Speight availability for bowl game?
I haven't seen this brought up at all so apologies if I missed it, but what is the story on Wilton's availability against FSU? Is his injury something that will be healed (somewhat) before the bowl game or is it something that requires him to shut it down to ensure he is ready to go for spring ball and next season?

Of course he does. Harbaugh will give his the "Mr. Miagi hot hands treatment" every day between now and January 1...

(It's ok. I won't jump down your throat like others on here will...)

Well if he doesn't play, it will only be because he's home swapping out the kegs.

I went to NZ ten years ago and had Speight's. Delicious! Enjoyed it so much I bought a t-shirt and it has become my gameday shirt with Wilton at starting QB.

Any updates you can give the board regarding injuries/recruiting/players staying that can cheer the board up?

Just don't give us any bad news.. it's the holiday season and some people can be suicidal.
December 6th, 2016 at 10:07 AM ^
I think I read somewhere that post-holiday season is a bigger risk for suicides. But I could just be making that up.
December 6th, 2016 at 12:05 PM ^
Well, do check in with us after the holidays - want to make sure you're good.
December 6th, 2016 at 12:21 PM ^
That's the truth. If it's up to me, this holiday bs is canceled next year.

Will the O-Line lose the DonJoy carbon fiber erector sets on their arms (Kalis, Cole)?
(Was wondering how much the O-Line've been hampered by injury over the last month.)

Don't let that scare you though. He is going to play. In other news now that the season is over. Both Wanglers have been suspended and are out indefinitely. FSU has more to worry about than us. They have at least five that are questionable for the Orange Bowl and that include WR Da'Vante Phillips and 4 on defense.
December 6th, 2016 at 10:30 AM ^
the help and information you have. Some will ask you about the Wanglers, I won't, they are suspended, doesn't matter to me why. I'm more interested in Moe Ways, Harbaugh seemed to be chatting him up a little bit before the season started. He was clearly passed by Kekoa on the depth chart. Will he be sticking around or could he be a departure?
December 6th, 2016 at 10:33 AM ^
Ways has been passed up by all the Freshman on the depth chart.

Competition can be fierce. Ways also had to recover from an offseason injury so I wouldn't count him out yet.
December 6th, 2016 at 12:38 PM ^
that makes me sad for Moe Ways :( He had that great photo from the Ford Field practice (I think) where there was a kid looking up to him and he commented something about how it's surreal to have grown up dreaming of being the M player and now to actually be the one getting looked up to.... :-\
(yes, yay for competition and the cream rising to the top and all that, but still, makes me sad for the player who gets left behind)

I've just never understood the obsession with knowing why kids get suspended or punished by the team. Kicked off the team would be a different story.
+1 because I am a shining beacon of integrity

maybe his feelings were hurt because we lost, ya know?
December 6th, 2016 at 10:00 AM ^
Besides, he's going through daily "toughening up" drills with Harbaugh.
December 6th, 2016 at 4:24 PM ^
It didn't occur to me this fall, but it's a good thing Wilton got his helmet on before Harbaugh worked his way up to the head!
December 6th, 2016 at 6:19 PM ^
Well Harbaugh does say 'put your helmet on' before doing so
December 6th, 2016 at 10:00 AM ^
seemed pretty logical to me. With more time off for R&R, I figured it was a lock for him to play.

I just read that others had read this and have agreed that this is what they read.
With that said, I think that almost makes the thread META now, so we'll open up the floor to debate that now.

Have it on good authority that Speight is actually transferring to Florida State and will be eligible to start for the Noles in the Orange Bowl. So technically, everyone in this thread is right about him playing, but he's actually playing for the opposition.
December 6th, 2016 at 10:15 AM ^
completely legit.

Oh yeah, right here.

December 6th, 2016 at 1:40 PM ^
who is this hacker, "4chan"?
December 6th, 2016 at 10:26 AM ^
He will be playing with the opposition, but will he really be playing for the opposition? Might he really be playing for us as a covert operative?

think he will be fine for the bowl. The BIG title game would have likely been injured Speight, which makes it questionable that we would have beat Wisconsin even if we did with The Game. That is one of my coping mechanisms, it was not guaranteed even if we won in Columbus.

December 6th, 2016 at 11:37 AM ^
tried that but I don't believe it (assuming a healthy Speight). I don't think we would score a whole lot of points but I don't think they would have either. It also doesn't work because we would have played Clemson in the semi final, not Bama, and I think we would have beated Clemson.
December 6th, 2016 at 1:05 PM ^
big Maryland game, I think we go undefeated and would have the best chance of any team to defeat Alabama. But Wilton fell apart during the Iowa game and played so/so in the OSU game making two big mistakes you cannot make if you want to win the GAME!

Speight seems like a tough cat. Unless his arms fall off, he's playing.
