I have to say I was surprised FSU suspended him at all - let alone against Clemson with a repeat NC on the ine. Yes, it was only a half, but they are saying are saying winning a NC is not THAT important that we turn a blind eye. Yes its only a half, but they didn't have to do anything considering his past and what goes on in college as far as shennanigans.
Come on everyone! We're going streaking in the Quad!!! I mean college is meant for saying and doing stupid stuff - harmless stupid stuff. Standing up and saying something obnoxious isn't harmful to anyone but Jameis himself (draft stock plummeting lol). An easy way for FSU to handle this would have been to have him run bleachers until he puked, but they suspended him for a huge game - half of a game.
The scary thing for Jameis at least is the pattern of absolute moronic decisions. Making a mistake happens. Keep making the same stupid mistake - flashing warning sign - DANGER! He said he wasn't going to be Johnny Football. Well kudos Jameis - you're waaay worse than Johnny Football was from a bad decision standpoint. HINT: Next time get paid $50k for standing up and yelling that... Jeesh...

That's depressing, but looking at the bright side... The B1G has how many NFL starters at QB this weekend?
The 4 Spartys, 2 UM (Henne & Brady), 1 Wisky (R Wilson), 1 Purdue (Brees), anybody know of anymore? That's 8 of 32 or 25% of NFL starting QBs from the B1G.

This game scared me before the season and the way we've been turning the ball over, I'm not so confident going into this game. I think the consensus that its an even match up is pretty spot on. I think our tendancy to turn the ball over and inconsistent play (or consistentlyplaying down compared to our talent level) makes this a dangerous game.
HOWEVER, this game could be the game where we turn the corner and start playing like a team determined to win the B1G championship. The talent is there - we just have to put it all together. This weekend is the perfect opportunity to gain some much needed confidence for Gardner, RBs, OL, CBs, etc... Eliminate the mental mistakes and start dropping the hammer on people.

The running game is improved over last year. Last year we couldn't run the ball at all - against anyone on the schedule. Most plays were rushes for -1/-2 yards. At least this year, it seems even poor running plays are +1/+2 yards. Yeah, we haven't played anyone great yet, but still we seem to be falling forward instead of getting knocked backward. Considering how young the OL is I think its positive improvement. Green improved yesterday as well. Vision improved - he saw and hit holes. And a few times, he had some YAC which was non-existant before. Overall, I felt some positive mojo coming from the running game and we're going to need it to continue improving this season.

It was probably the best part of the game for me. It brought back memories of those tough UM teams. He wasn't blatantly homerish. He showed great knowledge of the game from all aspects. He was on top of the action while providing filler as needed. He was critical without it being token negativity. Overall, great great start for him. Really proud of him. :)
The bit with Braylon was great too. I always thought Braylon had one of those personas made for TV or maybe its just "diva-ish" WRs that all seem that way. I hope he gets a shot in TV too.

Is it 3:30 yet?.... Geesh today's slate feels like an opening weekend. Lots of intriguing match-ups if both teams were at traditional levels (i.e. Okla vs Tenn, UCLA vs Tex, etc..).... But damn I'm pounding coffee and powering through these blowouts to get to the UM game which may make me cry or not... At least we don't have Utah this weekend...

At first when I just read the charges, I thought to myself oh boy here we go again - a parent getting in trouble for disciplining their kid. I mean my parents whipped my ass just like most of you have stated. Go pick out the tree branch yourself and prepare yourself.
HOWEVER, the pictures tell a totally different story. I was evil little bastard growing up and got (and deserved) some amazing ass whoopings. BUT, I never had open wounds weeks later from the "beating". The worst I ever got it was with an extension cord. I couldn't sit for dinner, but I didn't need to visit an ER either. And, I didn't have open wounds that day nor a week later.
This will probably not end very well for AP. The pictures tell a story of waaaay too much force being used against a 4 year old. I know we need to let the legal system sort things out, but those pictures are bad - really bad for AP's case. I just hope the kid is ok and doesn't get dragged into the media. He's obviously suffered enough as is.

As a Star Wars kid myself, I think this is awesome, and I'll be buying up some UM Vader gear! Everyone that knows me knows that I love two things: UM Football and Star Wars. I mean my nickname at work is "Wookiee" (I'm really tall, long hair, occasionally a beard, and huge Star Wars nerd). This is about as close to "pure win" as it can get for me. :D

Trolls are difficult business for new adventurers. They regenerate and can only be killed by fire. Always best to carry a torch or travel with a wizard who learn fire spells while traversing Troll country. Wealthy adventurers can also carry various potions or alchemical concoctions to finish off a Troll.

