OT - Geno Smith sucker punched by his own teammate
Breaking: Geno Smith out 6-10 weeks with broken jaw, per Bowles. He was "sucker-punched" by LB IK Enemkpali this AM in locker room. #NYJ

This might be one of the most bizarre injuries ever suffered by an NFL starting quarterback.

I'm not sure if I'm happy or sad about this. Geno Smith was pretty bad so I kinda liked our chances in week one against the Jets. Now they may go out and get somebody decent.

They're going to go with Fitzpatrick. I would like your chances, but you are still Cleveland.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is the assumed starter now, not a name to worry about either.

That is one heck of a punch. I hope it was worth it. I would love to hear the details of what these girls were arguing about. I'm sure its completely reasonable.

What's with this shit on this board?
Enough with the "ladies" and "panties in a bunch" garbage.
Ugh.
Grow up.

What kind of tool sucker punches someone let alone his own starting QB? Haha. Will the guy be immediately released from the team or what? That's messed up

I hope Geno sues that dude for everything he has left. You have a very short time to play in the NFL and losing six weeks could kill your momentum and your career. Sucker punches are for punks. I get having a fight, but be a man and give the guy an opportunity to defend himself.

This is why the Jets while being irrelevant in the field of play, are somehow always on ESPN. Really ridiculous shit happens to them, like this and the buttfumble. They are relevantly-irrelevant.

Comment of the day by the coach....
The coach adds that it had "nothing to do with football" and it was something "very childish," without going into details.
Can't wait to find out what was actually said, probably a Nike vs. Adidas discussion.

You deserve it for picking a guy who's famous basically for one book which was loaded down with narcissistic self-indulgent nonsense.
Mark Twain did the "adolescent self-discovery novel" seventy years before Catcher in the Rye and managed to do it while taking on issues quite a bit deeper than whether prep school is too phony for self-believed deep thinkers. And Twain was a hell of a lot more prolific, too.

Geno Smith: Clearly Arthur Miller.
IK Enemkpali: He's not a novelist.
GS: Sure he is, and a great one.
IKE: No, he's a playwright.
GS: Have you even read "Death of a Salesman?" Novelist. Great movie, too.
IKE: Playwright!
GS: Whatever, dude. Same diff...
IKE: FU. *punch*

Not to mention the criminal/civil charges that will most likely come sooner than later.
August 11th, 2015 at 2:02 PM ^
I'm thinking that's going to come down to whether Geno Smith wants this story to stay in the news or not.
