Would you take Braxton Miller if he transfers?

Submitted by lilpenny1316 on

One of ESPN's college football analysts was on the radio this morning talking about OSU's QB situation next year.  They mentioned the possibility Braxton Miller graduates early and transfers to play somewhere else next year.  Would you like to see our next HC go after him?

If all these 70-85% gut feelings are accurate, then we know our next HC has run read option in San Fran.  I think Shane and our other QBs have the talent to be good, but I don't know if they would be our best option come late August.  I assume we could deal with a Buckeye transferring in since there seemed to not be a large, vocal opposition to Herman in the head coaching posts.  Is it worth it to "recruit" Braxton Miller?

We would be crazy not to recruit Braxton.

Still, I'd be very, very surprised to see Braxton come here.  He'd have to be really upset with coaches and teammates to consider such a betrayal.

So if he's merely looking for PT, he's never coming here.  If he's trying to stick it to his former team, then anything's possible.

On the off chance it's the latter, we should greet him with open arms and an NFL coach who likes to run read option . . . .

I don't see why he wouldn't have genuine interest. He presumably wants to play in the NFL. If he goes anywhere else to play football - whether it's Michigan or elsewhere - he would almost certainly be doing it with the best of intentions.

Nope nope nope. I'll pretend it's because I'm worried about a throwing shoulder that obviously didn't heal right the first time (I am definitely worried), but really...nope nope nope.

He might be closer to a Colin Kaepernik type qb that Harbaugh clearly finds appealing. But I doubt that Miller would ever consider a transfer to his school's arch rival.

The issue about this type of transfer is about academics and whether Michigan offered a graduate course of study he wanted to pursue that isn't offered at Ohio State. If this were a standard transfer, Miller wouldn't be immediately available to Michigan, having to sit out a year before being eligible to play.

Ohio is going to have to figure out how to keep its three qbs interested and competing next year. They have a situation not unlike Michigan's stsrting qb problem with Brady and Henson.

Yep, Braxton graduated this semester so he would not have to sit out should he transfer.
It is HIGHLY unlikely he transfers but in the event he does, I there is 0% chance he is permitted to transfer to a conference team, Michigan or otherwise.

I'd bet he'd follow Tom Herman to Houston if anything.

Mike Boren was a f'in disgrace and the real traitor in this mess.  Earlier MGoBlog story:

"In fact, the real weirdness was sourced in the Boren family, and the simple story behind Justin's departure from Michigan was his parents' rage when they learned that Justin's younger brother Zach was not getting a sholarship offer from Michigan.  Mike and Hope Boren yanked Justin out of school, within days of their learining that Zach was not getting a Michigan scholarship.  The story is old now, and despite the fact that no reporters ever seemed to want to touch it, the "famliy values" knock on Rich Rodriguez was inevitably defeated by the truth and the balm of time."

Mike Boren was quoted as saying that he was not going to go to two different schools to watch his 2 sons play and thus yanked Justin out of school and helped propigate the "family values" bs comment.  What a disgrace of a "Michigan Man"

While I was at Michigan there were 2 kids who transfered to other Big 10 teams. One was Chris forget his last name, xfered to Penn Staye after freshman year and Boren transfered the year I graduated. If you go from on BIG school to another you cant be on scholarship. So not onky did Boren leave UofM he paid Ohio State for attending. Yuck.
