To the douchebags who spray painted "SMoke Trees" utilizing the sacred block M for this retarded message, GO FUCK YOURSELF. Do you have no respect? Well I doubt you go to UM or care about anything but that newest bud you saw in the centerfold of high times, so why would you know anything about its importance.
OT: Block M in the Diag Vandalized by Stoners
I doubt they are reading this.
Yea I thought about including that disclaimer, but was completely distracted by watching furbies and chasing the dragon.
9:5 Odds they are eating at Big Ten Burrito right this minute....calling all cars!
this calls for a swift punishment!
they must surrender all of their pot to me immediately.
for the good of the nation.
if they had the drive and desire to get spray paint and write that, they weren't stoners
I saw that a day or two ago. I would have been fine with it if they didn't color in the M and used something a little less lasting than spray paint.
On another even more off topic note... I love smoking weed but CAN'T stand the hippies and hipsters, who claim to be "connoisseurs" that are behind the marijuana legalization movement. I'm sorry I'm not a complete burnout and also like smoking weed now and then... Fuckers
Smoke and let smoke. Some people are idiots with or without it and that's not ever going to change. By the way this is a no politics board, but since you mentioned it...The marijuana legalization movement isn't just "hippies and hipsters" as you claim. As a smoker, you shouldn't be complaining about people who are trying to fight for your right to smoke without fear of arrest.
homeboy probably doesn't want to allocate a portion of his pot procurement fund towards sales tax
Well, if enough people like him exist post-legalization, then the black market for weed will still be around, and he can continue to buy his bud tax-free. I do assume you're joking, but not wanting to pay taxes is a bad reason to be against legalization.
As a smoker, you shouldn't be complaining about people who are trying to fight for your right to smoke without fear of arrest.
Actually I think the kind of burnout that does stuff like this does a lot more harm than good for the legalization movement. I don't smoke, I do favor legalization, I hate that that puts me on the "side" of the kind of retard that revolves their entire lifestyle over a stupid drug, and I bet that that kind of face on the movement turns off a hell of a lot of people who might otherwise be in favor. "4/20 culture" needs a swift kick in the balls - you don't see cigarette smokers always wearing tobacco t-shirts.
but are any of you actually familiar with the kids who work, for instance, UM's SSDP chapter? i know a few and they are by and large bright and motivated. it's a bullshit rap you guys are throwing on folks who are interested in public policy and keeping non-dangerous sorts out of prison in order to legitimate the burnout stereotype. from my interactions, they seem particularly moved by folks with no options but to sell drugs getting busted and sent to prison. i suppose it could all be in the name of getting their reefer with less hassle...but what hassle? they live in a2 and have money. in other words, they recognize their privilege and believe it should be conferred to others with less. isn't that actual altruism? and can anyone engaged in actual activism be totally burnt out?
Did I say that every activist is a burnt-out slacker? And I don't care how bright, motivated, or altruistic they are - if they're the type of person that thinks April 20 is a goddamn holiday because of a drug, or wears t-shirts to celebrate, or otherwise "celebrates the lifestyle", that's dumb. And that's what happens to be a large, visual face of the movement, which as I said, understandably turns people off. If your idea of altruism is making it easier to smoke weed, I think you need a refocus of attention. (That's the generic "you", for clarification, not you the guy on the other keyboard.) Join the Peace Corps or something. Just because I think it should be legal to smoke it doesn't mean I don't think it's also a complete waste of time. I just think it should be legal to waste your time.
(By the way, if dealing weed is the only way for people to make ends meet, the absolute worst thing you can do for their cash flow is to legalize it.)
that if the only people who are public about their marijuana use are considered low status, it's going to be difficult to move forward toward legalization or decriminalization. especially since there are probably very few if any really real deadbeats who are actually just into weed. real deadbeats get serious highs.
I've got a brother who is a serious deadbeat, and he's a pot smoker, and only a pot smoker. For him, it removes any and all ambition to do anything other than be a lazy bum. I can't stand that.
Word, man. Guys like Marc Emery and his ilk give the whole movement a terrible reputation.
1) Probably spray chalk (if not, it comes off anyway)
2a) people do this all the time
2b) no different than the people that make it "obaMa" or " ____ 4 Msa pres"
I've seen it. It actually is spray paint. And the difference is the M itself was painted. It wasn't just part of a word.
And the difference is the M itself was painted.
This does, in fact, change everything.
Find the heathens and burn them at the stake!
I always wanted to spray paint: "vandalisM" and a big Idaho logo. We've really undervalued Michigan's potential rivalry with the Kibbie Dome Vandals.
I laughed my ass off when I read this.
One man's vandalism is anothers art.
Unfortunately, I think the student curse only works if you walk on the M. There nothing about spray painting around the M in the UM Student Curse Handbook.
THE BUMS WILL ALWAYS LOSE!
My advice for you is to do what your parents did, get a job sir.
Greatest. Movie. Ever.
I gave you +1 both for your comment and your avatar. Captain Murphy rocks.

I don't even want to know what that does to your next bluebook exam.
catches on fire during the middle of it. No build up. Just *poof* and your head's a-burnin'.
I figured. This actually happened in the middle of a History of Witchcraft class midterm.
I always thought it was because the poor student was conflicted between answering the essay question with his honest intellectual opinion, or with the asinine Women's Studies explanation from the professor's book.
I graduated in '06 and am in Ann Arbor all the time. I have never and still would not dare come close to steppin' on the block M.
During a pledge event, two of us had to take a picture on the M. I volunteered because I was the only engineer and thought I'd spare my LSA buddies who were much more likely to take Blue Books.
Fast forward to Winter '10, I'm taking a 300-level history class.
First exam? Blue Book. I hadn't written an essay since high school and still got a 96.
Suck it superstition! The day is mine!
..they probably had this "scheduled" for 4/20. Looks like they were three weeks late.
Stoners notoriously punctual. They were watching to see if their fingers would fing.
Oh wait, there they go, man.
Mr. Anchower was unavailable for comment.
I'm worried. It's been a long time since he rapped at me.
Perfect blend of artistic ability and um... medicinal fortitude.
To give credit where credit is due, this came from something awful
Don't get me wrong, he's still a major person of interest in this case, but his death in 1995 casts at least some doubt on your theory.
