it's exactly what you want.

Fully agree. I really…

Fully agree. I really appreciate what he did for us and have no hate, but I'm done with him and ready to move forward, though it'll be challenging since Juwan could easily fall back on him when needed. It'll really show us his coaching chops.

Seems obvious that there was a culture problem with the team last year, and I suspect that it's equal parts Hunter and Jett to blame - and, well, Juwan, of course. But with Hunter being the elder statesman, I attribute it more to him, as he was supposed to be the leader. I suspect that Juwan gave Jett too much leeway, which affected the entire team, but it seems Hunter was pouty and immature in responding to it. Perhaps a more mature center with a similar skillset could've worked through those issues better and worked to make the team gel, rather than being divisive. I really don't know for sure, though, as this is all speculation based on observation.

I loved Jett's game along with Hunter's, but I'm glad they're both gone. I want culture guys over anything else, like Beilein's teams - even if we're not winning as much, but just to see them play up to their abilities.

I have no idea what to expect next season, but I'm optimistic and will remain pro-Juwan (as long as there's no more Maryland/Wisconsin incidents, and he's looked improved there). Looking forward to what he can do with this new crew next season. And always, GO BLUE!

That's why the calls for the…

That's why the calls for the temperature to be turned up on Coach Howard's seat were so naive and short-sighted. We lost 3 transfers, two of which were guards, and then the veteran PG that transferred in was injured, so we had a true freshman trying to learn all this. With another true freshman being vary ball-dominant and often our highest scorer. OF COURSE it was going to take time for things to click for this team.

It's actually more like Reed…

It's actually more like Reed at the 5 and Hunter at the 4, because they post Reed down low and put Hunter on the perimeter. It's just semantics, I guess, but Reed's role in the twin towers lineup is much more Center-ish and Hunter's is much more Forward-ish. Slightly odd given their height differential, but it is what it is.

Given he was +18 on the court, you might want to reconsider this thought.

That's very cool. Seth, or…

That's very cool. Seth, or whoever chooses the music, has fabulous tastes in music - for what I recognize. There's a lot that I don't know, though, so this is very thoughtful of you to offer to us fellow fans.

I think you mean "Jones",…

I think you mean "Jones", not "Smith", but otherwise very valid point. I've been making the same point on various forums that these know-nothings proclaiming Howard to be a bad coach, without acknowledging those immense losses from last year's team just show a complete dearth of understanding.

Let's also bear in mind that…

Let's also bear in mind that Michigan was running pretty damn well with Corum (over 100 yds in a half) prior to the injury. Illinois only stacked the box when he went out. Additionally, it was 8 degrees wind-chill with a gusty wind, both of which limit the passing game. Making Ill's strategy of stacking the box even more likely to be successful.

We're expecting mid-40s and no breeze on Sat, but more importantly: We may have both Corum and Edwards back. If we have our RBs #1 & 2, and JJ can connect on even a few slants and crossing routes, let alone a downfield pass or two, OSU will have to respect the passing game, opening up the run for Corum & Edwards.

I LOVE the confidence in our…

I LOVE the confidence in our guys that they'll make another S16. I think after the EMU game, even though the performance was uneven, I said that I seen them as an E8 team, at least. Ball bounces the right way/matchups could lead to a F4. EMU's terrible performance against Bradley had me question that prognostication a bit, but this game certainly shows they have all the pieces. If Juwan and the best assistant coaches in college basketball can harness their potential, I feel pretty strongly about that original assessment.

I suspect that Coach gave…

I suspect that Coach gave him the green light and told him to be aggressive, after seeing his potential in practice. All the Michigan media have been RAVING about him from the jump. Notice that even after making sloppy mistakes, Howard hasn't yanked him. That tells me he's sending the message to him: That's OK, stay aggressive. Once he really settles in (we're already seeing it), we're going to see him be like the accelerator of the team.

Nah, I don't think so. I…

Nah, I don't think so. I believe Tarris Reed will serve us well as the backup center.

Wait - WHAA?!?!

Wait - WHAA?!?!

Even when it's not being…

Even when it's not being brigaded, it's rife with simple-minded people speaking with total confidence about which they understand little.

Dog, we had PLENTY of…

Dog, we had PLENTY of hideous games like that one under Beilein. E.g., when we *lost* at PSU, in a game we really could've used the W. Let's not whitewash the Beilein era. In fact, there were a couple years we barely squeaked into the tourney, due to turning it on late in the season and the conference tourney. Juwan and our boys this year could still pull that off.

