I've been a Harbaugh fan for 40 years - but he was always just buying time with the contract negotiations - that's not on Warde. If you consider that Warde knew exactly what was coming I'd give him passing marks for playing along and managing the optics fairly well. Coach Harbaugh leaves a conquering hero, the continuity / succession plan is already tested. Change is hard, no need for scapegoats.

That's like having the meth addict outside of the 7/11 complain about people loitering.

The national media…

The national media skepticism and shade in '23 is very much an echo of the way the '97 team was talked about. It was a defense for the ages and yet, though most of the '97 season many of the talking heads treated the Michigan D as a mirage. In their narrative, in a head-to-head match-up, they had Nebraska crushing Michigan.

My fandom started with legends like Dan Dierdorf, Reggie Mckenzie, and Billy Taylor. Lots of dudes over the years. Team 144 is a team for the ages; all dudes.

I started reading when rumors were swirling about a certain WVU coach boarding a private plane bound for Ann Arbor. I created an account and became an infrequent poster somewhere around Brady Hoke's 1st Spring game.

Yes! Anthony Carter's 45-yard touchdown catch and run against Indiana, which clinched a 27–21 victory for Michigan as time expired. Part of the historic nature of that play is the accompanying radio call by Bob Ufer.

As a former resident of Harris County I was always looking for ways to get out of Houston. San Antonio is a 3 hour drive. Galveston Island Is a one hour drive. If you are traveling with school aged children the visitor center at NASA’s astronaut training and flight control complex should be in your itinerary. For adult crowds Houston has country western dance halls that are unlike anything I've seen anywhere else. Before you go to the club check out a Western boot store like Cavender's Boot City. But be forewarned, no matter how much money you drop in that store you will still look like a tourist.

It's a rare freshman that doesn't do the occasional freshman things. Still, very few freshman seasons run this long. If you are still playing in the rarefied air of January are you really a freshman?

In the 80's I lived in South Florida where the media coverage of the Miami Whoricanes was in-depth and year 'round. By comparison Michigan lived under a dome of silence.  I contacted the Ann Arbor News to ask about the sparse coverage. I don't know who I spoke with but he treated me like I was a complete dolt. "Why would anyone be interested in recruiting news or rumors out of practice?"

Why indeed.

Your post just triggered a PTSD flashback of that second half and Young's three touchdowns on runs of 60 yards, 10 yards, and 23 yards.

I hope Coach Harbaugh has a solid alibi. Dime droppers all over Ohio will be dropping Jim's name.

I was at that game sitting amidst a pod of Alabama faithful. That Kolesar TD in the last minute of the game was perfection, I watched it crush souls. Jamie Morris was the real story that day with 3 rushing TD's.

The general vibe around this…

The general vibe around this is stirring up long simmering resentments from two of the darker days in modern UM history. Exhibit 1, 1973, Michigan and Ohio State both finished the regular season undefeated in the Big Ten Conference. Their annual rivalry game ended in a 10-10 tie. Despite this tie and Michigan's strong season, the Big Ten athletic directors voted to send Ohio State to the Rose Bowl instead of Michigan. A day that will live in infamy.

Exhibit 2, January 1, 1979, USC's Charles White clearly fumbled the ball before crossing the goal line, but the officials awarded a touchdown. One of the worst calls on CFB history.

Play angry boys, play angry.

On the bright side, paying 95mil for phone sex, if not a world record, has to be a personal best for Tuck.

They were never going the…

They were never going the fade the heat from this one. I suspect they initially tried to nudge him into an amicable split that might have involved a small severance. Once the USAT article dropped that door closed.

My guess is that MSU…

My guess is that MSU leadership got caught in a game of chicken with Tuck. In the best scenario, he'd resign, in order to spend more time with his family, and the University could focus on "moving-on" without the additional mess of having to fire their coach. Presumably a severance package helps Tuck go quietly into the night. But what if the two sides can't agree on what it will take to get him to leave quietly? What if the Admin is saying 5% of the future value of his contract but Tuck is convinced that he's got the upper hand and demands 50%? Tuck thinks he's sitting pretty with pocket aces because MSU will have to cut a deal before the story gets into the press. And here we are.

