Revised opinion on Harbaugh

Submitted by Amaizing Blue on

When he was hired, I loved it.  After the last 10 months, and especially after last night, I love it even more.  He acknowledged what happened, didn't single anyone out, and represented us with class.  This-despite being in obvious agony over the loss.  He made what he thought was the best decision, and it blew up in his face.  Still a great coach, and I am proud to have him.       (I still feel as if my soul was torn out, doused with acid, then set afire.  I know he feels way worse than that, and somehow that makes me feel at least a little better.)

I think it might have been against Penn State - we were up 3 and we ran a play where we snapped the ball to Breaston, and he ran around in the back of the end zone while the whole team held to burn out the clock before running out the back for a safety. Obviously the last part wouldn't work here, but I wonder if you can feasably give the ball to Chesson and have him run around for 10 seconds while the line blatently holds there.

The officials may whistle a play dead for failure to (attempt to) advance the ball -- the equivalent of saying the runner's forward progress is stopped. Would you really trust *these* officials not to make that call? Granted, I've never seen it called, ever, but it's on the books, and that's why teams don't try this.

I suppose if you back up to first down, you might have run 3 plays that eat more clock (run away from MSU tacklers) But you'd probably run a greater risk of fumbling or running out of bounds and also would've been less likely to get a first down.

And in every case the unthinkable, unimaginable and unexpected could happen:  you bobble and drop the snap!  There is no certain way to prevent that.  If we played that last play a hundred times you would probably only see it happen one time like it actually did.  Maybe the Harbaugh pot just needs to keep simmering and boiling--this is a long haul view, but in the end i like the idea that JH has a year to chew on this one and come up with something real special.

“Our guys fought their hearts out, and we’ll come back and we’ll build and we’ll steel ourselves against it. So, there’s a lot of fight in our guys so really proud of that. Played winning football and overcame a lot.”

Conducted himself in the most favorable manner possible last night in the press conference.

Everthing that he said was simply right on.

I would love to play on his team.

Jesus h Christ do we have to post every passing thought as a new thread? I need to take a shit, should I post that and see how everyone feels about it? Get over it you weenies, if our football team reacted like we did we wouldn't win another game. Steel your goddamn spines and think before you post

Wow. This is epic. You can literally see him taking deep breaths in through he nose and out through the mouth...I don't know how anyone could remain that composed instead of doing what we were all doing....screaming, falling to our knees, punching things, standing there open mouthed.... Just wow. The discipline!

Not worried. We won that game, just didn't get the victory. If we had a QB that could at all hit downfield throws we blow them out of the water, even with the uncharacteristic defensive performance.

the punt cleanly it still would have gotten it off?

Blake usually takes three steps to his right before punting it. MSU had three what appeared to be unblocked rushers coming off that side. One of then picked off the ball and ran it in for the TD. Blake really didn't have that much time.

Harbaugh along with every single exemplary assistant have got the best out of players that were never able to realize their true potential. AJ Williams, Sion Houma, the entire offensive. It should literally be years before this it his team and he has rushed that to now.

this loss was my fault. I just recently moved into my new house. I watched a Michigan vs msu game on this same street a few years ago. it was the clock gate game. 2 msu games on this street, two of the worst gut punch losses in the series. I'll take all the blame.

We are far above what any of us thought we would be . I honestly say every year at the start 12-0 ,because i am a dumb homer. But i really was thinking 9-3 ,and we can be there or better still, with this team. Yes ,losing a game like that sucks, and i am as everyone else pissed & depressed, but  Michigan Football needs to go on and run the table from now on . As I live and die blue, like all of you .

GO BLUE FOREVER.

You loved Harbaugh when he was hired and now you have revised your opinion...to love him??

I personally haven't really changed my view. He's an excellent coach, the best we could possibly get in that situation. He's done well so far.

What's the issue? Michigan has fielded a football team for 135 years. Odds are that eventually something this bizarre would happen. It doesn't ease the pain, I know. But at the end of it, we know these things are possible and that part of the allure of college football. Unfortunately we're on the losing end of it. Please remember, it's just a game. It really doesn't matter.

Glad you started this thread

I could not watch replays long after game, but when they showed Harbaugh and how he handled it, I was so impressed.

He didn't shout, show anger, nothing. Can you image Brian Kelly?

His comment about steel spine.  Just great.

This is the worst loss I can remember and still in shock.  But other than dealing with Sparty slappies, we are in a good place.

Harbaugh rocks. Best coach ever and I would not trade him and this staff for any other. Completely support this team, players, staff and administration.
