I was yelling at the tv and…

I was yelling at the tv and tweeting all game about this.  In 2021, we brought him only mostly to run and now hardly use that weapon at all.

I get he's now our starter and is not 100%, but thought we would use it to loosen up the D a little too.

I wrote this in another…

I wrote this in another thread but wanted to share it here. It was truly one of those moments that I couldn't believe I was fortunate enough to be in.  I can count the number of U-M games I've been to, in person, on my fingers.

We hadn't been to a game since the ohio 2007 game but decided, at the beginning of the 2021, that we would go. U-M sent me an offer for a ticket pack. One pack included osu and three other games, the other no osu and four other games. Going, and choosing the right ticket pack, might be the best decision I've made in my entire life.

Was so happy to cross "storming the field at Michigan Stadium" off my bucket list. I'm 51 and my wife's 57.  I had joked, "you know we're running on the field if we win".  She kinda chuckled and said, "We are not."  She looked over at me after Haskins scored the last TD and could see in my eyes, "Yes, we are."

I don't know if any of you have seen Let It Ride. Horse racing movie with Richard Dreyfus.  Near the end, he just says to himself, "I knew it" after in incredible run of luck.  I felt the same way that day.

I've looked at every post-game picture, and video, since and never spotted us.  Today, someone posted a picture on Twitter and sure enough I finally found us on our way down tot he field.

I'm getting buried with one of those maize pompons.

Go Blue!

Haha.  I hesitated to even…

Haha.  I hesitated to even post my superstition because I thought, "Wait, I've never posted about my superstitions before. What if that's a superstition in itself?!?"

We hadn't been since 2007 but decided, at the beginning of the 2021, that we would go.  Honestly, might be the best decision I've made in my entire life.

Put on my Michigan Football…

Put on my Michigan Football t-shirt and start the day with these two ingredients.

It's Johnnie Walker Black in case you wondered.  I should probably switch to Blue now that I think about it.

I wish.  I'd give anything…

I wish.  I'd give anything to see a post-game handshake.

But, pretty sure the suspension reads that he can't be at the venue on the date of the game.

Yep.  Pretty sure the…

Yep.  Pretty sure the wording prohibits him from being at the venue on the date of the game.

What is the primary goal?

What is the primary goal?

More tea, anyone?

More tea, anyone?

I don't know what to say…

I don't know what to say about that grounding, because watching it live it was obvious he was just unloading it to avoid the sack.

I thought there was a similar play in the same endzone earlier.  1st quarter I think.  He was in the end zone, outside of the tackle box, and threw it well out of bounds. I swear it did not look like he threw that ball anywhere near past the line of scrimmage.

Never saw a good replay of it.  No one said anything so maybe I was just wrong.  But, the replay I did see, at not a great angle, sure looked like there was no way it passed LOS.

They did!  I commented on it…

They did!  I commented on it and can still see my comment about him limping, but the original tweet is gone.

I'm disappointed as hell…

I'm disappointed as hell that there won't be a Harbaugh post-game handshake.  But, the signs behind Gameday crew should make up for it.

Hasn't U-M already,…

Hasn't U-M already, effectively, pled guilty?  B1G issued a three-game head coach suspension and U-M self-imposed a lifelong ban(firing), Stalions.

Let's say the whole staff knew he was doing this.  Would the NCAA normally issue more than a three-game head coach suspension just for a violation of in-person scouting rule?  A rule that was almost repealed.  I keep reading that it's not considered some huge violation.

If a three-game head coach suspension seems like a light punishment, than issue a heavier one.  If it's adequate, be done with investigation.  It's not a fishing expedition. Be done with it and get back to football.

I was thinking more about…

I was thinking more about this today.  I wish it were a bigger part of the speculation.  I hope, when the investigation is over, JH comments on this aspect.

It's not really much of a…

It's not really much of a story, even if true.  Think it just lends credence to the belief that no other staff were involved.

If #1 were true, I don't see…

If #1 were true, I don't see that being something that we'd abandon the hearing for.  Could've had the hearing and dealt with Partridge next week.

