Summer OT: What sites besides mgoblog do you visit daily?
I'll start, in approx. order of how frequently I visit:
-mgoblog
-TD Ameritrade (I have a modest amount of $ that I trade)
-my general news feed collector in yahoo
-Collider (entertainment news and reviews)
-WSJ and NYT
-Detroit News sports
Like anyone, there are many others I visit, but not daily. I've heard that porn is big on the internet but I wouldn't know too much about that :). Also FB but not not daily.
How about you?
FB, twitter, Yahoo finacial/news, TD Ameritrade, drudge, on line banking, www.weather.gov, work and personal email. But probably this site see's my most frequent visits.
I'll have to check it out. Any reason why you go there over weather.com or accuweather
and they issue all the warnings! Just seems more accurate forecasts than accuwx. You can find your local office or if you are on the road you can view an office where you are traveling to.
Best weather site I have ever used and I believe it has some Ann Arbor and UofM roots in it's founders.
Just for purposes of full understanding, Weather Channel, Weather Underground and Intellicast are the same company.
for weather, love the link to local river level data because I'm a kayaker.
wtka.com for podcasts to supplement mgoblog MI data.
Online broker site for all of my investment data.
detnews.com for local sports.
gmail.com for all email correspondence.
Mgoblog.com for best MI data

Doc, you have a certain political bent but you really should balance your content. I read news feeds published by organization with content that I don't agree with.
Foxnews although loathed by many is also watched by many. I don't watch it for the simple fact that I haven't had cable in 10 years. I do make it a point to read others point of view so I can learn and then also understand where they are coming from.

What is a site? Are there more places similar to Mgoblog that will show up on my computer screen?
The Big Lead - great sports stuff; the AM roundup is excellent. WSJ - best news feeds for business and global politics. Fidelity - gotta track the funds CNN Detroit News - local sports
ESPN
Gmail
Ctools during the school year
Science Direct right now for my research
Pandora
That's probably it for daily. YouTube and other random sports sites are probably the only other ones that I visit regularly but not daily.

Usually, I develop a unique interest for several months and I do a lot of reading on that topic until I lose interest, then I move on. Sites that pertain to some of those topics come and go all the time.

Oh Jeebus, don't clink the link. It is NSFL, NSFL I tell ya! You might get fired and/or divorsed instantly if you click it. You have been warned.
Interesting at the total lack of ESPN and Yahoo related websites in the first 100 responses or so.
Other than live sporting events I never watch ESPN but based on how much commentary about them I'd think their website gets tons of hits.
Between the autoplay on their annoying videos when reading an article and the new design of their site since companies feel the need to change things that work fine and screw them up, ESPN.com is worse than a chimp whose ass you shave.
we don't have tv so that's how i get scores, box scores, etc.
am i the only person on here who doesn't have a FB account and has no plans to get one? same with the twitter/instagram/yelp stuff.
please communicate your ideas on stone tablets. harder to store, but easier for me to understand.
and one last thing: there looks to be a lot of, shall we say, suspicious sites being touted here. like NSFW type stuff. you are all grounded. go to your room. without the computer. and hand over your phone, too.
Anyone with even passing interest in money (meta interest, not just acquiring it) should take a look at the story of the Island of Yap and their use of enormous stones as currency. Keynes and others have written about it, but Milton Friedman's first chapter in Money Mischief quotes one of the first western sources, should take <5mins to read and isn't what most people consider political. Very interesting stuff, at least for an econ geek.
As for other sites I visit, the annotation concept behind Genius.com is incredible. It has its flaws and needs better diversity among the best mods, but especially for hip hop there's some amazing material there, and there are big time artists with verified accounts.
They've diversified their scope (originally rapgenius.com) to include all types of music, court opinions and even Hillary Clinton will be doing some type of partnership with her speeches this campaign. Not an endorsement or diss, by the way, just a big name from outside the music industry.
