Dan Patrick is not any more of a reporter than Tucker Carlson or Cenk Uygur is. They're all entertainers first and talking about rumors and theories they've come up with is part of what they have to do to fill up hours of air time daily and satiate they're hardcore fans. It still blows my mind that people confuse these people with reporters. For people that have every picked up the newspaper this is the difference between journalist at a newspaper and a columnist. Wouldn't take anything a columnist reports too seriously - there's exceptions like Peter Vecsey - because they're paid to give their opinion and entertain you, not fact check.

I'm just gonna sit out until some ACTUAL news comes out

Kinda pointless to follow all these breathless updates on rumors that may or may not have any substance

"All 14 teams will play if voted and approved by a majority, and by all 14 teams, I mean they still can all decided on their own, in which delaying the season and then cancelling it was erroneous in the first place and a big waste of time. "

You say that like football revenue is significant in the scope of the budget that Schlissel oversees. Football takes in ~$100M. The rest of the university takes in ~$7.5B. Football is around 1-2% of the overall revenue of the university. It very reasonable for any CEO type person to ignore 2% of the revenue to try and focus on the 98% when things are as turbulent as they are today. Its very easy for him to say "Shut it down, I don't have time to try and make sure its running properly." In fact to divert university resources away from trying to run the university in order to support athletics (less than 2% of the revenue) would be asinine if the only reason is money. The amount of money involved is negligible when compared to the rest of the university.

There are reasons that football should play, and that Schlissel should be expending more of his time to make sure its done correctly, but money absolutely is NOT one of them.

@Dirvish

I don't think it is even this black and white though. Football revenue, per se, like basketball and any "revenue" sport is a drop in the proverbial bucket of university spending. It's even less than Michigan at many schools.That said, money from donors quite often relates to the concept of "engagement" and successful football/basketball and national TV drive a significant portion of that. It's far from the only driver but certainly not insubstantial. I think Schlissel ignores that (along with the goodwill of many donors/alums) at his peril.

(Disclaimer: Please note I do understand that Covid-19 is scary).

So now we know why Shaun Wade opted out. He heard he wouldn't get to play Michigan this year. That must be it.

At this point, all this is becoming quite comical. People assuming the season is back and claiming to be on "the right side of history". Meanwhile, nobody knows anything at all.

Can we stop posting every single stupid rumor about the B1G season? It's like everyday there's something new and opposite to what was reported the previous day and they're always wrong

From Wiki: "A yacht /jɒt/ is a sail or power vessel used for pleasure, cruising, or racing.[2][3][4] There is no standard definition, so the term applies to such vessels that have a cabin with amenities that accommodate overnight use. To be termed a yacht, as opposed to a boat, such a pleasure vessel is likely to be at least 33 feet (10 m) in length and have been judged to have good aesthetic qualities.[1]"

I believe this qualifies...