Can't believe that you…

Can't believe that you grouped Iowa City & Madison together - irrespective of the fact that you were referencing generic people from "that part of the country". IC is cool, but Madison is magical. Holy crap, do I live that city. Well, like 9 months out of the year. OK, maybe closer to 4... but those 4 are SPECIAL!

They're both sophomores,…

They're both sophomores, which means they're under-classmen.

I don't know about Jace, but I know that Zeb was sick for the WSU game. Not sure if that was still the case last night.

That's one of the biggest…

That's one of the biggest questions to me (though, there are certainly several more), but I cannot even begin to proffer an answer.

He'd been playing quite well up to the illegal hit - and then he couldn't hit any of the shots that he'd have completed consistently before: Like the end zone toss to Honigford. He was wide open, Cade wasn't really under pressure, and it should've been an easy completion; and yet, he biffed it.

So, was it due to the yips or an actual, physical injury? And, if possibly the latter, why wouldn't they sub in another QB. I'm not sure, who, but I think he shares the name of the main protagonist of Good Times.

It was the most utterly baffling half of football I've seen since, uh, last season, I guess.

I just cannot fathom why a…

I just cannot fathom why a big like Traore would want to be coached by anyone other than Juwan. We've already seen what he did with Davis, who wasn't even playable before Juwan arrived. Then he took a middle of the road 4* big and turned him into a player of the year candidate. Then there's the 2 decades of NBA experience. And the connections. And on and on and on...

I really hope we pull it off, but don't want to be strung along forever & then get stung in the end.

n/0 does not "produce"…

n/0 does not "produce" infinity... at least, depending on what that verb means. If by "produces", you mean "equals", then that's incorrect. While it does approach it, in terms of limits, from one side, it does not ever actually equal infinity.

Shoot, you caught it before…

Shoot, you caught it before I could edit it. I had just realized that and came here to correct it, but you already did. So, thanks. Nothing worse than an attribution error, amirite?

My apologies, Biz! As well as Seth, I suppose?

"When they play Michigan:…

"When they play Michigan: Finally, Michigan faces a potent Husky offense." Oooouuuuch.

Solid burn, BiSB. Well done (are the Washington Huskies).

Edit: author correction. Sorry, Biz... as well as Seth, I suppose?

No one seems to be…

No one seems to be mentioning the fact that we've only seen two games thus far, both of which have been in Michigan's control from early on, so they haven't had to open the playbook. Why show B1G opponents our RPOs with reads, when we can just predetermine a play and have success with it?

All of this concern over Cade and his potential inability to run an effective RPO is overwrought. Patience, wee ones. Patience.

All has already mae at least…

All has already mae at least one reception - and his hands are most definitely not "butt". Yes, he had several bad drops last season, but that was psychological, not physical. Seems, so far, like he's got his head straight. Remains to be seen, of course, and maybe the yips return, but I'm holding out faith that he's on the upswing.

A little short on football…

A little short on football content, and a tad long on "verbal noodling". Ya know, these were like the verbal version of Jerry Garcia d*cking around on his guitar for a few hours in front of thousands of people. But some people are into that. To each their own.

More importantly, my absolute favorite version of a "veridical paradox" is Gabriel's Horn. I'll give a very brief overview, and encourage everyone to read some more on it (let's be real: most will turn to youtube instead, and that's a-ok.)

Here's the idea: We can take a curve on the cartesian plane and rotate it around an axis, creating a 3 dimensional shape. And we can then calculate both the volume and the surface area of this shape. Thanks, calculus. It's really kinda mind-blowing that we can do so - and all the other things it enables us to do.

So, back to the paradox in question: If you graph the curve of the functions f(x) = 1/x, it creates a nice curve that comes dropping precipitously from just to the right of the y-axis, and then right before crashing into the x-axis, it makes a quick turn to the right (and I imagine some drifting takes place, *just for style*.) It gets perilously close to the axis, but never, EVER colliding with it. You can follow it out, as x gets larger and larger, always verging on infinity but never reaching it, the curve gets closer and closer and closer to the x-axis - but never the twain shall meet.

Now, all we have to do from there, is chop the first part of the curve off, the precipitous drop from x = 0 to x = 1, but we're going to allow it to continue out for all time and eternity. Now, we're going to spin that around the x-axis to create a horn-looking object. This, indeed, is the proverbial "Gabriel's Horn". Not only is it pretty, but it creates a paradox so utterly baffling, I still get overwhelmed trying to contemplate it.

