RUMOR: can anyone confirm or disprove that Peppers is hurt

Submitted by James Burrill Angell on
There is a rumor running around campus that Peppers broke his hand and is out for the Citrus Bowl. some are speculating that is why he missed the Football Bust (though the media said the football office said it was because he was studying). Anyone seen him in campus or can hopefully disprove. MODS: feel free to delete since it is a rumor but this one has been gaining steam the last few days

But it was mostly a hate thread about HIPPA laws, etc. Does anybody know if it is accurate? If so, why not just announce it, say the details will remain in house and move along? Maybe it just isn't true at all? Or perhaps it is true but it is no big deal and he will play. (He needs to break a return TD soon. He has been one tackle away like 5 times).

We're 9-3.  In every game we played something that was recognizably football.  Harbaugh.  The culture has changed dramatically.   Recruiting.  Butt (and hopefully Lewis) staying.

Getting badly beaten by a team that is arguably the most talented in the country, losing a D-coordinator who will be replaced by another excellent one, and having Peppers possibly miss a meaningless bowl game are small temporary setbacks.

For the true definition of debacle, see...well, pretty much all of the 2014 season on and off the field.

bowl game is very meaningful and a win down there at the climax of recruiting season would be huge. Peppers sells the program really well and is kind of the focal point of our attack. I don't know how or why a matchup with Florida in the Citrus is meaningless to you but that must suck.

of the attack? The defensive attack? Not sure about that but he is a very important defensive piece. The punt return attack? Yes.  He is the focal point of that.

Usually people talk about "focal points" and "attacks" in football in relation to the offense, and he is most certainly not the focal point on offense (save for a handful of plays each game).

I don't think that there is an offense and a defense in recruiting (which the poster you are replying to was referring to in the sentence before discussing "focal point").  He may have been talking about playing the game and not about recruiting (and just changed topic without mentioining it) but you shouldn't assume that so you can make this attack on his statement.

Reading to understand gets you more information than reading to refute.

true. In this instance, I am kind of talking about both the team "image" for recruits and the play of the team on the field. OK, his performance on offense may not be as crucial as Jake Ruddock or Butt, but a good portion of our offensive attack the second half of the season was Peppers doing cool stuff. Put it this way, focal point of offense and/or defense or not, with Peppers I like Michigan in this one, without Peppers I don't think we get it done.

A debacle would be losing your last game by thirty and then finding out that your star player's dead girlfriend didn't exist.

And then having your starting quarterback suspended the season for cheating on a test.

That would be a start.

I follow Jabrill on Twitter and he tweeted yesterday saying "hate when people talk about things they have no idea about. Everyone has a business to mind, please mind your own. #worryaboutyou

I have no idea if it's regarding to the injury or not, but it's something.

This is twice in a month that his personal life is being dissected online.  Guys stay in school to get that elusive ring and to put off all the "real world" stuff for another year so they can enjoy college life.  If your life is like college-TMZ, there's less incentive to keep putting up with this crap while playing your future profession for free.  I hope the rest of his private life can stay private.

I was in school when Griese tested the chairproofiness of the windows at Score Keepers and it was not a story for very long.  A lot of my friends didn't know about it until we were making our run in 1997 and the incident was used as part of the Griese redemption story.

You're a Michigan fan, why would you ever think that an injury to our best player is nothing more than a rumor? Of course he broke his hand or punched a window, or whatever the rumor is. As a Michigan fan, after the last decade, why would you ever expect anything else?