Yeah. Fair point.
I guess I…

Yeah. Fair point.

I guess I just figure a three-game head coach suspension would suffice even if the entire university knew.  It's just in-person scouting.

If the NCAA had any…

If the NCAA had any integrity, they'd drop the investigation right now.  If Stalions did everything he's accused of, are they really going to do more than punish U-M with a three game head coach suspension? For scouting other teams in-person?

It's not a fishing expedition(or at least shouldn't be).  Pronounce him guilty, say the B1G punishment suffices, and get back to football instead of this circus.  Unless it's gotten to the point where it's all about the clicks...and that may be.

Up until this point, JH hadn…

Up until this point, JH hadn't tarnished on me.  That's different now.  It might not be something HR can spot, but coach Harbaugh should've known about this.

I don't mind bending the rules, and that might be all that happened as far as JH, and NCAA rules, are concerned. But before any rules are bent, he should've told all coaches "I want to bend the rules as much as possible, but if there is any question, ok it through me first."  Either they kept it from him, which isn't good.  Or, he knew.  Which isn't necessarily bad, if he thought this wasn't a rule violation, other than he should've been up front with university when story broke.  Maybe he was.  I guess there's still a lot we don't know.

One lone wolf I can accept keeping this hidden from coach.  But, more than one?  The buck stops with him. I'm guessing/hoping that's why he agreed to the suspension.

EDIT: Just in the time it took me to write this, it comes out that Partridge didn't know but destroyed evidence.  Guess I should concentrate more on my "I guess there's still a lot we don't know" more than anything.

What worries me the worst…

What worries me the worst about all of this is the players feeling as demoralized as most of us seem to feel this morning.

I went to put on my U-M sweater this morning, which I do every morning, and paused wondering if I wanted to do that today.  Made me realize, how must the players feel?  They've heard, as much as us if not more, how U-M is going to fight this and has Harbaugh's back, etc...

I'm sure coach talked to them and gave them the reasoning, but it still has to have an effect.

Are they destroying all references to "Michigan vs. Everybody"?  I fully expected us to show up for Michigan vs Maryland and Michigan vs. ohio.  We didn't show up for Michigan vs. Everybody...

If they're going to go…

If they're going to go through the trouble of trying to hide payments, why on Earth would they pay it to an employee?  Pay it to one of Stalions's minions and Stalions and it might not get discovered.

THAT. JUST. HAPPENED.

THAT. JUST. HAPPENED.

Not to mention, it will be…

Not to mention, it will be very easy for them to move the goalposts when they're that short.

Yes, but so what?  That…

Yes, but so what?  That exception isn't carved out of the bylaw prohibiting in-person scouting.

If Stalions is breaking the rule by paying someone else to video the game, so is Ryan Day(if he subscribes to ESPN)

I agree that that's what it…

I agree that that's what it really comes down to.

I think they could argue that staffers around the country pay for ESPN subscriptions.  Those subscriptions in turn pay the cameramen at the games.  Are the cameramen now considered staffers?

I think they should just do away with anything that even makes it sound like "sign stealing" is against the rules.  It's just part of the game.  If you're worried, improve your sign use policy.  The game isn't all brawn.

I think they will say it isn…

I think they will say it isn't being used to enforce the NCAA rule.  They may have used the evidence that NCAA provided, but they'll say that evidence alone is enough to deem the sportsmanship policy violated, even if NCAA rule wasn't.  With this wording, I feel the commissioner could say Harbaugh gave him a dirty look and sentence him to two game suspension, all by himself, if he so chose.

Actions that are offensive to the integrity of the competition, actions that offend civility, and actions of disrespect are subject to review and are punishable in accordance with the terms of this policy. Although this policy will apply most commonly to actions that occur within or around the competitive arena, the scope of its application is intentionally left unrestricted in order to accommodate any behavior, which may occur in any setting, deemed by the Commissioner to offend the underlying objective this policy seeks to achieve.

