His speed and natural ability to run can make him a very dangerous reciever either as a deep threat like deshawn jackson or torrey smith or in the slot like Victor cruz or wes welker |

Recruiting should be taken with a grain of salt, and you must realize it is just an evaluation of their current talent and potential....some recruits dont live up to there stars and some come out of no where. J.J. Watt, for example, was only a two star and ranked 112th DE and look at him now. Only time will tell how good these players turn out to be.... |

| 25 weeks 4 days ago | The thing Im most impressed |
The thing Im most impressed about this team is the way we could compete with every team on our schedule besides the first game...some better decisions and/or other things going our way and this team could have gone 11-1. The defense looks pretty good despite not having the elite level talent. Jake Ryan looks like the only guy that will be a all big ten selection. With guys, like Quinton Washington, Thomas Gordon, Raymon Taylor, Jibreel Black, Jake Ryan, and Frank Clark, our defense has a chance to be as good if not better than 2012. Young talent guys like Joe Bolden, James Ross, Jarrod Wilson, and Ondre Pipkins also will increase competition and help improve the defense. On offense for next year I think the two biggest question marks are offensive line and Wide receiver. I believe our Running backs are capable of being productive and even good if we have improved run blocking. And the Emergence of Devin Gardner will keep teams from loading the box against the run. The biggest thing I notice with Devin Gardner is his hesitiation at time when releasing the ball. With more experience I believe he will be more confident in throwing the ball before the wide out makes his break and will decrease the chance of DBs breaking on a late thrown ball. Gardner's ability to extend plays, will also help receivers get open. |

Although the defense has improved tremendously under Greg Mattison the past two years, this game perfectly illustrated the lack of speed and athleticism we have on the perimeter and linebacker position right now. The talent level that we have coming in the next few years will make a big difference and we have a chance to have a scary good defense against both the run and the pass. |

I thought the same thing when I saw Denard and Devin chest bump at first, but at second glance he was actually reaching for the headphone that was about to fall off! |
| 28 weeks 5 days ago | If Gardner continues to get |
If Gardner continues to get better into next season will be an overall better QB than Denard...His height helps he see over the line better, he is more accurate than denard down the field, and he seems to have a been feel for taking off when there is nothing there instead of only designed runs! |

They are hands down the dirtiest group of players ive ever seen in a game...truly taking on the personality of their coach! |
| 29 weeks 6 days ago | The lost falls on the |
The lost falls on the coaching staff: first of all they did not have the back up QB ready to play. Bellomy has looked terrible all season even when it didnt matter! Then, they dont give Gardner a chance when it was apparent that Bellomy had no chance to even manage the game. I know Gardner has not practiced at that position all season but Im sure he would not do any worse than 3-16 for 38 yds and 3 interceptions. |

Denard would fake the run and suck the safeties up into the box and throw it over the top to a wide open receiver, best example was the first play of the 2010 Illinois game to Roundtree for a touchdown |

| 1 year 24 weeks ago | I think the most encouraging |
I think the most encouraging things about Denard going into the bowl game and next season as well is that denard has been throwing the ball more accurately down the field down the stretch, and you dont see him missing wide open receivers like he did in the start of the season. Also, he is now taking off when the play down the field isnt there which will eventually suck up the safeties as the game continues and will help open up his receivers even more.

I dont know where you got these numbers but they are wrong! Denard only has 864 yds and Fitz has 673 yds for the season! |

I dont know what he said but I have no issue with the way he acted....he didnt act like any other coach that was excited about winning a close game against a really good team! Was he a little over excited? Yea, but that happens and when you are mad that you lost its not a surprise that Schwartz took it the way he did! |

| 1 year 33 weeks ago | Lucky for us, Northwestern |
Lucky for us, Northwestern has the 2nd worst ranked Defense in the big ten right now only ahead of Minnesota. As for their offense, their running back is out for the season and Persa is very limited with his abilities, seeing as he hurt his leg again last week when he was already limited in his mobility. |
| 1 year 33 weeks ago | I agree with your analysis |
I agree with your analysis for the most part, but still think the defense is vulernable in the passing game! Watching the Minnesota game, when the freshman QB wasnt running for his life he was able to find some open recievers against our corners, Im not sure if its lack of speed on the outside or positioning but it is something that needs to improve before we play better recievers like Cunningham and Jenkins. |
