Week 3: Best thing you saw...

Submitted by mi93 on

What a day.  So many things.  From the heart of Bison (in a win we should all expect from them by now) and Panthers (even in a loss), to the Broncos being the best B1G team in Illinois, to a reminder that it's a long game and you don't panic in the first quarter, even down to TDs.

For me, though, the best thing today was Lamar Jackson and Loiusville.  Holy smokes they look like the real deal and as much I'd like to see Peppers hold the Heisman, Jackson seems like Vince Young, but fast.  The Cards nearly covered the Over by themselves.

What you got?

Michigan responded to adversity and that's what good teams do they adjust and keep going! Louisville is a pretty damn good team. Ohio St doesn't seem to have missed a beat. Nd not very good although I'm not thinking Oklahoma is as good either. Everyone said Texas is back. I never did and Cal beat them. Hokes Defense doesnt seem to be doing very good either. USC should've held out got a better coach.

Best thing: Michigan's defense turning into the QB eating machine as advertised after the second quarter.

Best (worst?) non-Michigan thing: Why do guys keep dropping the ball at the 1?

I do really like how this team responded to adversity. Colorado came out and punched them in the mouth. Hard. But they didn't wither or panic. The defense made some adjustments, got a break with the QB change, and took care of business. But CU was impressive yesterday. They can make some serious noise in the Pac-12 this year if they get their QB back and clean up the special teams play.

That being said, MSU and OSU looking the way they did is slightly discouraging. I don't know how much of those wins is a product of OU and Notre Dame not being that good, but both MSU and OSU took care of business in very impressive fashion. We're going to have a war on our hands with Sparty once again, and if we do not grow up very quickly on the defensive side of the ball, then OSU will once again have an absolute field day with us.

Other than that, I will saw that Lamar Jackson is the real deal. Kid is easily the Heisman front runner right now. Made FSU look baddddd yesterday. Really bad.

Its funny how there isnt one mention of how petrino was fired from louisville due to him sleeping around with female staff and crashing his bike... just shows how winning is the cureall for all things stupid.

Best Michigan thing - the response to the first quarter.  I think Speight was 3/12 in the first, and finished something like 13/18 the rest of the way (16/30 for the game).  His elbow was hurt on the fumble, which is why we saw Morris and O'Korn in early.  He toughed it out and played a great game from there on!  I really don't get why a lot of snowflakes are down on him, I thought he responded to adversity and played a great game.

That catch...  Whooo boy!  That was a good one, despite the team it was for.  Oklahoma pretty much sucks...

But I don't think MSU played especially well.  They looked pretty average to me, just that ND's defense was pretty much non-existant.

USC is a dumpster fire that bodes well for Michigan recruiting.  The wrong coach can destroy a team, as we well know.  And Helton is the wrong coach.  I'm really surprised that Pat Haden was around long enough to make yet another bad coaching choice!

Congrats to both NDSU (who I really thought would win) and Nebraska (who I didn't think would even keep it close).

time he touched the football he did something effective and electrifying.  Plus he layed the wood a few times.  Also liked Michigan's response to adversity.  There was no panic yesterday, but a lot of resolve.

I don't know why but I think blocking a kick and returning it for a TD might be the most exciting way to score. It really gave me a buzz at a time when things looked pretty bad.

Second best was our continuing strong special teams play. They are impacting games. Observation: UM and OSU are proving that great coaching can build strong teams with young inexperienced players.

to see.  We'll be fine.  The most amazing thing was Antonio Brown's one-handed catch on the back of the OU player was just sick (as much as it pains me to type that).

Honorable mention goes to Lamar Jackson of Louisville, that young man is crazy fast and good.  It won't translate at the next level at QB, but oh my, he's Denard with height and passing skills

My favorite thing was Peppers running into Liufau (and trainers) at the end of the return that set up Smith's touchdown (54 seconds in). Check out the faces on the Colorado bench.  If it hasn't been made a candidate for the gif of the week, it should be.  Much laughter can be had here.

I thought the game of catche between Harbaugh and Brady was pretty awesome.  Harbaugh said later he was sorry he gave Brady the wind.  The guy competes in EVERYTHING!!!