 I mean really, doesn't…

I mean really, doesn't almost any violation of the rules become a Sportsmanship issue?

I'm not even sure it has to be a violation of the rules.  That's how broad it is.

My main worry is that the…

My main worry is that the sportsmanship policy of B1G is just way too broad.  I worry a judge will say something along the lines of "It's a VERY broad policy, but you B1G members approved it.  If you don't like how broad the policy is, YOU need to change it."

But, I'm hoping that comes in regular hearings AFTER a judge grants a PI.

I couldn't work…

I couldn't work Carouselambra into a football sentence. Made me sick again, but it's nobody's fault but mine.  That's the way it goes sometimes.

But, time for me to ramble on.  I've had too much to drink after that win...it was quite a celebration day.

I just don't like not…

I just don't like not keeping the defense honest.  At least a screen or two.

But, it worked so I'm fine with it...now.

It was like a f'n mob hit.

It was like a f'n mob hit.

Nah, I get it.
But, F B1G…

Nah, I get it.

But, F B1G...that's why.

They should hire Stalions to…

They should hire Stalions to be acting head coach today.

BET

But, the rationale of the…

But, the rationale of the argument in the OP is that the NCAA dictating how a university can allocate its resources is what violates antitrust laws.

Wouldn't NCAA = NFL and university = nfl team  in my analogy?

If bargaining can allow NFL…

If bargaining can allow NFL to violate what otherwise would be antitrust, wouldn't B1G schools have signed something that agrees to bylaws which also would've otherwise violated antitrust?

Seems like the argument…

Seems like the argument presented could also be used to claim NFL salary cap rules violate antitrust laws.

Been saying this from the…

Been saying this from the beginning.  If osu knew, they could've not just mitigated it but completely thrown us off.  Switch pass play signs with run play signs.  Have us chasing our tails all game.

Either they were too stupid to figure this out. Which, even for bucknuts, seems unlikely.  Or, they REALLY got their a$$e$ kicked.  We could've won by 50 points.

I'm more worried about…

I'm more worried about Petitti suspending him for two games the day after psu.  That would cover the osu game and it's within his purview to do so without board approval. Not saying a tro or injunction couldn't be done.

My conspiratorial side wonders if they are waiting to see result of psu game.  If we lose, do they suspend in fears that us beating osu would possibly lead to no B1G teams in CFP?  If we win, maybe they don't suspend in hopes that two teams would make it?

Of course, we could beat osu without JH too.  Lots of thoughts, lots of possibilities. Just want this to disappear.

They should make the post…

They should make the post-game handshake pay-per-view.

Maybe they are waiting for…

Maybe they are waiting for the last two games...which includes "them."

But, the do know where…

But, they do know where Hitler was born.

Gentlemen!

Gentlemen!

There was an investigation?…

There was an investigation?

Let's pretend for a moment that there was.  If they've decided to suspend, why wait until tomorrow?

CHEATER!
But seriously, I…

CHEATER!

But seriously, I don't think sign "stealing" should be in any way against the rules.  I guess technically it isn't, but any rules put in place to stop it don't need to be there.  Do we stop ban reading defenses?  Put in earplugs so players can't hear opposing teams' QB audibles?

If you have people smart enough to figure out signs, actual signs, the other team should have to adjust.  It's not all brawn.

Motion and hard counts are…

Motion and hard counts are cheating.

I can't believe how may…

I can't believe how may suckeye fans I've come across who swear the only reason we won last year was due to cheating.
Do they not realize it's already been noted that osu knew about this last year?  If they knew, and had the ability to throw us off by reversing their signs, they just make themselves look worse?  The had the ability to get us chasing our tails and we still annihilated them?  Would it have been 80-27 had they not known about the alleged sign stealing??

Killing two birds with one…

Killing two birds with one stone here.  He agrees to help CMU as long as they give him a pass and don't Men In Black him, so he has the signs for U-M msu game, after the game is over

No reason it couldn't be…

No reason it couldn't be both.  If he's helping CMU, they're not going to Men In Black him to forget msu's signs after the game.