I think he can identify talent and has the persona to pull in the highly rated classes as he's done the last few years. The problem is when the kids arrive on campus. Its either a coaching issue, a S&C issue, or both. I see lots of bad technique all over the field - pad level on O/D lines, corners not looking back for the ball, blown lane assignments, missing cutback lanes, etc....
I don't think there is a lack of talent on the roster.... Now how the talent is utilized or coached up, well that might be the problem. Yes, Devin had a TO fest against ND, but he's whirly twirly in the pocket anymore, he's stepping up. Reason? Nuss is teaching him the right way.

Here's whats going to happen. We'll come out next week and truck Miami (not that Miami). We'll pat ourselves on the back and sing the praises of the players and coaches. Then the following week Utah will come in and kick us in the teeth. We'll be back to dumpster fire mode. Fire this person. Bench that player. We'll go into East Lansing and Columbus and get rolled.
We'll finish the season 7-5 or 6-6. We'll get invited to some close "New Year's Day" bowl where we'll get paired with a ranked SEC team. We'll get embarassed again because we are a bunch of self-entitled wannabes that sell tickets. We'll moan and groan thinking we should be in the top 10 every year. We're Michigan - we're better than this.
Yes, we are Michigan and that means we are a mediocre, irrelevant team in a piss poor conference. We recruit well and sell our brand with the best of them, but the product on the field hasn't been remotely good in almost a decade.
Oh but wait, what about 2011? Well, we need to stop fooling ourselves. We barely beat a 6-7 Ohio team. We needed a miracle to beat ND under the lights. Then honestly how in the world VaTech let us beat them in the Sugar Bowl is beyond me. They literally kicked our asses all damn night and still found a way to lose. That 11-2 season was an fluke abberation. We were a 7-5 ish team that year too.
How do we support the team going forward? We show up. We watch the game. We bitch when we lose. We boast when we win. And, we keep fooling ourselves into believing any of this really matters beyond entertainment value in a world where people are dying of cancer and disease. A world where innocent people are murdered/beheaded.
Maybe we go forward by realizing its just a damn game played by kids. We cheer them on or boo them if you're so inclined, but for the love of Bo, its just a damn game. A damn game that we're not very good at right now, but who really gives two shits about it in the big picture of life.

This noon slate reminds me of the typical week 1 noon slot games. I settled in on the McNeese St @ NEB game as it seems like it might be competitive at 14-7 NEB.
PS - I hate it when all the good games are in the same-ish time slot. Really want to watch Sparty out west and the Hokies in the horseshoe too. I guess its a good thing I don't like Nascar lol...
|1 week 5 days ago||Yeah man it was brutal||
Yeah man it was brutal growing up around SB when we lost to them. And, from our proximity perspective, I rate the rivalries the same as you. The 2nd favorite team "anyone playing ND" was also why I started buying shirts of the teams they lost to just to wear to school on Mondays unless it was Sparty..
|1 week 5 days ago||I grew up about 30 minutes or||
I grew up about 30 minutes or so from ND's campus. Everyone in my neighborhood and school were insufferable Irish fans. My first college football game was a Michigan game when I was like 12 yrs old. I was instantly a fan for life. So, while most people here hate Sparty and Ohio like no other, I had to suffer through the holier than thou Irish fans, Tony f'ing Rice, Tim f'ing Brown, oh $#(@$ Rocket Ismail and so on...
So to me Notre Dame and the rivalry has always been the game on the schedule we had to win otherwise suffer through a year of Irish bullshit. I don't just want to beat them - I want to beat them badly. I want to crush them like 2007. I want them to crawl into their pseudo-ACC hole and die a miserable death of mediocrity and decline into complete and total obscurity for the next decade or two. Or meet them in the playoffs and put another 2007 on them.
So I hate Notre Dame, and the rivalry ending means I/We/The Team has no way to put them in their place after this season unless we meet in the playoff. Die Fig Things DIe... :D

Smith seemed to read the blocks a little better and has that natural fall forward attribute. Green badly misread a block/hole/cutback early in the game, but I also attribute that to getting comfortable with his linemen in game settings. He never really missed a read after that (at least I didn't notice). I think who starts is moot though. They will both likely share carries throughout the season unless one of them really starts separate themself from the other.
Ideally, you'd want two starting running backs - thunder and lightning. Right now we just have thunder and thunder with an occasional lightning from Norfleet on a jet sweep.
