UM -MSU 3:30 kickoff on Saturday........on BTN
Source?? Or did you hear it on tv?
State is...not us
@umichfootball: Confirmed: Michigan vs. Michigan State will kickoff at 3:30 p.m on Saturday, Oct. 20 on the Big Ten Network.
Little surprised that it is BTN, but if true I am actually happy since I won't get "bonus coverage" of a game that I could not possibly care less about and miss a 1/4 of the game that I wanted to watch. I don't care what the score is, I want to watch the whole game - there was some guys getting PT in the 4th quarter that I really wanted to watch. Enough of my rant, it is in the past....Beat State!!!
No, your rant was not long enough. I was so pissed off when they went to the HS game that was BYU-OSU for "Bonus Coverage". I almost lost my mind. Someone write a letter, I'm too busy/lazy.
Probably figured a national audience would get tired of watching MSU punt
surprising to have it on that channel..does anyone know where to find replay of yesterdays game? firstrowsports didn't work for me
I had 3 diffferent links that worked there.
Well that sucks. As someone not in the Big10 footprint, I hate having to watch online streams of big games. Sigh...
I'm in the same boat. I guess ESPN is looking at the liklihood of another lopsided victory for Michigan against a crappy opponent and doesn't want viewers tuning out for the last half of the game.
On the east coast (NYC), the Illinois v. Michigan game was on ESPN and they showed the entire fourth quarter. I have it on DVR. How can I upload it for you guys?
I am in NYC and I have btn on time warner cable. IT's 5 dollars a month. I would get it and cancelled after the game. They might pro-rata the day.
I wasn't expecting ABC but I thought ESPN or ESPN2 for sure.
BTN announcers suck. Had MSU won today, maybe our game would have been on ESPN.
ABC/ESPN can cut your game short (see today)...BTN will not.
Doesn't the BTN get a pick over ESPN like once or twice a year? This may have been that after ABC passed on it.
The lone advantage, yes. Although I was able to watch the entire Illinois game on ABC since I live in southeast Michigan. The game was also available on ESPN for me.
But as long as Chris Martin is not in the booth I will be happy.
I like Jibreel but I HATE 'double nickel'
Wow that sucks. B1G networks is awful. Still don't know why there pregame show with those two assclowns (Dinardo especially) Don't travel to the top Big Ten game of that week.
I'm ok with this. I think people are dinging Michigan a bit too much for two losses to top-ten teams, but MSU's season is basically over after this game whatever happens. Our Illinois game really didn't deserve the ABC footprint.
yeah i couldnt figure it out. it works when it wants to. the stream on firstrow is pretty legit. as clear as tv. here we go tigers. two more outs
On the bright side, we likely have a lot more games to watch because of the network. For those of you not in the area, I feel your pain. I don't have the NFL network, and I miss a lot of Thursday games. With that said, I wouldn't switch places. As the network gets older, it will grow in exposure.
I like noon games on not the BTN. I am disappoint.
It must be some pretty damn good games coming on the ESPN network of channels at that time slot. The B10 network is very successful. Get some legit analyst/announcers already.
Way to fucking go...Sparty!
Nooooo! I was really hoping for a noon kick these later games are getting old, or maybe I am.
I've had it with this shit! Long story made short, I live in rural Alaska, can only get tv on DISH, can only access their northernmost satellite which DOES NOT CARRY THE BTN. FUCK, FUCK &FUCK THIS FUCKIN SHIT!
You got fuckin nature. Nature!
You should just be thankful the polar bear in the F-16 hasn't blown up that Satellite, yet.
in rural Alaska either where broadband speed is slower than a fuckin limping turtle.
have you ever met the alaska state troopers? They're so cool
While I do agree that some of the previous games this year should've been noon, I am VERY glad to see this one be 3:30. It gives the fans time to tailgate, creates a better atmosphere, and ensures the stadium will be packed and rocking early.
So, I'm getting old. I understand several evening games, and several late afternoon games.
But come on.
- 3 Night games. (Bama, ND, Nebraska.)
- 5 Late afternoon games. (AFA, Mass, Purdue, Illinois, MSU.)
- 1 noon game (Ohio.)
- 3 still unknown (Minnesota, NW, Iowa.)
We could end up with zero noon starts in Ann Arbor, and only one all year. Do all the students and locals prefer these late starts? I don't mind several. But ideally, I'd like more balance. 2 - 3 night games, and 3 - 4 late afternoon games, and 5 - 7 noon games, would work a lot better for me.
Also, I don't like that TV holds us hostage until just before the game, in the case of MSU, until only 1 week before the game.
"Get off my lawn, punks!"
I don't like noon starts - hampers tailgaiting.
Should start at 1:00 PM every Saturday, just as God intended when He invented college football.
Feels like I've posted this 24885921 times on here, but Michigan does start games past Noon in November at home.
It's been like that since Bo declared after a game in the 80s ended when it was pitch black out.
