Would you take Braxton Miller if he transfers?
One of ESPN's college football analysts was on the radio this morning talking about OSU's QB situation next year. They mentioned the possibility Braxton Miller graduates early and transfers to play somewhere else next year. Would you like to see our next HC go after him?
If all these 70-85% gut feelings are accurate, then we know our next HC has run read option in San Fran. I think Shane and our other QBs have the talent to be good, but I don't know if they would be our best option come late August. I assume we could deal with a Buckeye transferring in since there seemed to not be a large, vocal opposition to Herman in the head coaching posts. Is it worth it to "recruit" Braxton Miller?

No way.

Why? Too much pride? He wins and is good.

I hate heisman trophy contending QBs too...give me more Shane Morris and Russell Bellomy

Yes way.

The one major flaw in the Michigan team for 2015 is the lack of a good experienced QB. JH is good but it is not a miracle worker.
December 24th, 2014 at 12:43 PM ^
Stay your tongue heathen! He shall walk to michigan on the water and heal the program with a touch!
December 24th, 2014 at 12:44 PM ^
to his throwing shoulder and he wasn't a great passer before his first injury. So unless Michigan desperately needs another running back, Michigan doesn't need Braxton Miller.
December 24th, 2014 at 3:14 PM ^
if you don't think Miller is better than any qb at Michigan right now you clearly don't know shit about football.
December 24th, 2014 at 4:04 PM ^
And you sir clearly don't know jack about shoulder injuries. Especially those that have occurred twice in the same spot in less than a year apart
December 25th, 2014 at 2:13 AM ^
I'll take miller with two surgeries than anyone on the roster right now no questioned.
December 25th, 2014 at 2:15 AM ^
you are probably the type that said the bronco's where stupid for taking Peyton (who's surgery, which I've had, is waaayyyyy worse than Millers) a few years back.

Dude, take an English class.
December 24th, 2014 at 4:28 PM ^
Blunt, but absolutely correct.
December 24th, 2014 at 1:19 PM ^
We would be crazy not to recruit Braxton.
Still, I'd be very, very surprised to see Braxton come here. He'd have to be really upset with coaches and teammates to consider such a betrayal.
So if he's merely looking for PT, he's never coming here. If he's trying to stick it to his former team, then anything's possible.
On the off chance it's the latter, we should greet him with open arms and an NFL coach who likes to run read option . . . .
December 24th, 2014 at 12:03 PM ^
If his interest is genuine, why would we not want an instant Heisman-level QB?
December 24th, 2014 at 2:42 PM ^
I don't see why he wouldn't have genuine interest. He presumably wants to play in the NFL. If he goes anywhere else to play football - whether it's Michigan or elsewhere - he would almost certainly be doing it with the best of intentions.

if nothing else it weakens ohio state, what was Barrett's injury?
December 24th, 2014 at 12:44 PM ^
>> what was Barrett's injury?
Broken ankle. Don't know how much hardware they had to put in there to fix it.
December 24th, 2014 at 12:10 PM ^
It would make great revenge for the Justin Boren debacle if nothing else.
December 24th, 2014 at 12:47 PM ^
Yes is the only correct answer.
December 24th, 2014 at 12:01 PM ^
He just going to get injuries anywys

After reading your post, I have no idea what your opinion is on the issue.
December 24th, 2014 at 12:01 PM ^
Nope nope nope. I'll pretend it's because I'm worried about a throwing shoulder that obviously didn't heal right the first time (I am definitely worried), but really...nope nope nope.
December 24th, 2014 at 12:01 PM ^
There's no way he'd come, but I'd take him. He's a great talent.

