OT: Dorial Green-Beckham Dismissed From Mizzou
Title says it all. Too bad he couldn't pull it together.
Missouri dismisses leading WR Dorial Green-Beckham from program following investigation of suspected burglary that ended with no arrests.

... I'm thinking he and the Bag Man were pretty close.
How does he feel about playing the five in Beilein's offense?
Nik and Caris are also 6'6". Funny how the guy is a giant in college football but average for college basketball
but if he's a receiver, then he'll probably be good at rebounding.
Can he block?
Hah. I totally resisted the temptation to add quips about his prowess as an OL for my first forum topic.
At first, thought you meant block as in basketball and guard the rim. Shows how much my attention has shifted from football to basketball.
No but apparently he can steal!
well enough. He lost his job.
I think Mizzou forgot they are in the SEC now. You only dismiss players that are at the bottom of the depth charts.
Interesting considering there were all these ESPN stories talking about what a class act he was and good student in HS.. looks like all that ended once he hit college
Would be he heads to a FCS School and then to the NFL Draft.
I have some guesses:
Blinn Junior College (where Cam Newton and others have played)
Arizona Western Junior College (where Antonio Kinard is)
McNeese State

I thought he was a sophomore. Doesn't that destroy his JuCo eligibility?
Gary Pinkel just got a few new fans.
So you're saying there's a chance????
Auburn will love him.
I guess he can go the JuCo route, but man did he screw up what should have been an easy path to at least a shot at the NFL.
Green-Beckham and his younger brother (who has leukemia) were adopted by his high school football coach in 2009, after spending years in foster homes. It was a heart-warming story at the time—a talented kid from difficult circumstances (one of six siblings who never knew his biological father) is adopted by his coach, and goes on to a fantastic HS career and then commits to the in-state school, Missouri. He's now had three run-ins with the law, and Pinkel cut the cord. He'll lose a year of playing time if he goes to another FBS program, so it's either sit for a year or move down a division.
If he'd been able to keep his shit together, he was a sure first-round pick, and probably top ten.
Hopefully this has a Tyrann Mathieu ending (one where lessons are learned and player goes on to have a productive and jail-free career) rather than the alternative.
Also, DGB has been a gargantuan disappointment, so now he's really made it tough on NFL teams to draft him in the first 4 rounds if he does eventually qualify for the draft
it's a code red.
The spectrum
I have never seen so many shades of purple!
Or a UM DB dismissal?

Swing and a miss.
How so? Stonum was under double secret probation for a year before he missed his court date.

First, Stonum was a WR, not a DB. Second...wait, what the hell am I trying to convince you for?
... that he also pushed a woman down four stairs while trying to get into the house his girlfriend was at.
The story is that he forced himself into an apartment looking for his girlfriend and pushed a women down the stairs.
The police were going to charge him with assult and burglary, but the girl decided not to press charges.
Source?
Here's the incident report: LINK
I asked Drayton why she no longer wanted to go ahead with prosecution and she stated that she was afraid of the media and community backlash since Green-Beckham is a football player...Drayton stated she was afraid of being harassed and having her property damaged just because she was the victim.
"Source: DBG pushed girl down stairs and breaks into house trying to get to his gf."
As long as you say, "Source:" you're covered. At least that's what ESPN has taught me.
DGB forcing himself into the apartment and committing a crime is burglary.
Text from DGB's girlfriend (2/2): "THe coaches talked to me and explained to e [six] how serious this is and there's no time to waste"

Adults (in age only) let these kids have a different set of rules (or none) from an early age b/c they can score TDs, put a basketball through a hoop, or hit a baseball a long way. They have been taught they're above the law. If you've read Friday Night Lights about the Dallas Carter team, you know of what I speak.
I don't think this phenomenon applies to DGB's behavior--it's probably about his childhood--but the attitude of the Missouri coaches (if this is true) is reprehensible. Pinkel & staff should be fired for pressuring victims to look the other way.
can he bulk up and play on the interior of the OL?
But what a shame and a letdown. Hope he lands on his feet soon-too much talent to be wasted.
Excerpts from Pinkel's statement can be found in the Kansas City Star article here - LINK
From that statement:
“Dorial’s priority going forward needs to be focusing on getting the help he needs. As we have all along, we will continue to do everything we can to assist Dorial and his family. We care deeply about Dorial and his well-being, but hopefully he can benefit from a fresh start.”
I believe that just the other day Green-Beckham had released a statement of his own saying that he would seek counseling and basically owning up to his decisions to date. The article also talks about some of the other incidents in which DGB has been involved as well as the numerous run-ins other Mizzou players have had with the law recently.
Mark Dantonio on line 1...
He's NFL ready (physically)...right now.
