OT (maybe) CC (maybe): Bears to Bench Cutler v Lions

Submitted by alum96 on

Maybe this means something, maybe it means nothing for CC but at least for Lions fans it's pretty shocking.  Cutler is being benched this week despite his 7 yr $126M albatross salary.  For Jimbo it's definitely something to consider if Chicago flutters his heart at all.  A team in dysfunction with a non leader at the helm of its offense.

The quarterback now leads the league with 24 turnovers, and his problems have helped prompt Chicago's sudden decline. The Bears have lost six of their past eight games, yet another scuffle in a year full of them.  That includes offensive coordinator Aaron Kromer admitting to his players that he was an anonymous source in which Cutler's game-management skills were criticized.

I was at this game and it was pretty funny in person, but this condensation of the "highlights" never, ever gets old. Actually, I would have wondered about the sanity of the board had this not appeared in any thread mentioned a rare Jimmy Clausen start in the NFL.

obvious sign charlie weiss is headed to chicago to reunite with Jimmy. In fact, according to my made up source, Clausen even texted charlie saying "we're getting the band back together" and that they're "on a mission from a ton of doosh bags".

Feel bad for Cutler.  I always felt he got a bad rap because he isn't charismatic.  I think he is a fine qb and certainly isn't the reason for the Bears' struggles.  That said, I'm looking forward to the Lions front four wrecking havoc.

Cutler has had a bit of a tough break with having a slew of different offensive coordinators and an injury last year, but at the end of the day, he's not performing, so he deserves to be benched. I never understood the reason for paying him the contract he's been given. The Bears gave him all this money and he's given them nothing in return. I think it was Urlacher who said Cutler is an elite QB in salary only.

The man couldn't be more right.

so much that they'll help the Lions win?

Naw.  Just a dysfunctional organization from top to bottom.  Don't even know where to start to clean it up, unless they put in Ditka as Owner, GM, Head Coach, and Tight End.

I barely lost in my fantasy football playoffs game last week.   I had the Lions "D".   This could've been a sweet point-getting week for me.   Shit.

Also:  I'm scared shitless about this scenario.   As a decades-long Lions fan, this has the makings of a nightmare game where Clausen dices us up.

Cutler is that bad personally. The dude threw for a 66% completion rate and 28 TD. I read yesterday that of of the 18 picks he has thrown, that 4 are not his fault and another 2-3 were fluke catches.

Curlers special teams are crap, his defense was horrible this year and everyone seems to always blame him for everything. 3000 yards w 28 TD is pretty decent. By the way Luck has thrown 14 picks this year as well and his O line and D line are way superior.

I think benching him is pretty fucked up and I'm not even a Bears fan. For Clausen really?