The 2011 revisions are important:
"And on the sixth day, Brandon said: 'let there be light;' and thereafter, all were cold on late-November evenings."
#Michiganfootballproblems. Be glad, we dont have Thursday or Friday games
I known that most on here will disagree bit I actually like the BTN for 3:30 games. No threat of missing the openin plays because of some crappy game going into OT. Also, while the coverage is not amazing, is it that much worse than hearing about warm apple cider on ESPN?
Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Don't you knock the Dexter Cider Mill. That is some excellent cider.
I do too.. As long as I can get home In time to watch the game after work, as most places in Miami don't carry BTN...
Response of the day was "...It's fifty degrees outside!" when he was talking about the warm cider. I lost it.
What was even worse was the banter about it being typical Big Ten weather in October, when the typical weather may be cool, but the sky looks like the intro. to the Simpsons: bright blue with big fluffy white clouds and lots of sunshine.
I don't understand this. Maybe it's just the lunatic I am, but I like Noon starts since I'm a nervous wreck before every game no matter the opponent. Like getting the win early, and then I can tailgate and not have a blank stare on face the whole time thinking about the game.
This is me too
The BTN gets to jump jump ESPN on the pick of games twice a year within a certain number of weeks of the season. I am guessing they used the jump this week.
I'm certain that they exist, but couldn't find any. Does anyone know of shuttles that go btwn Detroit (city, not airport) and Ann Arbor for games?
As for the city of Detroit, there's this http://www.amazingbluetaxi.com/flat-rates/michigan-cities/ - their flat rate from downtown Detroit to Ann Arbor is $100, but above their schedule for major Michigan cities. I think that you can get the minivan (if you're going with a group) with a reservation for the same rate.
http://annarbormetroshuttle.com/ - This might be worth checking out if you decide to go to the game straight from Metro. It's pricey but people seem to enjoy this service. I think they also pick up at the nearby hotels as well, or at least, being a Romulus resident, I have seen them apparently do that. A vast majority of the services that I am aware of tend to go between Ann Arbor and Metro sadly, with a patchwork of taxi companies working beyond this.
As for purpose of the OP and the game being on at 3:30 on BTN, that is a little surprising that this fell to third-tier, but then the remaining TBA games are SEC and Big 12 games, so over at ESPN / ABC, the love affair continues apparently.
lol at this being a love affair with the sec and big 12, state is bad this year, even in a good year nobody outside the state of michigan cares about this game because nobody outside the state of michigan cares about state. Its all about ratings and this game would get shit ratings nationally.
This year, it likely is a combination of State getting typically inferior ratings to Michigan, their 4-3 record in a conference not being exactly praised in the national media and other items, but the Big Ten typically ranks in the top three in the Nielsen ratings among conferences (2nd last season) for viewership in football (the SEC is first, of course). As we were on ESPN last year and ABC the year before that, it's just interesting that it went from a first-tier pick to third-tier in one year - that probably is an indictment on what sort of ratings they believe this year's game would get. Indeed, if a Big Ten game isn't on BTN as we are, it looks like it might end up on ESPNU this week as things begin to fill in here.
Now, how can you possibly be right about nobody outside MI caring about MSU when their coach says they're a national recruiting power? I mean, something seems a bit contradictory there, but maybe it's just me.
so my brother is hosting a party for this...he don't have cable, how reliable is btn2go? I'll prolly let him use my btn2go and prolly will have to supply a computer to hook it to the tv.
Cheers to your brother for the effort but maybe he should think about moving the party to somewhere that has cable or maybe he invests in cable or satellite... I don't know too many people who would go to a party to watch it streaming on a computer as unreliable as that btn2go app is,
... just sayin' ...
I've used BTN2go and it works well, but I would never ever center a party around an Internet stream of any kind. Just too dodgy.
Perhaps this says more about the state of the Big10 than anything else.
Well, this sucks. I'm on an airplane Saturday right in the middle of the game. No BTN, ergo no DVR. Any way for me to start a firstrowsports (or other) stream at the beginning when I get home at 5?
Bo would be very upset about all of these 3:30 starts. For the love of God, the game played at Noon will be when they are forced to play at noon. November.
Just kick these assholes up and down the field Saturday and I'll be fine.
I think the important thing to ask is if the game is being broadcast on that Eurostream. BTN announcers make me angar, but that guy is like a whale biologist: he calls 'em like he sees 'em. I'd rather listen to him while watching the game.
We're undefeated thus far in 3.30 games, so there's that. Seriously though, for more obsessive fans than I - is this the latest we've ever gone in a season with no 12.00 starting games?
Living in California I don't have the btn so does anyone know of any safe online sites I could watch the game on?
Sign up with AT&T U-Verse... They have the Big Ten Net
To everybody in Michigan... sorry, but I am thrilled. 9 AM starts on the West Coast are no fun.
