- Vacated 111 wins from Paterno's record - This is the only thing directly affecting Paterno and it was his legacy.

While the phrase my be widely accepted slang, I don't think it has a place in commentary from public/popular figures. I do think the NBA was probably a little aggressive with the fine as 75k seems like a lot for that comment. However, with the recent attention Jason Collins received, I think the NBA had to send a message and Hibbert is the one that has to bend over and take it. |
| 2 weeks 5 days ago | Shouldn't they be suing PSU |
Shouldn't they be suing PSU instead of the NCAA? I mean PSU agreed to accept the Freeh report and the sanctions the NCAA wanted to levy as a result. Amongst the sanctions:
So it all really comes down to Paterno's legacy? Sure there might be financial losses post-death due to a devaluation in his estate via brand/marketing/etc..., but I think the crux of their complaint has to be defamation of character. I think Sandusky's wife and Paterno's wife just need to accept the men they married were the men they married - human with flaws just like everyone else. While I can't really say I feel sorry for PSU as a whole - they really need to just move on. The outside influence of the Paternos to mar the image of PSU is staggering, and I think it shows just how the Sandusky incident unfolded - by pride and power of Joe Paterno aqnd the influence of football over common sense. Unfortunately, that lack of humility and self-rightousness has spilled over into his estate after his death. Their lawsuit is based on the negative impact the Freeh report had on their legacy and estate. What they don't seem to realize is they are damaging the Paterno name and legacy more than the Freeh report ever could have by simply not letting it go and/or using this as opportunity to accept responsibilty and heal the community. |

| 10 weeks 6 days ago | I know what my eyes showed |
I know what my eyes showed me. The video tape didn't lie. There is no place for physical assault in college coaching. Yes, it is assault. Go to a mall and yell obscenities at strangers and throw stuff at their heads. See where you end up. Change the scenario... If this was a high school basketball practice, the guy is fired immediately. The parents show up with pitch forks. The sheriffs show up with handcuffs - assaulting a minor - yeah some kids parents would go there. How dare he do that to "kids"?!? Scenario B... If this was a pro basketball practice, the guy is fired immediately. Because A) Kobe tells the GM to fire him or B) Sprewell chokes the shit out of him. There is no way a GM lets that fly. You have to keep your prima donnas happy. Seriously as a coach would you throw a ball at Ron Artest's head? No. Why? Because that dude is crazy and you'd probably get your ass kicked. So, it doesn't fly in high school or the pros (for albeit different reasons), but its a small infraction (3 games and counseling) in college where the kids look more like adults, but are still really are kids and won't fight back. The AD basically said "oops my bad" in not firing him in the first place. "oops my bad" doesn't cut it when it comes to the safety of "kids" - just ask Penn State. |
| 10 weeks 6 days ago | He was defending his choice |
He was defending his choice to retain Rice with the actions he took in the fall for a day. Then the heat got a little hot as the media exposure swelled. He only fired him because 99.9% of people with common sense thought he should be fired. He only backed down on his stance when it became public. This shows the AD is 1) indecisive 2) has a poor moral compass 3) spineless and wouldn't stand behind his decision etc... The AD is a position of leadership, and he has displayed none of the qualities I demand from people in those positions. |

Agreed the AD should go as well. Not firing him last fall - wrong. Hedging for a day when the video became public yesterday - wrong. He should be shown the door... |

Awesome news! This kid has made a huge improvement over the season (especially the last 2-3 weeks). Besides having natural athletic ability, size, etc... he has an amazing motor. He's destined for the lottery though if the last 2-3 weeks are any indication. |

Guy is a bully plain and simple. Firing a ball at an unsuspecting player's head from point blank range (behind them as well) is not tough love or coaching - its bullying. He should be fired on the spot by the AD. |

As a Butler Alum, I watched a lot of A10 games this year (particularly VCU, SLU, & Butler). VCU's havoc D is more an important part of their Offense. They score well off the turnovers they generate in the press. They have good on the ball defenders, and while breaking down the full court press give opponents plenty of break opportunities, they are actually very good at rotating back and playing D in the half court. A primariy weakness is they can struggle in their halfcourt offense. If a team doesn't turn the ball over and limits their fastbreaks, its almost a guaranteed loss for VCU if the opponent has anything resembling an efficient offense. SLU pretty much dominated VCU with solid D and efficient O. I'll absolutely shocked if Burke and Co struggle with the pressure. The real challenge will be consistent O since lots of D rebounds gives VCU break opportunities. Also, the UM bigs will handle the ball more than usual, and do not underestimate VCU's ability to double down in the post to generate steals. They have extremely quick hands on D. We'll know after the first 5 minutes whether or not tomorrow is a drinking early and often day.... |

Good for Thad! I worked for him at Butler when he was an assistant coach and the BB team's academic liason. He was a great guy and he's a good coach. And I have met my quota of "saying something nice about Ohio" for 2013. |

Wonder which coach will become nationally known as the "are we there yet" coach? You also have to wonder if staffing payrolls will open up to digital "telemarketers"? Pay some grad student to just spam twitter, facebook, instagram, etc... all day long... Here's looking at you Lane Kiffin |

Seriously.... You have Peyton Manning and all you need is a first down on 3rtd & 7... hand off and punt? Then you have 30 secs and 2 timeouts only needing about 45yds for a FG chance with Peyton Manning... take a knee? Now Baltimore wins the OT toin coss... Manning will never even get another chance to win this game... |
