Potential 2015 National Championship Host Cities Narrowed to Six

ESPN has sources reporting that the 2015 national championship bidding will be limited to six cities: Glendale, AZ, Miami, FL, New Orleans, LA, Pasadena, CA, Arlington, TX and Atlanta, GA. Four of those are current BCS sites, with the Cotton Bowl and Chick-fil-A bowls being included as well.

With more time before the 2016 final, more cities are expected to be considered. ESPN lists those cities as Indianapolis, Detroit, St. Louis, Orlando, Fla., Houston, San Diego, Jacksonville, Fla., and Tampa, Fla.

There are very few, if any, bad areas of Pasadena, and they certainly aren't anywhere near the Rose Bowl. Pasadena is one of the most expensive cities to live in in California, a state that is already very expensive. An average home in Pasadena costs around 800k, but many are a million plus.

Home values aside, Pasadena is a clean city in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. If Pasadena isn't a pretty city - what is?

Good to hear about the bidding system. It'd be nice to see cities like Detroit, Indy, and maybe even St. Louis get the right to bid on the game.

Still, its probably going to end up in SEC country most years.

To make it fair to everyone for 2015, they should simply host the game at the average of the latitudes and longitudes of the cities which have been authorized to bid on it, which would put the 2015 game in the ranchlands just north of Cameron, Texas, about halfway between Waco and College Station.

I do like the open bidding system going forward - it is about as fair can be at that point. There are quite a few cities north of 34 N (Pasadena) which could easily accommodate the game and the fans and media that would come with it and put on a good show as well.

Sorry to jack the thread, but this isn't really thread-worthy so I figured I'd post it here:

I saw a couple of days ago that someone said there were rumors going around that Gardner has broken his collarbone and will be out for the year, but they didn't provide any source.  Has anyone heard about Gardner's status?  Will he be fine for the Purdue game?

He's actually throwing a shotput, but the face is hilarious and I it would be too hard to see if I included the whole pic.  But yeah, fiber does wonders.

Hoke said he was fine today during the Big Ten teleconference. As per usual, take with a grain of salt, but it looks like he'll be healthy for Purdue.

Since I am moving to San Diego soon, and Michigan will obviously be in every national championship from 2015 on, I am hoping for some Southern California sites.
