Thursday Drinking Thread

Figured it's 5 o'clockish and might as well start the drinking thread.

I'm taking the train from DC to Chicago tonight thru 8:45 tomorrow morning because what the hell I need to use some of these Amtrak points.

Decided to go very basic with my cooler of brew: 9 pack of Miller 16 oz. screw tops. Will be switching beverage of choice in a little once I see what's available in the cafe car. What're y'all drinking tonight?

Off topic but I got my wisdom teeth taken out by former Michigan tight end Norman Betts yesterday. Considering I'm in no pain right now, I would say he did a good job.

Next time you see him, tell him I'm still ticked he dropped what would have been the winning TD pass in the end zone down in West Lafayette in 1979. I was sitting in the visiting section at one of the end zones and had a clear view of him as he initially caught Dickey or Wangler's pass, and then coughed up the ball when a Purdue DB popped him.

The Acela from DC to NY usually has Dogfish Head 90 minute and Sam Adams, in addition to the usual mega brews.

I'm in a post-anaesthesia state so I'm not supposed to be drinking the bottle of Foley pinot noir I'm looking at right now.

Good call. It's usually Dogfish or Fat Tire for me on the Acela, unless I'm lucky enough to have a first-class upgrade, then it's as many bourbons as I can get thru before we're back.

I'm interested to see if there's any Midwest based brews on this train considering we're heading to Chicago.

One of the people that I supervise brought in a lovely carrot cake for a belated birthday treat this morning, so that was a pleasant surprise and I will have to repay everyone with subs or pizza in the near future. Not a big deal when you can reconcile the expense under "teambuilding activity", right? Anyway, that made an otherwise stressful day for me.

To help, I've come home and am now on the second pint of Guinness Extra Stout and currently trying to convince my daughter that there are other shows that aren't "Victorious" or "Sam & Cat".

This was my coworkers exact reaction to this evening's plans haha.

In my defense (not that it's needed because who doesn't want to be on a train 16+ hours?), I have a best friend's bachelor party waiting as a reward and the flights out of Reagan were all $500+ if I didn't want to waste my day off in the airport waiting on connections. I have a nonstop flight back on Sunday because I'm not a masochist.

Just got back from the best dinner in my life. Romantic little Italian fine dining in the Latin Quarter of Paris. 6 course meal and some of the best wine I've ever had.

I won't be drinking tonight because we're filming a commercial at my house tomorrow (of which I will be the focus) for George Foreman's new company, and The Champ himself will be there so I need to be on my game.

I'm not sure where all it will play, but I know it's "nationwide" whatever that means.  They're doing two versions of it - one that we're filming inside that will air in the fall, and another that we're filming out back by the pool that will air during March Madness to get people geared up for grilling season.  His new venture is a mail order meat company, similar to Omaha Steaks, if you're familiar with that.  His has more already-seasoned meats and side dishes, like marinated chicken breasts, bacon wrapped hot dogs, etc.

I hope it airs in GR since that's where I'm from so my parents and friends from home can see it.

I won't be the only non-George Foreman in the commercial, as their doing a similar thing with two other people.  I think I'll be the only guy who speaks, though.

Which is a name I made up for Bombay Sapphire with fresh squeezed lemon and lime juice. Going to have a couple of those. Why? Because fuck it! That's why.

Is that a good combo?  Because I have Bombay Sapphire in my freezer right now and a lemon tree in my back yard.  Well, technically it's my neighbor's lemon tree, but like half of it is on my side of the wall, so I have half a lemon tree.  But my half has lemons and that's all that matters.

I had been boycotting it since it dropped from a 6 pack to a 4 pack while the price remained the same............  but it's too damn good to stay mad at forever.

Took the train from DC to South Bend once for a wedding with my wife.  By the time we arrived were were ready to kill each other.  Good luck.

I am quitting my job tonight at 11, afterwords I will be enjoying some Founders.

I'm in the process of dreaming big, and working for some shithole company just isn't going to cut it anymore.

First bud light ever. I drink craft beer, so here is my review.

Super carbonated, but refreshing. Mouth is super light. Taste - stale hops, and crackers. Smell - same.

Overall- I can see why people enjoy it on hot days, but after drinking absolute hop assaulting beers, it doesn't taste like much. Are there any better tasting offerings?

I just got offered a job in Phoenix which means I have the opportunity to see my biological father I haven't seen in over 15 years AND leave Columbus.

Big change, but I accepted.

Cheers. Let's go to Arizona.