Ban the players involved…

Ban the players involved from UM facilities. Ban them for life. If they show up for a future game arrest them for trespassing. Better yet, march in to Lansing next year and continue to expose Mel Tucker.

Former S. Florida resident…

Former S. Florida resident and employee of the "U". Miami doesn't have a real fanbase, just a nation of bandwagon trolls. Lose a few games early and the season is effectively over in Miami, so no great redemption stories for Gattis. The fanbase is done with him.

Miami will be lucky if they sell 35K seats for the North Carolina game. I expect to see a bunch of bewildered looking Venezuelan migrants in the stands at the next game.

In 1985, I walked into a noon meeting at the Alano club in Ann Arbor and I've managed to not drink for 13,750 days (according to this app on my phone). Since then I have raised a family, put 4 kids though college,  cobbled together a professional career, and I've experienced all the highs and lows of an ordinary life.   For me total abstinence is the only way. I don't imagine for an instant that what is right for me is the right thing for you. Just know that if you truly desire sobriety, but it eludes you,  there are plenty of people like me that have found a way. It can be done.

I was an Army MP at Ft Hood, TX in the early 80's. The kitchen at the main dining facility operated over night doing the baking for all of the dining facilities. That was the only game in town for the graveyard shift. I can vouch for the relationship between the po-po and doughnuts.

I own an EV and I follow the issue closely. I see a lot of concern with calculating the full lifecycle cost of an EV but I'm not seeing similar attempts to calculate the real lifecycle costs of ICE vehicles and the externalities associated with fossil fuels.

Using an online EV cost calculator, one that even factored in what time of day I'm most likely to charge, it indicated that my Ford Mach-e has an impact equivalent to 88mpg. Also, lots of evidence coming online that @ 8 years there's significant life left in a properly maintained battery.

You are giving off a strong… You are giving off a strong Columbus, OH vibe.
I can accept that on paper…

I can accept that on paper UGA is bigger, faster, and stronger. OSU held that same advantage. A brilliant game plan schemed away the OSU advantage. Did Alabama out-scheme UGA or merely out-play them? If UGA was beat with X's and O's does Michigan have the personnel to exploit that same plan? Different plan?

If I'm the Notre Dame AD I grant Kelly those 2 minutes as a professional courtesy and then he's persona non grata.  Was Kelly supposed to stand before the team and tell them how hard it was to take the 95 million?

I read that a different way…

I read that a different way. By not naming an interim they build distance between the permanent position and whatever happens in the post-season. That could as be seen as working in Freeman's favor.

Tecumseh, MI is the place for you. Lots of lakes. Close to Toledo without being so close that family casually turns into a nuisance. I left Ann Arbor for the military and spent most of my adult life living at least 1500 miles from "home". Good luck.

The last few years I watched…

The last few years I watched how Indiana fielded a team that seemed genuinely excited for the game. That spark was missing from Michigan, last year especially. Talent and execution matters but I'm most excited for the change in tone and temperature. There's an obvious difference through two games.

I used to work as a …

I used to work as a 'behavior specialist' in schools with large at-risk populations. School administrators are adept at trying to navigate the path of least resistance. I was in a meeting once where I heard one of the best lines ever. The parents' were getting a run-around from the school when the mother leaned forward and said, "there's someone missing from this meeting". There was a moment of silence as the Principal and VP looked around, then looked at each other clearly at a loss as to who was missing. Then the mother stood up, gathered up her stuff, and coldly said, "it's my lawyer, my lawyer is missing from this meeting". And out she walked.

They literally scurried after her in a panic and the entire power dynamic shifted from that point forward. Bottom line, keep your cool but let them know that this isn't going away quietly. Lose your cool and they have the upper hand - they make a living dealing with tantrums. Their greatest fear is that things will make it to their superiors or the school board. Make it your business to make sure that this issue gets raised to the right level for resolution.
