OT: 2016 NFL Draft Trade: Eagles move up to No. 2
Eagles trade up from No. 8 to No. 2 in another huge trade before the 2016 NFL Draft.
The Eagles give up their first-round pick (eighth overall), their third (77th) and fourth (100th), along with their 2017 first-rounder and their 2018 second-rounder. They get the Browns’ fourth-rounder this year as well as the second pick.
Compared to the Rams trade (see specs below), it seems like the Eagles got a somewhat better deal than the Rams.
Tennessee sent the top selection along with its fourth- (No. 113) and sixth-round (No. 177) picks this year to the Rams in exchange for Los Angeles' first-round pick (No. 15), two second-round selections (Nos. 43 and 45) and a third-round pick (No. 76) in 2016. The Titans also will get the Rams' first- and third-round picks in 2017.

Déjà vu all over again.
or just déjà vu...
100's of beautiful girls and 3 ugly ones
You said in the post that the Eagles get the Browns' fourth round this year, but it says 2017 there.
did something smart????!
They will probably screw up the picks, even if they did one smart thing, they still are the Browns.
They will take either Bosa or Elliott with the 8th pick. They will still suck, but Buckeye fans will be happy.
Perhaps this means the Browns will try the volume/shotgun approach to finding a QB this year, and take 3 or 4 QB's, hoping that one of them works out. Aren't they like 0 for 33 in picking QB's?
they'll only waste third round money on a failed QB instead of 2nd overall pick money.
One of the stupider trades I've seen, from the Eagles perspective. The Browns did something right it seems, but with their luck Wentz will be the second coming of Brady.
Smh.
isn't any evidence that NFL teams are good at / capable of determining which QB in each draft has the highest likelihood of being a great QB, especially when there isn't a Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck no-brainer - and there certainly does not seem to be this year. So yes, highly unlikely that both QBs will be good and fairly unlikely either of them becomes franchise quality. Very smart trade for the Browns.
Also, you def don't need a healthy franchise QB to be really good if you're smart with the rest of the team (defense and O line) Lately we've seen more mediocre QBs win with great defenses (Eli, Flacco, Wilson, geriatric Peyton) than we've seen franchise QBs carry their teams. Yes, Wilson improved to well above average in 2015 but his SB winning year he wasn't top 10 in total QBR and the offense revolved around Lynch. It's no coincidence that when Russell got his big payday, the team couldn't afford the dominant pieces around him.
Definitely stupider.
If this were my fantasy league I would veto so hard, but it's real life, and we all know this means nothing for the browns.
don't veto trades just because one person is stupid. If an owner simply is an idiot, let them be one. The only reason to veto any fantasy trade is obviously proven collusion
That's pretty much my philosophy, but my league votes down every. fucking. trade.
for this year's #1 draft spot. All would be right with the world then.
MGrowOld is probably so happy right now.
Just got out of a board meeting and saw this. VERY HAPPY!

That distinction belongs to the Jets
but all happened in the 80s and early 90s. The Lions and Browns are without question the reigning champs in the last 15-20 years. Maybe the Raiders are in play (see what I did there) but at least they went to a Super Bowl in that time frame. With the Browns new focus on analytics and the Lions having a guy from New England, those franchises may be turning things around...
Boy thats a lot to give up to move up six spots. Are teams really that desperate for QB's in a year when there really aren't any showstoppers available?
Right? What's going to happen in 2018 and beyond, when Harbaugh's QB's become draft eligible? No doubt the Brown's will try to get in on that action, too...
and reminds again of how incompetent many sports front office folks are...

On their walk from the hotel to the draft the Browns will meet a stranger and trade all of those picks for his magic beans.

And it's either for Wentz or Goff. Whichever the Rams don't take.
I would put money on a team of 53 rookies going 0-16, no questions asked. Like half the first round busts out of the nfl within three years, let alone rounds 2 or 3.
