That post game speech is what I love. Bring it on. That was for Fucking Harbaugh!

Kinda harsh...  It's a fair point made without complaining about the team or the play calls.  On a personal level for JJ, sure - he doesn't care in the big scheme.  But we were all pulling for it, and now it's essentially off the table.  This game - top 10 opponent on the road, was his 'Heisman Moment', and it didn't happen because the Iowa rock fight game plan took the ball out of his hands.

The game plan was largely forced by PSU playing all out to stop the pass, mostly by abusing Barnhart along the way.  Running 32 second half run plays in a row does not make a 'Heisman Moment'.  So OP's lament is valid.

I wasn’t a huge fan of completely abandoning the passing game. But I also came in with a “Just win the game” mindset with the 11th hour suspension of Jim. At the end of the day, we went on the road and beat a top 10 team. Cant complain too much there, but main criticisms seem to be surrounded by the fact that he’s very conservative.

The game thread is generally replete with poor, emotionally reactive takes. Today was no exception. For all of the complaining, Michigan beat a top 10 team on the road, in its first big test of the season, without throwing a single pass in the 2nd half!

I think Moore saw early on that their pass rush was going to be a huge issue. And conversely, we had success running out of the "dump truck" package, as Klatt called it. So why not condense the game and force Penn State to stop the run? I thought overall, Moore called a good game and even bigger than that, he led us to a huge win in a ridiculous situation.

This, exactly.  It was very clear early that Barnhart wasn't holding up, and the DTs were also getting through.  Adjusting to the run attack was fantastic!  But in the 2nd half, 20-some runs in, I was wondering why they were all A & B gap runs.  Nothing designed to get the ball outside quickly, except for a bounce.  Corum made the bounce of the game - which is not surprising.

The coaches knew that PSU's offense wasn't scoring more than 17, and played accordingly.  It sucks ass to watch in the moment, but it worked out.  I mean, we all know the only team that can consistently out-Iowa Iowa, is Michigan.

Nice try, Frames, you fucking idiot.

I'll take the heat for continuing to be critical in this thread:

That was not a good offensive game plan. Allowing it to remain a one-score game like that, and effectively sidelining JJ was bad. PSU's offensive woes bailed us out, but I don't want to see anything like that again.

Moore's passion was great, however that doesn't make his play calling infallible.

You and Penn State were both hoping we would pass. We told PSU it was their job to make us pass as we were up 17-9 and they were dead on offense.

PSU never made us pass and we got the W for their failure. Now whatever other way the game couldve gone it could never result in more than a win. Whether or not it entertained you is besides the point.

All the finger wagging, not football understanding, whiners…who for weeks have been wingeing about the lack of a run game, get a dominant run game, against the nation’s best run D, and shockingly…just shockingly…lose their fucking minds and start whining about not passing more.

You people need a psychiatrist, and lots and lots of drugs.

I didn’t necessarily love the super conservative play calling in the second half, but I understood it and they won which is all that matters

In any event, That postgame interview by Moore was amazing!
