Revised opinion on Harbaugh

Submitted by Amaizing Blue on

When he was hired, I loved it.  After the last 10 months, and especially after last night, I love it even more.  He acknowledged what happened, didn't single anyone out, and represented us with class.  This-despite being in obvious agony over the loss.  He made what he thought was the best decision, and it blew up in his face.  Still a great coach, and I am proud to have him.       (I still feel as if my soul was torn out, doused with acid, then set afire.  I know he feels way worse than that, and somehow that makes me feel at least a little better.)

as devastated as I am about yesterday? Im that and more excited about our football future...

we are wayyyyyyt ahead of schedule and still have a shot at beating #1 OSU getting a great bowl game New Years Day perhaps and a top 10 finish...and to know that we are THHHHHHAT close to 2 undefeated top 4 teams?...Its incredible what hes done in less than a year

So yes, I have revised my opinion.  From just thrilled  to thrilled beyond belief-but revised nonetheless.  And to be clear, I think the punt was the correct call. I was simply saying that despite making what most of us thought was the correct call, it didn't work.  I fully expect this team to have a great game against Minnesota and play well the rest of the season.  I also fully expect us to be a national force for as long as Harbaugh is here.  I would take 20 years.

Are you nuts? This team is getting better weekly. Wait until he gets a QB and a running back that he recruited into his system. We are moving in the right direction. Go Blue!

Even though we suffered a tough loss last night. I truly believe Michigan football is back. Harbaugh like expected turned this program around instantaneously and I'm proud to say this is the most excited I've been for Michigan football in a long long time

Why do I agree with the OP and make this subject heading despite a gut wrenching loss?

Because that is part of his job to walk out there and face the media, be composed and not be a ranting lunatic (despite having rational reasons to be angry about the officiating), playing the blame game (e.g. throwing the poor kids under the bus), or feeling sorry for himself or his team (which many coaches do even while saying they are not - sort of a like the Sorry-Not Sorry meme).

I know this sort of history is like talking about the Spanish-American War, but Vince Lombardi took a Green Packer team that had not had a winning seasons in decades to their first winning mark in his debut year of 1959 - that was his first coaching season and he had a record of 7-5. The next year, the team went on to the NFL Championship game (basically the Super Bowl before there was such a thing) and they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles. In 1961 they won it all.

So we've seen the tough preseason side of Harbaugh, the sunny Jim side with the preseason media, and the basking in victory side. Now we see the gut wrenching loss side, and we need to see that, because no coach who has coached for any length of time is ever unbeaten, untied, or never suffers an upset.

So chins up, eyes forward, there is a lot of football season left to see and enjoy!

Go Blue!

His response was just perfect and what we as a fan base needed to hear. We played winning football and didn't get the result. That's life. We move forward. Time to build this program into a champion.

Pre season around the water cooler predicted Michigan beating either State or OSU this year? Still not impossible. When is the last time you wanted the bye to get over ASAP so you could see the team get back to business? The doors and wheels would be starting to fall off more often than not at this time any other year. Year one under Harbaugh is going well. Get it together!

He was great in the post-game presser.  You could see the agony so there was kinship.  I liked Hoke in many ways but hearing about great practices and execution and all that would have been really painful.

Although I am heartbroken for the team. I still believe with every ounce of my being , we have the best coach out there. We will get stronger for having been through this. This team will get better each week. And Coach Harbaugh is building a national power. GO BLUE !!!

on Cleveland sports radio tweeted that the loss was totally on Harbaugh, he didn't have them coached up, maybe he's not as great as everyone thinks he is, etc. That's fear talking. This loss sucked but not as bad as just getting your ass whipped all day and never having a chance. The future is bright. Shit happens, and its sounds like Harbaugh is dealing with it perfectly. There is absolutely no person on the planet Id rather have.

They would have won in utah if jake had been at michigan for more than fall practice. So in his first year they nearly beat the #4 team, beat 1 top ten team in MSU, and shut out 3 other teams. Even though they don't have the record to show for it they are playing outstanding.

This thread may or may not be based on a thin premise, but it's one of the best ones on here since approximately 7:22 last night. There is great big picture thinking happening among the posters. I feel a ton better reading through this. I think that feeling will be ratcheted up even more after reading Brian's monday recap. That's my hope.

You know what?  This loss sucks but we were the better team and MSU knows it.  And we'll only be better next year.

And even if we'd had triple the football incompetence of the last 8 years and Sparty/OSU had had triple their football success I wouldn't consider even once trading places with any one of their fans because at the end of the day, no matter how much their teams win, they're still not part of the University of Michigan community and family.

Because when Harbaugh was hired I thought he was an Asshole, and after blowing the game last night, I now know he is a even Bigger Asshole. First he makes decisions that lead to the largest fail in the history of college football, maybe from pee-wee to the NFL. Then he implies that maybe it was the Refs fault, that his team was somehow treated unfair, and didn't acknowledge at all that he was just beat by a team that had over 100 yards more offense, and twice as many first downs. He failed to acknowledge that MSU put itself in position to win, and when UM make a mistake they pounced on it and won the game. So yes, Harbaugh trying to blame anyone but himself, which he did, proves he is exactly the asshole everyone from the west coast to the east thought he was

has the laugh freaking laugh.

Let the haters say whatever they want. This team is going fucking steamroll opponents with malice aforethought, and there won't be anything they can do to stop it.

Remember Bo's teams after the 1973 debacle.

Don't make them angry. You won't like Michigan football when they're angry.

Is that he is arguably the most talented football mind on planet Earth and that the college football world will soon be falling before the dominance of a Michigan program that will surpass the greatest dynasties of the modern era.

Actually...I guess that's not really a revised opinion at all.

he totally outcoached Dantonio. One very obvious example was kicking field goals and getting 9 points, while Dantonio is going for it on 4th down a couple times doing the exact opposite of coach Harbaugh all the while. At the end of the game Harbaugh has a two point advantage after Staee got their usual TD by putting in a special play. They could not draw closer by the end of the game. If the punter had not flubbed the snap and simply punted the ball we would be talking about Harbaugh being a far better coach than The Great Dantonio.
