This shit is mentally wearing on me, dude. This has zero bearing on my actual life but God dammit, I'm so tired of the constant negative news. The only cure for our ailment is big, fat, silencing W's. Win and it's loud background noise. Lose and be swallowed up by it.

I have faith in my Wolverines to do the former.

Maybe if Michigan turns it over and Maryland gives their best game. Maybe.

But the players are so busy with school and practice. They are no worse off mentally, physically, or spiritually over last week. There will be a lot of motivating speeches tonight and tomorrow.

It's really the fans that are so invested emotionally that it is driving us nuts.

On paper Michigan wins without issue.

Honestly, there aren't that many mature adults around this whole process and I've been impressed by this team throughout it already.  This doesn't seem like the type of team that craters against adversity.  Also, Maryland really isn't that good of a football team.

Now, they may lose to OSU and I'm sort of preparing for that because the gap between the two teams isn't great, but there's way too much doom and gloom around here.

It’s really sad that Michigan can’t even have a real scandal or cheat in a way that they got some huge benefits from and they still have all of this drama attached. Teams are paying high school kids just to visit campus, using ped’s, channeling funds through “nil” to players, marginal academic requirements, etc and we dig a grave over cheeseburgers and and some nut job with a manifesto stealing signs that we really didn’t even need to win. I, like many others, just wanted Michigan to operate on the same playing field as others but I think we have witnessed time and time again that Michigan can’t do it. Stretchgate was another example of how we trip over our own two feet constantly.

I am extremely unclear on how the booster story is anything at all anyway. It's entirely legal for anyone to go give Connor Stalions money for any reason. Boosters paying players is against the amateurism rules, but Stalions isn't an amateur. He was drawing a salary.

Like, if Stalions walked straight up to a booster and said "Hey, I've got an illegal plan to steal other teams' signs, but I need ten grand to make it work" and the guy cuts him a check, I am super unclear on which NCAA or Big Ten rules would be broken in that scenario.

I don't know for sure whether Churchill actually said this, but:

Churchill: "Madam, would you sleep with me for five million pounds?" Socialite: "My goodness, Mr. Churchill... Well, I suppose... we would have to discuss terms, of course... "

Churchill: "Would you sleep with me for five pounds?"

Socialite: "Mr. Churchill, what kind of woman do you think I am?!"

Churchill: "Madam, we've already established that. Now we are haggling about the price.”

My point: Michigan is (and has been, to degrees) in the dirt for a long time, though maybe not to a *great* degree. At this stage there's no shame in mixing it up with the expert cheaters. I'm referring mostly to OSU.

The only rule that was likely broken was the 11.6 bylaw against in-person scouting. None of the sign-stealing or video recording details are strictly relevant. There is a rule against recording your own games, but not other opponent's games. And as we all know, sign-stealing itself is legal. All 11.6 mentions is in-person scouting of future opponents, not recording or sign-stealing.

This whole issue is whether Stalions's scheme was an illegal method (in-person scouting) of a legal thing to do (sign-stealing). And the answer to that hinges on how you interpret 11.6, namely whether Stalions sending unaffiliated third-parties to future opponent's games counts as in-person scouting.

This booster payment scheme likely doesn't violate any NCAA rules in itself, but where the money was coming from is probably relevant to determining whether the scheme counts as in-person scouting. And it could violate some tax laws depending on much Uncle T was sending Stalions.

We need a judge and jury that don't give a shit about college football and have no biases and don't care what the public (read, sports media, MSU and OSU fans) generally thinks.  They need to evaluate the Michigan situation against the rule book as it's written.  I would bet a dollar that these impartial people would not view Michigan's "cheating" as a scandal of the century as the haters make it out to be.  Not even close.

Michigan cleaned house and Harbaugh is sitting through the most important and toughest games of the season.  We've paid our dues.  This thing should be case closed.

This, this is the whole thing. Always has been. And arguably it was never even meant to be secret, except in the way that Michigan hopefully has a secret Fake Double Pass drawn up for Donovan Edwards to use against OSU.

If Stalions thought there was a chance in hell anyone would ever call this the worst scandal in the history of the Big Ten if they found out, wouldn't he have at least taken one more step and created a fake account name and used some prepaid Visa cards on StubHub?

Sounds like the kind of guy who lives in a big, swanky house in New Jersey, has an unstable relationship at best with his wife and kids, goes to therapy to cope with his panic attacks, works in "waste management," and has a hot head, bottomed out, drug addict of a nephew.

If always loved Curley the most, so funny but a very flawed man who got caught up in betting, women and alcohol.  He was however so loved.  His grave in small Jewish Cementary off the 710 in NW LA is something to visit, with lots of flowers, gifts etc.  Now Go destroy Maryland, OSU, Iowa and any beyond that.  I believe in the Team, their strengths, their focus, their Coaching and that the Team will be so pissed off.