Are you ready? (Uh, no; no, you're not.) OK, take a deep breath and sit down before you read the following. This is what makes the shape so utterly astounding: The volume of said horn is finite, that is, it's a specific measurable amount. While, on the other hand, the surface area of this magical shape, is INFINITE. It's freaking INFINITE! Try wrapping your head around that one... but not too much, given that the surface area is infinite, wrapping your head around it could lead to your brain melting, or exploding, or disintegrating, - or all of the above, simultaneously. (In fact, several famous mathematicians have gone insane trying to comprehend infinity and all of it's characteristics and implications, so I'd urge not to go too far with this, espcially after a therepeutic dose of ketamine.)

I kept thnking during that…

I kept thnking during that discussion, "Why does it matter if he has the potential to be all B1G?" We can win enough to satisfy most with him just being as good as he's shown himself to be. If Cade plays well, our plethora of potential at wide receiver, and our other top 3 back break off some chunks, thanks to solid o-line play, it could be a season we can all hang our hats on.

Some want/expect Michigan to return to the conversation of top-teams in the country and are letdown if we're anything less, but that's an unfair expectation given the recruiting advantages that those teams have.

If we're moving in the right direction, and end with a respectable record, I'll be satisfied. Haskins only has to be Haskins for that.

I'm just hear to enjoy a dumb game after a long and exhausting work-week. We don't need to be world-beaters for me to enjoy the season.

Well, then, let's give Nunez the boot and stop wasting a scholarship (unless he's a really good scout team player, I guess).

Other option is Jace pays his way, if his fam can afford it, of course.

Great work, Seth! Your graphic design wizardry never fails to brighten our readings.

I especially appreciate your album cover mash-ups, as they tend to be some of my favorite albums - and when I don't know them, I can assume it will be an album that I'll love. So: doubly appreciated!

I think he's an upgrade. His A:TO ratio isn't as high, but it's pretty damn good. He can score on all 3 levels versus primarily one level for Simpson. His defense isn't as good, but it's more than respectable. And. he. makes. FREE. throws.

When I tried to watch the…

When I tried to watch the MSU v. OSU game, that's all it looked like to me. I expected some high-level play, but it was just forced bad shot after forced bad shot/hero ball for almost every possession I saw.

I just don't see Zeb being a viable PG. I think he's considered a combo, but he looks to be a much more natural SG.

Either Mikey or Eli could…

Either Mikey or Eli could return next season. Both of which would be a boon to the team. Hard to say which would be the most beneficial, but I would suspect that Mikey would be the priority. Though Eli is our best on-ball defender, Mikey is our best true point, and has proven to be suprisingly solid on D. Keeping him at the 1, with Frankie spelling him, and having a year to step into the starting role would make for a pretty smooth transition.

That would be incorrect. If the ball has hit glass already, then it's goal tend, irrespective of its placement in relation to the rim. Thus, it *was* a goaltend.

Dude! It's been killing me trying to think of who he reminds me of, knowing that there was someone that he was very akin to - and that's it! Definitely Michael Finley that I was trying to think of.

I bet we get either Efton…

I bet we get either Efton Reid or Moussa Diabate. Both of whom would be stellar. The latter is at IMG with Jett, so that might be the deal. Other hand: Efton has us in teh top 3. HAve to imagine one of them wants to secure the spot in the class before it's filled.

LET'S GO!

I loves me my Michigan, but if I was in his position...I ain't gonna lie...all other things being equal, I'd most likely do the same.

I would imagine that Brooks…

I would imagine that Brooks will start at point with Christopher at the 2, and Smith replacing Brooks at point. Not sure that we'll see too much of Brooks and Smith, but I guess he could play the 2 as well.

Can't wait to see what coach does with all this talent. Going to be some fun squads out there.

That's what I've heard as a…

That's what I've heard as a strong possibility. I've always liked Maryland (pre-B1G days), but I really don't want him playing for another B1G school. Missouri or Marquette would be cool.

TBH, at this point (that is,…

TBH, at this point (that is, assuming we get Christopher), I'd rather have a 5th year from Davis than Greg Brown - a second 5*, one & done, scoring guard.

I'd like to see Nunez walk and Livers go pro (not that I *want* him too, but if he continues playing this way and shows up in the B1G tourney and the big dance, he'll certainly be gone.) If Livers stays and Todd sticks with UM, we'd have to coming into next season as pre-season top-5.