I'm with you, what would be his interest/motivation in tranfering to UM? Identify the odds-on favorities to play for the Championship next year. His list of suitable schools doesnt extend beyond that group. Why would it?
December 24th, 2014 at 12:38 PM ^
He wants to see what going to class is like?
Cardale Jones'd.
December 24th, 2014 at 1:44 PM ^
He might be closer to a Colin Kaepernik type qb that Harbaugh clearly finds appealing. But I doubt that Miller would ever consider a transfer to his school's arch rival.
The issue about this type of transfer is about academics and whether Michigan offered a graduate course of study he wanted to pursue that isn't offered at Ohio State. If this were a standard transfer, Miller wouldn't be immediately available to Michigan, having to sit out a year before being eligible to play.
Ohio is going to have to figure out how to keep its three qbs interested and competing next year. They have a situation not unlike Michigan's stsrting qb problem with Brady and Henson.
December 25th, 2014 at 9:37 AM ^
Yep, Braxton graduated this semester so he would not have to sit out should he transfer.
It is HIGHLY unlikely he transfers but in the event he does, I there is 0% chance he is permitted to transfer to a conference team, Michigan or otherwise.
I'd bet he'd follow Tom Herman to Houston if anything.
December 24th, 2014 at 12:01 PM ^
Yes, yes, yes, a million times yes. There is no downside of having that great of an athlete on the team when you take him away from your main rival.
December 24th, 2014 at 12:01 PM ^
SHUT YOUR MOUTH!!!!
December 24th, 2014 at 12:02 PM ^
This is pretty much like asking would you sleep with Kate Upton.
Yes, but irrelevant.
December 24th, 2014 at 12:30 PM ^
Yes, it's also like asking if you would take an NFL Superbowl coach to coach Michigan.
Yes, but irrelevant.
Oh, wait . . .
December 24th, 2014 at 12:02 PM ^
He's not going anywhere.
December 24th, 2014 at 12:02 PM ^
No, for his sake. He should be remembered as a great Buckeye QB and not throw away his legacy by joining the enemy.

Boren transferred. Tit for tat.

While true, Boren was not a great Michigan anything, so he had no legacy to tarnish.

Boren's dad was a captain under Bo. There was definitely some legacy to tarnish.

Mike Boren was a f'in disgrace and the real traitor in this mess. Earlier MGoBlog story:
"In fact, the real weirdness was sourced in the Boren family, and the simple story behind Justin's departure from Michigan was his parents' rage when they learned that Justin's younger brother Zach was not getting a sholarship offer from Michigan. Mike and Hope Boren yanked Justin out of school, within days of their learining that Zach was not getting a Michigan scholarship. The story is old now, and despite the fact that no reporters ever seemed to want to touch it, the "famliy values" knock on Rich Rodriguez was inevitably defeated by the truth and the balm of time."
Mike Boren was quoted as saying that he was not going to go to two different schools to watch his 2 sons play and thus yanked Justin out of school and helped propigate the "family values" bs comment. What a disgrace of a "Michigan Man"

I have confidence in Harbaugh being able to develop Morris, Speight or Malzone.
December 24th, 2014 at 12:03 PM ^
I'd take him.
December 24th, 2014 at 12:03 PM ^
Of course you take him. He's a great athlete and is a winner. There is no scandle or dirt atttached to his name besides him being a buckeye so yeah why wouldnt we.

Only if we can call him "Anti-Boren".
December 24th, 2014 at 12:34 PM ^
While I was at Michigan there were 2 kids who transfered to other Big 10 teams. One was Chris forget his last name, xfered to Penn Staye after freshman year and Boren transfered the year I graduated. If you go from on BIG school to another you cant be on scholarship. So not onky did Boren leave UofM he paid Ohio State for attending. Yuck.
December 24th, 2014 at 1:05 PM ^
is this the case for graduate transfers? it's seems like the only stipulation I've ever heard about in these specific situations is that the new school needs to have a masters program that your current school does not
December 24th, 2014 at 9:00 PM ^
I don't believe that restriction even exists any more.
December 24th, 2014 at 12:03 PM ^
I trust our next coach's judgement to make that call. Assuming our next coach ran read option at SF that is.
